Pompey Takeover Saga

well it appears that they have helped push Watford to the brink - tonight they seem resigned to administration.

If this is the case, hopefully the knock on effect from one of Mr Fry's colleagues calling in debt will be the dominoe that brings the Fratton house of cards crashing down.

(or have I mixed my pub game analogies there?...)

That is hilarious, this is well beyond a plausible comedy now, it's gone into ludircous farce.

Faraj running around with his trousers down, the vicar at the door, comical defending, it's got the lot - and more!

Has it got to the point where we feel sorry for them yet, it can't go on like this.

They must have technically been in admin for months, please put us all out of our misery.

Don't you just get this horrible feeling that they will just get away with this (after eventually paying up their debts), and then stay up?

they shouldn't be allowed to let it drag on this long, but this is the FA and PL we're talking about.

THE new finance chief at cash-strapped Portsmouth is a convicted fraudster.

It just keeps getting better !!!:D:D:D

Reading this, his past even makes Barry The Briefcase look like Mary Poppins !

How ludicrous it is that this man can even get near a job with a PL club without somebody at the PL pressing the alarm bell!

Desperate all round!

Firstly, this is so funny and I wish it could go on forever - however, at some point they are going to go 'pop'

That said, I am concerned about the silence from the Premier League over not only this, but EVERYTHING that has and is happening at Portsmouth... are they just hoping they go down so that the Football League can deal with them?

Me too.

I'll consider that the icing on the cake though. I'd be quite happy if they implode in Feb.

i cant see it any other way...

they will lose what...4,5 or maybe 6 players for a few weeks in jan..

they will maybe pick up a fee for Nugent and A N Other (maybe Utaka)..

they will maybe extend o'hara's loan and get someone else in (who wont be that good)

I just cant see how they will survive..

also, what points did we go down on, will be even funnier if they went down on less points...after they laughed at us back then

Utaka won't go anywhere.

He won't get his current wages or anywhere near them elsewhere.. everyone (apparantly) hates the guy... he'll sit ther euntil his contract runs out and pick up a nice signing on fee as a free...

On the subject of John Utaka, pretty sure I saw him in the Cart and Horses in King's Worthy on Saturday night. Typical blonde WAG on his arm. What's the matter, don't they have decent pub/restaurants in the Skate catchment area?

I cannot see the FA lifting their transfer embargo, especially with money owed to Watford and other clubs, therefore O'hara's loan cannot be extended and who would want to buy Utaka when there are better prospects at a donkey sanctuary.

If they need to sell then it'll be from their better but smaller pool of players.

the real gem is that this development highlighted by The Sun must have shot to bits any hope of refinancing.

'Hi, I'm a serial fraudster with many convictions, I'm representing a company on the brink of implosion, can we have lots of your money please with no chance of a return or even repayment as we have no real income, and we only need your cash because someone in the office has already stolen the other £100M we had'.

Of course they've already had the Rix farce a few years ago!

A wage is only a good one if it is paid. Linvoy Primus would have chosen a career ending insurance payment over his prospects with the Pompey Payroll department.

My favourite pompey fan quote of the day from their messageboard:

If a buyer can no tbe found, then the PL/FA or Uefa should step in and take control and help sort the financial mess and find a buyer. If they let a club such as ours go out of business it could see the pack of cards come crashing down.

LMFAO. What planet do they live on?

:D - clueless, deluded mongs.

i see them as a great big whitehead, just coming to the surface...about to go pop.

ok, not a great image - but i think it sums them up nicely.

given how long this has been going on for, I am resigned to the fact that they will survive both as a club and in the premiership.

8 wins in the league will mean they will stay up. I can see 10 winable matches for them. I have ignored draws.

Agree totally think it goes back to lovable Harry and what a fabulous traditional club pompey is, plus of course not wanting any embarrasment on the PL, I think the PL would be very happy to see PFC get relagated asap. Watfords plight does not help anyone but perhaps teams should be more careful who they do business with in the future, I for one hope they get sorted thats Watford not PFC

We are totally up to date with our payments to Watford. Dont let facts get int he way though will you

That's probably because you've not come up on the second Payment date YET, and not had time to default on it. Still that's only 1 of the many things outstanding your up to date with, hardly something to be proud of is it.

another day, another problem.

This is like 20 years of strife at any other struggling club all condensed into six months.

I suppose it would be apt if the man who lifted the cup they purchased brings them down because they didn't pay his win bonus.

Whoever's writing the script is definitely a Saints fan.

And I didn't miss the Rix farce comment - too sharp (old) for most on here!

not sure they will go bust- if so would it not have happened by now?

That's my take on it as well.

Regardless of how much they are in debt, the new guy bought out fahim for over 20 million (If the reports are right) and have borrowed another 20 on top of that. Nobody just walks away from that sort of money, so they will keep begging and borrowing and bank on them staying up.

If they go down, it could be a different story, as they will find it harder to raise any capital.

I can't see any players wantintg to go there (Even if the transfer ban is lifted) and clubs selling will want their money up front.

It will come down to whether they stay up or not
