SimonRichards Posted 3 December, 2009 Share Posted 3 December, 2009 Were not the only club who dislike the fishy ones.. James C (Manchester United fan) says... Surely going to the games would help the club overcome their financial troubles. If every fan lost faith then it would be a certainty that they would go into administration. Of course they rely on financial backing but ticket sales create a lot of revenue for the club. Posted 18:50 3rd December 2009 Billy Gaff (Vauxhall Motors fan) says... Hope that the points deduction they get is going to be like Southampton's - ie points off next year if they get relegated this season (what am I saying IF! its WHEN!) Portsmouth are making a mokery of the Premier league. Posted 18:50 3rd December 2009 Chris p Bacon (Birmingham City fan) says... So Gordon Taylor believes "That is what life is about in football, paying wages of the players."? Funny, because I thought football was about the joys and sorrows of the game, the passion of the fans, the artistry (or otherwise) of the players? Nice to see Taylor being honest for once about his mercenary ways. Posted 18:39 3rd December 2009 Bcfc ... (Birmingham City fan) says... rallyboy Posted 3 December, 2009 Share Posted 3 December, 2009 just a minor query which I am sure some Pompey fans might ask - where exactly has the £15M loan gone?? I thought about a month ago they had sufficient to clear the transfer debt and some of the tax/VAT, with enough to finance wages until the New Year. Neither seem to have been paid yet there isn't enough to pay £1.8M in wages?? The company is burning cash faster than Elton John at a florist convention. How do you mislay £15M, and can I have a front row seat when the auditors visit? They will be curious as well. Could this mean the last loan never actually happened and it was just more lies? Agenda for 2010 - Financial irregularities following Storrie guilty verdict - 10-25pt deduction? Admin - 9pt deduction Relegation anyway and resultant firesale = Start in Championship on minus 24pts with no cash, players or structure. OR billionaire with a mental illness and £200M to burn sails in tomorrow and Maradona is installed before Christmas, groundworks for the new stadium start in January, Messi fires the goals that lead them to midtable safety. Micky Posted 4 December, 2009 Share Posted 4 December, 2009 It can't be long until the FAPL step in surely. It's not as if they have been involved in a single isolated incident - the club is in meltdown, its board farcicle and the players demorilised beyond belief. I personally think that they should be relegated now. (Another radical Micky idea about to surface here). Mind you I have been thinking about this one for a while now. But I beleive that when a team such as Sunderland and Derby a couple of years ago offer no real competition whatsoever in the Premier League - then they should be relegated mid season and the team currently top of the CCC should take their place (and fixtures). What is the point of having a team that clearly is not competing in the league, it makes it much easier for the other relegation rivals as they know there are only 2 spots left to avoid. My idea would see Pompey relegated at Xmas and Newcastle or WBA promoted - it would liven the leagues up no end..! Just imagine the way Pompey are going they could actually get relegated twice in one season - how good would that be? The club is a mess, an embarrasment to the English league - how they have been allowed to play in the PREMIER League with a substandard 'Stadium', substandard Board, substandard 'Owner(s)' and substandard players is beyond me - time for the FAPL to step in, impose sanctions and effectively put them out of their misery. You are kidding surely? Quite possibly the worst football related idea I've ever heard. The team at the top of the Championship has had a different set of fixtures compared to every other club. How have they deserved promotion halfway through the season? A team top of the Championship in December is likely to be even worse than the team at the bottom of the Premeirship as they haven't had the millions that the teams in the Prem get to spend in the summer. If this was a real suggestion and not a wind up you, need help!

Quite right. But what we're now seeing is the long, agonising death of a football club, whose fate was sealed when the football authorities themselves lacked the courage to apply their own rules regarding the 'fit and proper person' test. From the moment Gaydamak got his hooks into the club, it was inevitable that he would play with it for a few years, then discard it like an expensive, unwanted and basically useless child's toy. The FA got very narrowly lucky with Man City, after declaring an epically corrupt Thai fraudster 'fit and proper'. This time, it's blown up in their face. It wouldn't come into play every season - but I beleive that where a club is offering absolutely nothing competitive to the league in which they are playing then mid term relegation should be a consideration. It would liven the lower league up as well - teams would want to get off to a good start - who you play is the luck of the draw, a bit like when you play them over the course of the season is a factor. As I said previously - it is a radical idea, and it is just that - but it could work.
