Pompey Takeover Saga

not quite sure why there is so much excitement today. Cala was never going to buy them, not a chance, so him pulling out or being ignored was inevitable IMO. The fact they turned down a bid for players during the week tells me the other interested parties are much more serious. So nothing has changed from what I can see.

according to one of the posters on pompey forum reckons they owe £1.2 million to the taxman on the front of todays pompey news.

oh please let that be true - owing Bob the builder £2500 is one thing but owing HMRC when you have already cheated them once and got away with it is another. There would be no leeway or negotiation this time around.

And so their work was done.

Bagpuss gave a big yawn and settled down to sleep

And, of course, when Bagpuss goes to sleep,

All his friends go to sleep too.

The blue few were figments of our imagination.

Sacha and Balram were just dolls.

Administrator Andrew was a carved, wooden bellend in the shape of a wooden pecker.

Even Bagpuss himself, once he was asleep, was just an old, saggy skate ****,

Baggy, and a bit loose at the seams,

But Milan loved him

Very good!

@pn_neil_allen: Andrew Andronikou claims #Pompey currently owe HMRC £1.6m after two missed payments. More in today's News. Here we go again....

FFS....just someone put them out of their misery! How can the football league not dock points after TWO missed tax payments?

Wind Up Pompey, Pompey Wind Up.

Last time this happened HMRC pushed hard to have them wound up and forced them into Admin, motivated by a desire to serve a warning to football clubs. Now, with the challenge to the football creditors rule ongoing, will they be so keen?

Think this time there are pretty clear Statements in the Public Domain which indicate that HMRC do not have a cat in Hell's chance of getting the payments UNLESS they are sold.

With the football creditors ruling they also know Admin will get them nothing and nothing from the previous CVA.

However each week that passes that figure will rise. So it comes to a point where they will have to decide. If they close them down (some) of the players will move to other financially sound clubs and so they will get some of their taxes moving forwards.

But to miss TWO payments - Oh dear, so they have NOT had enough cash to pay HMRC for two months and yet are still bringing in players....

It appears that HMRC have been in a position to push pompey over the edge for a while. You wonder if their failure to do so has to do with the ongoing football creditors rule court case as HMRC would get more money from pompey if HMRC won that compared to now?

insolvent.

Next case.

And intentionally so, turning down money, directing the loan from Chanrai not to pay tax but to players, once again the priorities are all wrong.

They knew that if they missed wages the league would bang in the penalty, they hoped to hush up the missed tax.

Tis nearly over.

This is rivetting and laughing is good for your health so I'm feeling fit as a fiddle now.

BUT MODS, or Steve:

I paid my subs last Wednesday and I think all my emails to SG go to his spam folder, so can you update my membership status PLEASE. I wouldn't want to miss contributing to the fun when I finally work out some insightful thoughts on the situation, or even just to congratulate some of the other posters for their information, insight or plain wicked humour...

THANK YOU!

‘Administration is not on the cards and it is the last thing we would consider.

‘I can say that the club has not got significant debts, it has significant cash flow issues.’

Two different interpretations of significant in one sentence there I think. As to admin not being on the cards.....

An HMRC spokesman said it is unable to discuss individual cases due to taxpayer confidentially.

They said: ‘Any business that regards paying tax as an optional extra after other expenses are met, or that uses tax collected from employees or customers as working capital, is potentially heading for trouble.’

I must admit that I used to be a devotee to this thread but only now dip in and out so my detailed knowledge of the goings on is not up-to-date. But...

Why would it be in Andronikou's interest to come out with this news?

And why now?

I seriously doubt that anything will happen tp PFC that will mean liquidation. NO ONE will have the guts to pull the plug, simply because there are so many other football clubs close to be insolvent that it would bring down the whole english football system. For that reason they will continue to bail clubs out and give them more time.... our nations economic failings in one very short and smelly lesson!!

When did these feckers actually last pay any tax?

November apparently.

So if December and January have been missed, can't see HMRC giving them further leeway into a third month.

Mero's right - this is the beginning of the end - 2010 was the end of the beginning.

Football League HAVE to act on this - and the national press MUST cover it correctly. http://www.football-league.co.uk/page/ContactUsDetail

So now we know their tax bill is £800k per month. I suspect VAT is due shortly also, and then there's the wagesin 10 days time................

Players and staff at the club are expected to be paid this month, according to Mr Andronikou

Its easier to afford wages when you don't pay the tax apparently.

Yes, I should have read the article before posting. Makes you wonder what the taxman will make of turning down offers for players last week that would presumably have gone some way to covering this debt.

Mr Andronikou told The News the HMRC are looking at the situation ‘very carefully.........I can say that the club has not got significant debts, it has significant cash flow issues.’’.

Poor cashflow management is the primary reason for a vast proportion of business failures.
