hypochondriac Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Once it's finished, of course. Not sure you'll be able to pick it up once this saga ends.

Thedelldays Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 I remeber Corp.... And all them on fans-online saying we did feck all during our 27 years in the top flight looks like they ate going to be one of the biggest embarrassments we have ever seen
Gingeletiss Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 How about 'For Whom the Bell Tolls'? Better.........'For Whom the Bell Chimes'.........
suewhistle Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 This morning's Guardian: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/dec/08/peter-storrie-portsmouth-future
hutch Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 (edited) The usual smell, from the spokesman quoted in the Express article: "People here are working around the clock to make sure this football club does not go into administration." and "chief executive Peter Storrie left at the weekend for a two-week break in Australia" Not all the people, obviously, and "We have gone into Portsmouth to sort out the mess." The vultures have now arrived, to pick over the carcass. And, what does "wide of the mark" mean. When I was coached in the art of answering awkward questions, I was told that there are only 3 possible answers - yes, no or I don't know. Edited 9 December, 2009 by hutch
Atticus Finch of Maycomb Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 And, what does "wide of the mark" mean. When I was coached in the art of answering awkward questions, I was told that there are only 3 possible answers - yes, no or I don't know. I should expect he was describing Pompey strikers and their efforts on goal!!!:p!!!:p!!!!1!!
bungle Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 American Football has an interesting system. The team that finishes bottom has first pick of the next season's college draft, and every team has a maximum amount that it can spend in total on players' wages, no matter how many players they have. Look at how varied the Superbowl winners are to see how it works. Mind you, franchises there can up sticks and move to another city thousands of miles away. The US system is illegal here as it would be deemed a "restriction of trade".
JackFrost Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Radio Solent was discussing Pompey going into administration this morning. Anyone hear it?
INFLUENCED.COM Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 How about 'The lying, The Rich and The Ones in Robes'
Doctoroncall Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 One question for those saying that the Premier League would bail them out to prevent them going into admin: If that did happen and therefore Pompey avoided a 9 pt penalty, what would happen if they then managed to escape relegation? Wouldn't the team who DID get relegated feel obliged to sue the Premier League for taking actions which led directly to them being relegated? Would the Premier League really risk another trip to the law courts after the whole Sheffield Utd vs West Ham nonsense? We will soon see how tough the PL are if they lift the transfer embargo. I agree that the competition needs to be a level playing field for all teams and the PL will find itself in court if the skates get a helping hand, although perhaps it will be a case of if they receive help they are given a penalty as well.
Whitey Grandad Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 The US system is illegal here as it would be deemed a "restriction of trade". Indeed, but I believe Platini has some 'interesting' suggestions for Europe.
EastleighSoulBoy Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 And the Football League hope they go bust so they can wash their hands of it and put the ball in the hands of the Blue Square or Southern League. Oh yes perleeeeeease!

EastleighSoulBoy Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 How about 'The lying, The Rich and The Ones in Robes' Now that I do like!
BGF Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Regarding Admin for the skates, Solent said that it was in the Daily Express today and they were working 24hrs round the clock to avoid it.
rooney Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 A good read in the DT today about all the debt http://www.telegraph.co.uk/kelso

S-Clarke Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 (edited) If they come out of the other end of this, with no points deductions or punishments, then football is screwed. They shouldn't be able to get away with what they did. They're not in this position for any other reason than chasing the dream, very similar to leeds. I'm sure in comparison they spent the same amount as Leeds did a few years back (maybe even a bit more) If they do go down, i have no doubt that they'll be a complete train wreck. The worry is that they do stay up - as the premiership these days is full of utter dross. You do not need to be superstars to stay up this season. Edited 9 December, 2009 by S-Clarke
krissyboy31 Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Good to see Storrie's gone off to Aus on holiday. That's real dedication to the cause! Unless, of course, the rumours about gardening leave were true?
spyinthesky Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Actually he is appearing in 'I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here' to raise some much needed cash Bush tucker trial will be a doddle after eating the pies at Fartton Park
Whitey Grandad Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 A good read in the DT today about all the debt www.telegraph.co.uk/kelso Interesting reading. They definitely are it a bit of a mess (don't laugh, it's not funny :smt044 ). What exactly is the corporate structure there?
Thedelldays Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Please for the love of god. Let them go into admin and get the most severe penalty in the CCC... I would live to see them in league 1 after the shyt they gave us
Thedelldays Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Listening to the radio this morning. Some stupid dithering journo prat was talking about pompey and how if harry had stayed he would have done something to stop this from happening. Do they really believe what they say to each other they are fuk'd and after the way they gloated to us a few months back. I can't wait to see them fall. I hope they get a very severe penalty in th CCC that will inevitably mean league 1 football soon after Disgusting club. I hope their great cup win was well worth it
fromdayone Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 check out todays Telegraph.co.uk....... 60m in debt!! someone with a brain will have to post the link.
Master Bates Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 check out todays Telegraph.co.uk....... 60m in debt!! someone with a brain will have to post the link. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/portsmouth/6763886/Peter-Storrie-goes-abroad-to-plug-60m-hole-as-Portsmouth-deadline-looms.html I don't have a brain either.
Clapham Saint Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Lots of statements coming out of farton along the lines of 1) "There is no truth in the reports that the club might go into administration" and 2) "We are working around the clock to avoid administration". Now maybe they could explain how, if the first statement is true.... the second is required.
Whitey Grandad Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Listening to the radio this morning. Some stupid dithering journo prat was talking about pompey and how if harry had stayed he would have done something to stop this from happening. Do you think he saw this coming? If they do get relegated with a points sanction, would it still apply in the Football league?
stevegrant Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Listening to the radio this morning. Some stupid dithering journo prat was talking about pompey and how if harry had stayed he would have done something to stop this from happening. If anything, the implosion would have been even more spectacular if he'd stayed.
rallyboy Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 re the financial institutions, the little wheezy skate is swimming with sharks while wearing a high-viz waistcoat crafted from raw steak. More disturbing news for them, Gold and Sullivan are trying to buy into West Ham and invest in new players. Whoops. The poor teams are starting to stir.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Haven't seen or heard much about Pompey's amazing new stadium plans recently? And their fantastic training facilities? Where's all that talk gone?! Wasn't it supposed to look like this: At this rate it's more going to look something like this:
Whitey Grandad Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 The big flash appartment block got vetoed by the Navy because the carriers would have kept on bumping into it.
Master Bates Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 That reminds me, I need to go to the toilet.
Weston Super Saint Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 At this rate it's more going to look something like this: Is that guy on the right wearing the tie called 'LifelongCherryPipSaintSkate'??
Whitey Grandad Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 That reminds me, I need to go to the toilet. It's a bidet, not a toilet. It's a common mistake.
Eastcowzer Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Listening to the radio this morning. I hope they get a very severe penalty in th CCC that will inevitably mean league 1 football soon after Disgusting club. I hope their great cup win was well worth it Harry was one of those responsible for the present situation. He 'busted' WHU then 'Skatesburg' and pretty soon Tittingham Spuds.
OldNick Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Those Pompey transfer gossip threads are going to be fun soon. Anybody got a good song to the tune of Tony Christies one they abused us with in our relegation season?
rooney Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Even the Journos are beginning to say that the overspending by Rednapp and condoned by Gaydamak created this mess. I bet Storrie egged Gaydamak on that all would be ok with Harry at the Tiller, and the man was bewildered by it all.
Verbal Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 It's a bidet, not a toilet. It's a common mistake. And the owner is a certain Walter Mitty. That thing is ridiculous on so many levels.
Saint J 77 Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Good to see Storrie's gone off to Aus on holiday. That's real dedication to the cause! Unless, of course, the rumours about gardening leave were true? Gardening leave is one thing but I think its more likely he has done a runner!
Thedelldays Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 Oh, how times change LOL I tell you what...the next time we play them at SMS it is going to be very hostile...we proper owe them a spanking on the pitch and the saints fans will litterally sing their hearts out like never before..... we owe them big time
Crab Lungs Posted 9 December, 2009 Posted 9 December, 2009 I agree TDD.. I just hope we meet them again soon and we do turn them over. Meanwhile, this just.... numbed me.
