Pompey Takeover Saga

No help required here - honest. But it's an idea in it's infancy, it needs tweaking, fine tuning - but it could work...! It wouldn't come into play every season - but I beleive that where a club is offering absolutely nothing competitive to the league in which they are playing then mid term relegation should be a consideration.

It would liven the lower league up as well - teams would want to get off to a good start - who you play is the luck of the draw, a bit like when you play them over the course of the season is a factor.

As I said previously - it is a radical idea, and it is just that - but it could work.

But it is completely unfair and there is no way you could make it fair.

For example...

Some teams may have played Leeds, Charlton, Norwich at home before January with a better chance of winning than a team that has only played Leeds, Charlton, Norwich away in the 1st half of a season. Some teams will have easier fixtures lists than others.

Promotion can only be given when everyone has had exactly the same fixtures.

I'm guessing they have to pay their loan players otherwise they will just go back to their parent clubs.

They are a complete joke, the Premier League must be sick to death of their "World's Greatest League" brand being associated with such a shoddy corrupt outfit. I can't see the transfer ban being lifted even if they find some cash.

There's only one thing funnier than none of the players being paid, and that's "a majority" of the players not being paid.

That's going to be fantastic for team spirit come Saturday.

The chants should be amusing on Saturday (I think it's live on Sky?)

Does anyone know if the O'Hara loan only until the end of this year?

So there is potential that if the new owner doesn't get some finance, not only will they not be able to sign anyone but they'll lose five of their better players and finally more money owed at the end of January...

"Perchance he for whom this bell tolls may be so ill, as that he knows not it tolls for him; and perchance I may think myself so much better than I am, as that they who are about me, and see my state, may have caused it to toll for me, and I know not that." PFC 2010

Interesting that the Guardian mentions the Williamson transfer - whereas there may be some goodwill left from the likes of Chelsea with regards to late transfer payments, I would imagine that there won't be much goodwill coming from Watford who themselves are in trouble financially.

As I said, it needs a 'team of tweakers' to make it work and iron out the 'fine detail' - but just think how much incentive it would give teams at both the top and bottom of the leagues.

*** Why the hell do I wait until 1.30 in the morning to come out with these damn radical ideas...? ***

May be it's only after a considerable time down the pub that you are able to think so "clearly".:D

"As Chairman of Portsmouth FC, I have always sought to adhere to the highest standards of transparency in the running of the Club, in particular, with regard to its finances,"

"This lack of openness is having a destabilizing effect on the Club and I, both as Chairman of Portsmouth FC and an ardent fan of the Club,.. blah blah balh !"

Lolage!

Oh dear oh dear.... aside form this being hilarious, why is the Chairman of any buisness not able to simply call the finance director/financial controller and ask to be given a copy of the Company's management accounts?

Unless ofcourse everything is totally totally F**KED and the majority shareholder is deliberately hiding it.

Reported by a Pompey fan to have come from Jacob by email last night. Fact or fiction you have to smile!

"Says there is a slight delay because the were let down by a funder... they are working round the clock to address the situation

Also stresses that the club's situation is now more stable than september i.e. progress has been made albeit slower than preferred"

it does appear that they are on the brink but personally I would prefer it if they just hung on and stumbled through the season and got relegated.

Then they will look at the figures in the summer and realise that the game is up, thus damaging another season and starting with a penalty.

This could be the longest running comedy ever.

And on a personal note, if this had occured ten years ago I would have had some sympathy, but the night they came to our ground and abused the silence for Ted Bates, that's when they showed their true colours and it was the night my attitude towards them changed.

The arrogant boasting and admin-related abuse dished out in the summer just adds to the current hilarity.

What's the temperature in Hampshire now boys?

The problems for them in administration will also be significantly greater than ours were.

With the stadium and surrounding property still owned by Gaydamak (apparently) the prospects of them being purchased from administration are also greatly reduced.

Anybody buying the "club", even for £1, would still need to either purchase the stadium from Gaydamak, or agree a rental.

In either event Gaydamak has them over a barrel and any deal would need to give him a better return than he could get from knocking everything down and building houses.

The only other options are to build a new stadium which would both cost a fortune and take time.

Maybe they could ground share with Havant... probably have a few empty seats though.

Anyone remember the good old days when Pompey was just Gaydamak's rich man's toy and he would never be so bothered about such vulgar things like getting his money back or a return on investment?

He was just chucking money at his beloved Pompey for his own amusement and for his love of the literally hundreds of world's-best-fans Pompey have.

Pretty sure if you scroll back on this very thread Mr Ho makes such claims. But I can't be bothered.

As much as I dislike the Skates I do not want them to go out of business, there are many small businesses(fishmongers etc), families and dare I say odd decent fan that does not deserve this and would suffer as such.

We were in a similar position and got lucky.....there for the grace of god and all that.

Harry will come in and rescue them anyway he said as much recently and I believe evry word he says...Pinocchio.

Storrie teller just been on live on Sky sports news said they've now paid the outstanding wages, it was just a small misunderstanding at the bank & its been Ironed out now. As for the refunding of the the club, he's been told that Ali Al Faraj & his advisor's are progressing the restructuring & are VERY CLOSE to securing the club, the FANS NEED TO BE A LITTLE PATIENT . Asked about the transfer embargo he replied its all very close to being lifted & had discussed with Faraj's advisor's Grants idea's for transfers & were supportive of them. :smt119

Well thats roughly what he said maybe not word for word, just more of the same. Almost makes me feel sorry for them

So we can expect one of CoHo's rare posts shortly only for him to vanish back to his gardening leave again when it fails to materialise.

Fortunately they made the last two owners go through the 'new stringent' test, otherwise they might have ended up with an arms dealer or a skint fantasist obsessed with taking out loans.

Interesting to hear Grant say today that he didn't know there were any financial issues -presumably he didn't know they were down the bottom either.

Breaking news.

http://newsarse.com/2009/12/04/portsmouth-millionaires-forced-to-go-three-weeks-without-further-millions/

:D

Mind you, it's getting to the point where satire isn't as funny as the real thing..

I know it's sarcasm but really, 30,000 attendances?

Another told us, “It’s tragic. How can a millionaire survive and maintain his ostentatious lifestyle without a ready supply of well-earned cash from me and 30,000 of my friends which he can then fritter away as he chooses?”

Peter Storrie quoted yesterday talking about the new owner(s).

"It is a difficult market in the financial world at the moment. They took the club over with little or no due diligence because of the situation with Sulaiman".

So the new owner is a "they" which is news to me and "they" bought the club with "little or no due diligence".

Christ they must still be in shock!
