There's a rumour doing the rounds that Redknapp has been sentenced to 13 weeks in prison - his regular column in Saturday's Sun was missing, but I don't think anyone's actually been able to prove or disprove that one yet.

Would be amazing. The best thing about that is he won't ever be England manager.

2 bookings for Ward and Halford already.

If they really are not going to add to their threadbare squad then this will be their undoing. It's all very well going into a long league season with a small squad, but the very first prerequisite would be to instil and maintain discipline. They cannot afford cheap bookings and Cotterill needs to stamp his mark about it onto the players.

Currently they can barely populate the bench with a full compliment, keep going at this rate and they could even fail to populate the pitch...!

What is all this about a small squad? I really annoys me when they say they 'cant fill the bench'

***** off! Everyone else has to fill it with youth if they are in a bit of trouble. Hell, we had to fill the majority of out starting 11 with youth when we were in the sh1t

TBF this won't last, they will get in their allowed 5 loans soon but it won't stop them whining about being stretched with the smallest squad in the league !

At least they don't have to worry about the Carling cup anymore either !

yeah Gemmel - they paid off the outstanding cancer charity with a full public apology and confirmed that the small creditors had all been paid in full as well.

They are now starting the CVA next month at 50p in the £ to clear the debt as quickly as possible, and the Russians have confirmed that Cotterill will have to make do with younger players or frees that will fit into a £8K a week wagecap, as the last thing they want to do is trade insolvently.

They also apologised for the misleading financial statements that have been presented to courts over the last two years, just before returning the fa cup that had been illegally obtained through deception and financial irregularity - the fa accepted their apology and scrubbed their name from the records.

Lampitt admitted that he was only in there to protect the image of the football authorities and confessed that he felt out of his depth, the team also went on a sponsored and incident-free trip to the States that really helped their preparation for the new season.

They beat Real Betis 4-3 in front of a packed Fratton Park before overcoming the mighty Boro on the opening day in front of 1,200 travelling fans, the goals coming from £6K a week Ben Haim and £4K a week and totally uninjured Lawrence.

The club also intend to finance the ward at QA that had to be closed when the taxpayer was robbed.

Other than that it's been pretty quiet.

Oh, and the few pretended they hadn't seen us destroy Leeds on the telly, though several of them look pale and anxious at the thought of the rematch.

If Carlsberg did Pompey........

They were aloud 7 subs last night and they named 4. No sign of any youth but dont think they actually have a youth squad right now. Maybe a few youth players though. Im sure they used some youth in the pre-season so it seems strange that they dont at least give them a place on the bench in these times. Every other manager is questioning the reduced subs for league matches as it makes it harder to bring youth through to the 1st team. Pompey have a golden opertunity to get one step ahead of the rest of the league on that count but choose not to take it.

The difference between an ethical club and one that does not give a flying feck would be my guess (although we all know Lowe was desperate to keep some shareholder value and avoid admin) we feilded wahat we could afford - pompey will bleat, moan and whinge and get in loans to meet league requiremenst as suspensions and injuries take hold... and the FL will grant them those emergency loans as we all know due to a lack of vertebrae

It doesn't change the point that you are making but they actually only managed 3 subs...

Maybe if they didn't pay they players they have so much they would be able to afford a few more of them.

Stand corrected. I just presumed they had the 4. Remember reading it last night but didnt pay that much attention.

I do hope someone at the FA/FL is taking notice of how many people they actually have on their books so they can flick the V's at them when they cry about not having enough players to fill the bench. I know I am living in a dream land to think that will actualy happen but still.

So, basically, yet again the great poopey plan is to steal from others..

Oh not in the same way as before. But it amounts to the same thing.

They don't get in enough players to make a squad so what is the plan?

Simples, go and beg some PL clubs and get players in "'cos we're poor old hard done by poopey innit" "please pay all their wages and please don't charge us any fees, we'll just give them lots of game time so that you can have them back in January or whenever in case you get short.

Pathetic, and may not work this time round if old "arry" has to take a late unplanned summer vacation.

Everyone else tries to play by the rules, the fish just have become so ingrained they know they can bend them. Still at least the Refs have started to make them try and keep in the rules. How many Yellow cards?

and with the world famous Gus Poyet's amazing diving and time-wasting circus up next!

That will be worth a few cards for the frustration alone.

I'm confused, who do we dislike the least this week?....I guess a draw and four red cards would suit us best.

As obnoxious as Gus is, I still have to give the nod to the DFCSBs. Of course the more red cards the merrier (for both sides).

TBH, I'd want the Cheats to lose even if they were playing Hitler's favourite 11.

Well, it certainly won't be the same when this classic thread winds down after Cheats FC are finally liquidated. But I'm sure we will be able to cope.

On a happier note, now that we've signed Fox, our fifth left back, we actually have more left backs than Cheats FC have players available for their bench.

Funny old game, innit?

Cotterill is now "probably hopeful" that they'll be getting some new players in before the end of the week.

It's always the probable hope that kills Steve.

This article just oozes desparation. As do many of the comments underneath. I almost felt sorry for the poor chap in comment #89 who paid out £60 to take himself and his 3 kids on Tuesday.

I notice there was no mention of our crowd number against Barnet. Wonder why that was?

As for Brighton being a local derby - LOL.

Once we actually have enough players to fill a bench we'll be OK. Until then it's no wonder people are reluctant to pay £32 is it?

I wouldn't go in for free.

Sorry, I we meant to feel sorry for you?

What happened to your entire youth team last season? Oh that's right, Clotterill decided you didn't need one in your quality over quantity regime.

I guess you must be really looking forward to the hopeful possibility that you might sign a new player before the end of August.

Nevermind eh, there's always the loan market to dip in to for your seven loans to top up the numbers. That has to be the best business plan doesn't it! Paying out shed loads of money for players that you have to give back at the end of the season, not even any hope of getting any money back via the transfer market :D

No, you're not meant to feel sorry for us, though as your ticket prices are almost as high as ours I thought you might agree that pricing in football is ridiculous, especially given the economic climate at the moment. I assume if you go up your prices will go up again to around the £40 mark. Let's see how happy you are if that happens.

And you think we don't have a youth team? LOL

There was. Something like just about 50% more than you managed at SMS.

Now then, where are all these millions going to get spent to improve the Arena & the Squad?

Or are you waiting for the loans again.

Still, easy for Snotrill to foster team spirit when they can all sit together around the lunch table at the training ground.

Do you have a youth team where any of the players are considered good enough to play in the first team? If not then not much talent in your youth team then, if yes then why are they not filling the bench?

It's looking ok for them according to Drayton (post 93)... “6” IN and “1” OUT. TBH to QPR with Lee Cook IN as part of the deal, saving us 35k odd a week, god bless this happens. Grand Leadbitter, Ryan Shotton, Danny Haynes, Kevin Lisbie and Mark Marshall all IN. Three deals done today and tomorrow and 3 more finished next week.

PS, do we know the season ticket numbers sold?

I really don't understand why if the players are "tired" (according to SC) why you didn't fill the bench with youth players..... Or at least blood a couple against Barnet.

Is it because any young players you had were sold or released last season? Mind you, you do have a player in the England youth setup don't you?

1. You're only complaining about the prices because your team is so sh1t!

2. If you have a youth team, why not stick some of them on the bench to make up the numbers? Nobody is giving Pompey any sympathy this season as you used all the same sob stories last year. The rest of the league has run out of crocodile tears for Cheats FC as well :D

Maybe we'll use the SAAB loan to pay for some players. What do you think Phil?

Ryan Williams, a young Aussie winger is now in the first team squad. Looks a very good prospect. Sam magri, who was the England U17 captain is also a very highly rated defender and is on the fringes of the squad

Fortunately I'm in the position where I can afford the prices so it's not an issue for me but thousands of others aren't (not just Pompey fans here.) £32 for an Championship game is ridiculous really.

On the subject of the youth team most Pompey fans wouldn't disagree with you. Take a look at any of our messageboards and you'll see that.

That's three posts girls so don't look for any replies from me.

And keep clinging to the idea that we won't sign any more players to boost the squad. It'll keep you moist for a few more days yet I guess

It's more interesting to see whether you sign players or you sign loans.

Hell, even a Goldfish could work out you have to do something with the squad (maybe why your message boards are questioning the kids & the bench issue).

What happens in the next 19 days will show everyone what the new owners really have in store for you. Their pronouncements to date haven't exactly been deafening.

My thoughts on your start. Only a total idiot would not at least allow one or two of the kids to sit on the bench to see what happens during a game even IF they had no intention of bringing them onto the pitch. It's called learning.

(doh silly me - poopey & learning what was I thinking)

32 quid a ticket - indicates what the owners may be after

So now we wait for the Intent. Loans again or actually start to build a squad.

Jury's out ATM, I know a couple of my skate mates are almost as twitchy as old 'arry about things.

Guess it's back to tick tock. Patience again
