Pompey Takeover Saga

That headline is misleading.

Due diligence is finished... so what?! The fact they now want to renegotiate the price is hardly indicative of an impending completion.

"We are now making a final commercial assessment with information obtained through the due diligence process," said Al Fahim's advisor Ivo Ilic Gabara.

"We will then sit down and negotiate a final price based on how much both parties think the club is worth.

Frankly, they could be miles apart. "A commercial assesment" - sounds like it's in the balance to me.

Yes indeed. I seem to recall that Pinnacle had apparently completed due diligence prior to gaining exclusivity. Many a slip 'twixt cup and lip and all that, eh.

EXCLUSIVE: Portsmouth deal to be sealed on July 24

by Anil Bhoyrul on Wednesday, 15 July 2009

Confidential documents seen by Arabian Business show that Dr Al Fahim,

who launched his bid for the Premier League club on May 27, has now

agreed terms with the club. He will meet with club boss Peter Storrie

Thursday evening in London, with the takeover likely to be officially

announced on July 24, after the Premier League has completed its "Fit

and Proper" persons test.

According to a 48 page document entitled "Portsmouth: The New Era", it

is also understood that current manager Paul Hart will be kept in charge

of the club. "Mr Hart understands this club better than anyone coming in

from the outside and deserves the opportunity to take it forward," the

document says.

It also details Dr Al Fahim's schedule for the coming months, saying the

new owner "envisages attending every home game between August 15 and the

end of 2009", and will host "Fans Sessions" on Friday evenings before

home games.

"As we move forward, the importance of Portsmouth fans, and their views

on the future direction of the club, cannot be underestimated. We must

have a constant dialogue with them, and begin this process from Day

One."

Dr Al Fahim himself meanwhile, according to sources close to him, is

already working on detailed plans for the coming season.

"Put it this way, he will be on a plane for seven hours tonight and

studying team sheets rather than accounts. We have moved to the next

phase, which is preparing for the season ahead," says the source.

Dr Al Fahim will be travelling with his family to London, and stay in

the UK capital for several days. "It's a mini family holiday, but that

way he will be around if the Premier League need to see him," adds the

source.

'Studying team sheets', suppose he knows alot about football. Wonder who will really be in charge of football matters. If they keep Heart as manager would that be because the Dr would be able to be his own kinda 'DOF' just a thought.

No sorry, but my source has his finger, if not on the pulse, very near it and I trust him implicitly.

There has been a few things reported about the prospective new owner over the last few weeks which makes one suspicious. I have tried to point out that we were the lucky ones compared with the skates. They are £30-40M in debt, have sold large part of their squad, which they can't afford to replace, they currently stand no chance in the Premiership.

The new chap wanted Man City, but was ejected by his consortium friends. Why? He has also been removed from the property development company he has been running. Why? He calls hims "Dr" but he isn't, neither a medical nor anything else. It's a lie.

To me this sounds like a chancer with no money. Like Mickey Fialka actually, but on a much grander scale.

Ah, so obviously his big TV series isn't getting a second outing then.

And hmm - seeing as he was the successful boss of such a major corporation here, he suddenly has all that time on his hands.

Sk*tes owned by Sultan bin Trump, you guys all excited by it, lmfao, Rupert would be a less egotistical owner.

After all he is responsible for producing tv of such outstanding quality and entertainment value........

You REALLY know what's coming don't you....

The Sk8tes - Britain's first reality TV football club.

That's how he's gonna fund it - all those premium rate phone calls as the fans vote on next week's team.

(Shame no-one mentioned how few calls he'd really get)

I don't really think so. Time has moved on since his post, and anything is possible. The difficulties of negotiating any contract are well known.

I am surprised if 'fit and proper persons' has been completed though. A lot of disinformation is happening imho.

I wouldnt have remembered where it was, you seemed to know it straight off the bat. I dont take a keen interest in these matters myself but I recall in the tabloid feeding frenzy about a decade ago the main focus was on a scratter farm in skateville with rentamobs driving supposed paedophiles out of their patch. Apologies for inadvertently equating portsmouth with swansea btw, in case any welshmen are reading this

Yes we did read that. We also read that Pinnacle was there and only a couple of minor legal issues were holding things up.

I believe it is going to happen for you,but there are a couple of things that would alarm me if I was banking on it.Good luck.

Anil Bhoyrul - a journalist you can really trust.

Anybody remember the Daily Mirror's 'City Slickers'?

"Anil Bhoyrul is a former Daily Mirror business journalist who was investigated over the so-called 'City Slickers' share tipping scandal along with the paper's then editor, Piers Morgan.

Bhoyrul has since been employed by Richard Desmond's Express group, where he has written articles under the byline Frank Bailey. [1]

On 7 December 2005, Bhoyrul and his former Daily Mirror colleague James Hipwell were convicted of conspiracy to breach the Financial Services Act 1986. Bhoyrul was sentenced to 180 hours of community service on 20 January 2006.

Bhoyrul currently resides in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where he works for Arabian Business, a weekly English-language magazine published by ITP." (Wikipedia)

Radio Solent have reported that PR spokesman for the Dr. is claiming the report is unfounded. No completion date is agreed and the PL investigation could be a lengthy process.

I don't. Duncan's source on these matters is very good. Things can change but so far events seem to be supporting his sources information.

In fairness I have no idea what or who Duncan's source is. It certainly isn't the first time he has made a prediction which hasn't happened. IF it happens then fair play and I hope it does but if not we have a massive thread on our main board praising the fact that the PFC takeover has collapsed which will look really really sad if it goes through.

I think this will all go through eventually, but nowhere near the reported 60 million. (You could buy Everton for that money - According to Kenwright)

Dr Dubai, has gayboy over a barrell. Gayboys loan notes have dried up and he now needs to get shot, the longer this all takes, the less its all worth and the nearer the season kickoff, the more vunerable they look.

My guess is that somewhere towards the end of this month, they will complete for an undisclosed fee

Unless of course the pizza takeaway in New york, is doing incredibly well :smt044

I think we on here have the benefit of hindsight...

Many people here (myself included) were in the same sort of denial over the pinnacle bid that many pompey fans appear to me.

there are so many questions being asked with no answers.

Their star players are being sold off.

They have no manager

It a month until the start of the season

The "takeover" is dragging on and on.

Many of us ignored the similar questions we asked ourselves over the pinnacle bid.. there were a handfull of posters (GM etc) who were savy enough to realise when we were being taken for a ride...

Luckily we had several other serious parties interested in us...

I fear for Pompey.... weirdly!

Radio5 just said that Sunderland have had a bid for Crouch accepted. IF this is so close to completion why sell the assets?

Sounds very similar to our own DMG/Pinnacle situation.

They are not close to completion as a price has yet to be agreed between gaydamak & the buyer.

If you were trying to buy a club and the club is selling its best players, surely the price would be dropping.

Yup, it sounds to mke like either Guydamk (however you spell it) is either asset stripping to get as much cash out of the club as he can (i'd guess he's loaned the club all the money he's put in and is using these sales to pay himself back tax free) or treading water like a mad man trying to keep the wolves (banks) from the door.....

Neither of these are the actions of a solvent company looking to sell itself...

We only flogged players because we didn't have a choice.....
