Pompey Takeover Saga

Nah. They're going to use Fratton Park for training on smartbombs. All been organised with agreement of the current owners (whoever they are) to save on redevelopment demolition costs..

That's no good.

They use it for target practice they'll do 200 million

Worth of improvements

i thought Chester went to the wall only a year ago.

If the case is that the courts will not liquidate, lets all go to the party and sign up whoever and compete with Man City in the transfer market

Why not? Pompey have shown everyone how to do it with little punishment and the footballing authorities have so far set a very worrying precedent.

Chester were in the Conference (5th tier) when they went bust, it appears they were just small enough to be accountable to the law unfortunately.

Unless there are massive changes in how English football and even FIFA are run and whilst all the murky politics and Sky are lurking, the relatively big English clubs will all get bailed out one by one, over and over again.

The takeover will be completed in the next 24 hours.

Bloody hell,close the thread.

Nah, this is still going to be alot of fun. This is a non-takeover really, no real investment and they'll settle to their level.

Case against Storrie and MM continues tomorrow (http://www.courtserve2.net/courtlists/current/crown/sthwk_T110601.01.htm).

I assume there is some sort of media blackout on reporting about this? (possibly I guess because it could not only affect this trial but saggies as well?)

I messaged BBC_Matt earlier to ask if he or the Beeb was there for it and he didn't know it was on today. He said they have been to the last couple but was not aloud to report so it wasn't worth it. Not sure if he will look any further into it or not now though.

Yer rite! And what the ***** are we going to giggle over until the start of the new season,

Oh mack, I wouldn't worry too much. I've absolutely no doubt your rotten, stinking cesspit of a football club has a few chortles left for all of us!

Christ is this thread still going?

I look forward to some summer entertainment.

I am meeting my original informer who gave me the info to start this thread tomorrow for a pint. I am sure he will have some more revelations.

Yep! You've got a lot to answer for Duncan! It's been great entertainment, and always good for a little break from lesson preparation.

Buy him a couple to loosen his tongue....

Jibber 'Pompey' Jabber

Convers, here's hoping the 'news' is true...we don't want an Abramovich....just a decent club run by decent people. PTID

Well, you're not a decent club and you're not going to be getting decent owners. You'll get the owners you deserve, more crooks, just like the past few.

Tony Brooks

Please say you will be taking over the greatest club on the south coast in the next 24 hours!!!

No, stay away from us. We are a decent club with decent owners already and we don't want dodgy Russians anywhere near us.

Well, it seems the few are getting very excited that (alleged) Russian mafia money launderers are about to take them over*.

But in fairness that would represent a step up from a loan shark, son of a child maimer, nonexistent sheik, and an ice-cream doctor.

(* or maybe not)

Considering Luton were only deducted 10 points for around 50 separate charges relating to tax misdemeanors (the other 20 were for failing to agree a CVA), and Storrie only has to answer for what 2? a points deduction like that will never happen as a result of Storrie's court case.

Let's not concern ourselves one way or the other. I'm sure the Cheats will be able to finish bottom all by themselves, without any help from a points deduction.

Anyone know if they have passed the FAPPT?

Last time they claimed they had, the FL put out a statement to the contrary :)

Nothing else has been said since, so presumably they haven't?

Is it actually possible to fail the FAPPT test?!

FL: "hello, are you human?"

Applicant: "yes"

FL: "well done, you've passed"

I'm a bit annoyed I wanted to play them in a uneven match. I wanted us to have the better team like they did when we lost in the FA cup last year. I wanted the upper hand for once for us. But if this dodgy takeover does go through it guarantees them money for players to strengthen the squad, which means a closer game. I wanted us to thrash them, both Home and Away and heap some pay back on them. But this takeover means those dirty skates b@stards will have a half decent team now, even if this takeover is dodgy, as it appears to be, and turns out to leave them in the sh1t later on down the line. At least from their point of view they will have a team to be competitive with this season. Hopefully they will not pass the Fit and proper test, oh no wait, the whole of football's governing bodies such as FIfa and the FA are, allegedly ;), corrupt so they will probably rubber stamp it,

I recognise those quotes from some time back...slow news day so heat up the old cr*p to wind up the few.

Spot the deliberate mistake....

A statement from the club said: ‘Convers Sports Initiatives plc, controlled by London-based Russian businessman Vladimir Antonov, has today completed the acquisition of the entire issued share capital of Portsmouth Football Club following approval by The Football League.

‘London-based businessmen Vladimir Antonov and Roman Dubov, Chairman and President respectively of Convers Sports Initiatives (CSI), together with their partner Chris Akers, the former CEO of Leeds United and Sports Internet Group, have bought the Fratton Park club for an undisclosed sum from Hong Kong businessman Balu Chainrai, his brother Deepak and Levi Kushnir.

‘Mr Antonov, 35, Mr Dubov, 36, and Mr Akers, 46, manage the commercial development of a growing portfolio of sports teams, franchises and rights through CSI, including: the Russian Ferrari race team, the Spyker Squadron motorsports team and North One Sport, the global promoters of the World Rally Championship (WRC), the Isle of Man TT race series, the Velux 5 Oceans Race and Clipper Round the World sailing events.

‘In November 2010, CSI acquired a controlling interest in PowerPlay Golf the exciting new golf format which is now played in over 25 countries. In February 2011 CSI acquired North One Sport and in the same month purchased a majority stake in DBG Convers, a specialist in developing social new media solutions for sports and entertainment brands and personalities including world heavyweight boxer David Haye. In March 2011 CSI secured a 65% share of Executive Sport Limited, the parent company of the high profile “Leaders in Football” conference. In May 2011 CSI purchased a majority stake in Sports International Ltd, the holding company of popular online platform SPORTPOST.com.

‘Commenting on the Portsmouth FC acquisition Mr Antonov said: “We have conducted extensive due diligence and held detailed negotiations with a number of clubs in the English Premier League, Championship, League One and Scottish Premier League over the past twelve months. We ultimately selected Portsmouth Football Club because of its history, loyal fan base and its potential to return to the Premier League.

“The supporters are amongst the most passionate in the game and that gives the business a strong foundation to build on.

“We look forward to working with all those connected with Portsmouth Football Club including the management, players, employees and sponsors as well as developing close ties with the City of Portsmouth and the community.

“We would also like to thank Mr Chainrai and his executive management team for their stewardship of Portsmouth Football Club through one of the most difficult times in its history, pre and post-Administration last year.”

"We need a statement of intent to build the new stadium this year, and we need to start seeing lots of premiership quality players swelling the ranks before pre season. I reckon if we signed 10-15 good premiership players we'll do well next season."

OK, which of us is HorseaHorsea ?
