Pompey Takeover Saga

Will Brighton be able to improve their squad?

Why wouldn't they?

Will our squad get stronger?

Why wouldn't it?

Will Pompey have a squad?

They are going to have to build a new one in the summer when their tiny squad gets ripped apart with loans and contracts ending.

I predict that Pompey will cease to exist during the summer, unless a new buyer is found.

Chanrai is clearly not going to invest anything in the club, and in its current state, no sane investor is going to throw any new money into that bottomless pit, the club is at the moment. Even these last two potential Russian buyers, Antonov and Dubov, has made no clear statement on how much money they are willing to invest, if any at all.

In my view, the season ticket renewals is the last effort by the owners to squeeze money from their supporters into their own pockets.

You miss my point.

Brighton should strengthen and will be a tough game for Pompey if they still exist.

We will probably strengthen if we go up and will also be a tough game for Pompey if they still exist.

And if Pompey don't get a take over before next season I doubt Chainrai will be too happy about funding replacements for all the players out of contract at the end of this season. He will have to decide on spending to keep them afloat or cutting his loses.

There is a good chance there won't be a club let alone a squad so it could be a good season for us and a bad one for the blue few.

Don't forget their wild card: promotion. They're not mathematically out of it yet, so some exciting games remain for the Cheats. With the very existence of the club probably hinging on promotion, you can't say it's going to be boring for the few for the next month or so. More like the ultimate squeaky bum time.

Still keeping my fingers crossed that Stevie boy's "paper thin" squad can keep the few's hopes alive for as long as possible.

Last minute dissapointment would be utterly beautiful. Alas, I can see it being academic with three games to go.

we have seen ourselves how difficult it is to build from scratch and we also know how getting out of a division isn't as easy as you think, so even big Russian money for laundering would be no guarantee of success.

There will be three more teams with parachute money, hopefully we'll come up and have funding, Brighton will have extra gate money and look to progress, there will be far more competition in the championship next year.

That would be maybe eight teams with better funding than them immediately, and we have seen what the coaching god Cotterill is capable of with the biggest budget in the division.

(By the way, I see it was the ref's fault again on sat.)

Their business model has to be based on outside investment or massive investment in a new ground, Fratton Park cannot generate enough money to finance promotion campaigns.

So panic not me old muckers, there is no quick fix down there.

I think it's unrealistic to imagine us storming through the division first time so we might have a couple of years with them, or even get to relegate them.

Which would be nice.

QUOTE:- 'Rocha was one of their best performers in the Premier-ship'

If my memory serves I think he spent more time off the field than on it.

Sent off at least twice, maybe three times, and he's managed to maintain that record this season as well.

Was signed under mysterious circumstances, i.e. paid up his contract with a German club so that he could sign for the (in)famous 'Skates'

I hate to be resonable to them but I think that was the serbian guy they signed just before our cup game. Don't think he ever played but I'm sure one of our resident skates can put me right if not! According to wiki Rocha signed from Standard Leige although he had, had his contract terminated.

As for the russians sounds a rum lot who if they manage to sneak past the FAP test it would be shown up again as a complete joke. I haven't been on the thread in a little while but wasn't this takeover sposed to be done and dusted a couple of weeks ago? ;-)

They should be ashamed of a mid table finish with the money lavished on the players this season. Cotterill has underperformed with the players at his disposal.

Stevie-Boy disagrees. After whinging about a disallowed goal, he comes up with these gems:

"Before the game I would have thought we needed six out of seven wins, or five wins and a draw and we'd be allowed one more defeat.

"So nothing really changes. We are capable of going on those runs because we have done it twice this season. We just need it once more.

"But really this season is amazing. We're sat here with 40 games on the board and I'm still being asked about the play-offs. I think it has been a marvellous achievement by everybody at the football club."

Atta boy Steve! Keeping the few's hopes up, prolonging their agony. Although I suspect his remarks are more directed at Chinny, who is probably fuming that his expensively assembled squad isn't going to give him the return on his investment, as Stevie-Boy and Lumpitt probably promised him at the beginning of the season.

What is again that loan sharks do to you if you squander their money and can't repay?

Kneecap you?

Murder your family with a hacksaw while you watch?

Or something REALLY nasty? such as give you a Season Ticket for Nott Arfkrap and send the boys round to ensure you watch EVERY game? Or in Snottrills/Lumpitts case keep you in your job for another year

what does a loan shark do if you fail to pay?

Well they could just take the business off you, pretend to be your owner and put you into administration for their own personal gain.

The next step would be to decide when to sell the debt on, presumably when there's no longer any chance of big short term gain and they see a dim punter kicking the tyres.

That'll be now then I guess.

Wasn't the Dubov/Antonov take-over of Pompey "imminent"?!.... It's gone very quiet again...

And with no Corp Ho back gloating, I assume it's all a load of b*ll*cks..... in other words: Just another day at Pompey :)

I don't think Corp Ho will ever post on here again, about 40-50 pages back some lad whose username I can't remember :( posted a collection of some of Corp's classic quotes such as how Javier Saviola was about to sign for them with Maradona as coach, and how AL-Fahim was richer than Abramovich.

Since that post, Ho has been strangely absent from this thread ;)

People are growing up with this thread. In 2020 when this thread reaches 50,000 pages and innumerable views with the laughs continuing, we can look back on it as a thing of beauty and try and get it preserved somewhere in internet history for future generations to gaze upon.

The man with the plan:

http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#!/roman.dubov?sk=info

So reading some of the russian mafia stories, it sounds like these guys have been involved in alsorts of dodgy deal, murders, million dollar swindles and so on:

http://www.rumafia.com/material.php?id=220

It looks like they have done a number of seriously corrupt deals merging small banks together to steal money from the Russian banking system.

From that article, which I am taking at face value, a number of lives have been lost (and his father crippled), and a number of people have lost everything, and having to flee for safety of their lives...

I suspect they may be trying to seek refuge in the UK ala Abramovich style before the Russian authorities forcably take the stolen millions back.

I wonder if 'convicted in absentia' Daddy Gadymack is anything to do with them, this kind of top governmental big money laundering is right up his street - although he sells the guns for the mafias activity rather than getting blasted by them.

General Motors corporation suspect these guys have links to the Russian mafia, so suspicious in fact they refused to go anywhere near them. They got duped in the end, through a smoke screen, and Spyker took control with the crooks hiding in the background.

I wonder if the FL will get conned as well? They got conned by Gaddy, the good DR, Ali and Baloo, so could it happen again?

Should we make the relevant authorities aware of the skates most recent situation, or do we sit back and laugh that dangerous criminals are about to, once again, sieze the skates black hole?

What on earth doe the FA's former 'Head of Integrity' think of the deal he is putting together? Did Cottager smash his moral compass in the Kitson fiasco, or did AA and TCWTB hypnotize him into the traditions of shambolic behaviour during the CVA?

Either way, if he really is a man of integrity, and not simply a very good PR magician, how does he sleep at night knowing what he is getting involved in? Does he worry for the safety of himself or his family? Has he already been threatened by the various frightening methods displayed in the Russian mafia link?

Four big blokes walking into my office brandishing revolvers (as in the article) would certainly make me question my loyalty to the skates, and I would gladly sign any contract they wish with blood, as long as it meant I got out alive.

Is this what is going on down at Fratton? In fact, when was the last time Limpitt publically spoke?

They may have failed dismally with the best team in the league, but they are certainly raising their criminality game 'to a level you couldnt quite believe' , these new boys might be a bit tasty even for the (SOCA) Serious Organised Crime Agency - who were quoted on SkySports stating 'they can neither confirm nor deny any investigations into skate fc (ie - their looking).

Who the **** is writing this script? It is becoming literary genius. It should be written into a novel - once the AFC skates are settled @ Moneyfields of course.

Staggering.

Surprised nobody has noticed that the few are about to be taken over.

Here is an up to date picture of their new owner

antonov.jpg

regulars on here might say : That makes sense, especially after their previous owner failed to even exist

In Jeremy Clarkson speak the explanation for that could be :

"Some might say that this could be the vehicle the new owners would use to fly the cash in every week to stem the losses"

Others could say "Just about big enough to take all of the Blue Few"

Some might even notice a link in the names

Well here's Dubov's website - no mention of Pompey in there although does mention Championship football

http://www.dubov.co.uk/questions/

Why football and why now?

I believe that I have enough experience and resources to pursue this opportunity. I have been a huge football fan since I was a kid and always wanted to be be a part of football history and now I have this chance. But Convers Sports Initiatives isnʼt just about about football, it’s about sports and sharing this excitement with fans.

Have you ever seen Championship clubs play?

Many times – the first time I saw them play live was in 2000. I admire the teams and their loyal fans a lot. I have watched the FA Cup final at Wembley and saw so many happy fans, it was indescribable.

Is it true that you attempted to acquire Bournemouth FC and Glasgow Rangers? And why did these deals fall apart?

Bournemouth was just speculation by unprofessional agents. We have never made any official offer and did not declare serious interest. Our plans were always bigger than league two. We never met with Eddie Mitchel, the owner. Bournemouth was interesting as a city and for business development. The desires of the agents and the reality are very different things.

Rangers is an absolutely different story. Yes, it is true that we were involved in the club acquisition attempt, but as a bank that financed this deal and NOT as people who made the offer. We were eager to learn how football works from the inside and to understand the level of business associated therein. We have met with parties interested in the club and remain good friends with Donald Murray. We respect him as a person who is loyal and who did a lot for the fans and for football. It was not the first time we have been involved in such deals as a financier. However, as far as we concerned, there are some issues with HMRT. We don’t know the full story, but this made the deal impossible in the near future.

We’ve heard that the Russian authorities are looking for someone with the same surname (Dubov), is this you?

No, you are confusing me with somebody else.

What challenges might you face?

Confusion – people confuse me for someone else with a dodgy past. But it’s not just me – as I mentioned earlier there was a journalist who wrote about Vladimir, this has caused us a lot of problems, but we are overcoming this, thought there is still a lot of work to be done in this direction.

Are there any further plans for Convers Sports Initiatives?

Let me put it this way. We are just starting and there will be more… much more.

Edit: and here's their 'banking' arm's website https://www.conversmoney.com/ hmm seem reputable enough - anyone daft enough to borrow at a typical apr of 2562%!! Still, should make it easier to sort a payment plan for the following year's season tickets!!

Yeah, it's an Antonov. You've "Google Imaged" the name of one of the people publicly rumoured to he involved and dressed up the result as some sort of cryptic ITK message. Frankly it smacks of pretty sad attention seeking and a desperate proficiency for baseless self-aggrandisement.
