Gemmel Posted 28 February, 2011 Share Posted 28 February, 2011 So when does everyone reckon we will hear if they have been paid or not They will be paid. They are breaking even this season, based on two years worth of parachute payments. Next season is the real pain, when they need to buy a squad after their points deduction. They will probably take year 3 early at that point, but then they need to start servicing the CVA. They have avoided relegation this season, but with minus points, 7 players, CVA kicking in and reduced crowds, next season will be interesting. OldNick Posted 28 February, 2011 Share Posted 28 February, 2011 I can only see it continuing. More dodgy ownership deals, no fines, no points deductions, a few surprising new contracts in the summer, a truck load of loan signings, a couple of signings they mysteriously beat clubs with money to, and few questions asked. Will keep the thread healthy though. they live a charmed life and whilst many thought they would go down they have a decent first team. I doubt they will get to the play offs but winning 4 on the trot has made them climb the table. Their loans in have all been good, and perhaps we should take a leaf out of their book and get some in

Even if he's found guilty I wouldn't be surprised if the FL did the square root of bugger all with regards to a points deduction. You can hold the Luton etc. examples up but with Pompey there seems to be too many skeletons in too many closets. As for running the club on the parachute payments, if they have splurged all 3 years worth on running the club/wages I don't get why Chainrai hasn't put the parachute payments in his back pocket and chucked the carcass on the heap. I can see why he would stay to get his mitts on all the income, but the income seems to be going straight into the player's pay packets. I am puzzled as to why Chainrai is still bankrolling them. With that plan all but dead, I doubt he'll do anything more than keep them on life support until he has sucked every last penny possible out of the rotten corpse. And Cotterill's bleatings about a "paper thin" squad is unlikely to change his mind: that was obvious during the last window. Of course with 4 wins on the trot there is still a glimmer of hope for the few, but that will only make it more painful if they come close at the end of the season, close but no cigar (and if so, Chinny will be kicking himself for throwing in the towel too soon. )

We KNOW the PL advanced them 11m of that in JANUARY 2010. According to a UHY announcement back in November they had already spent 8m of next year's money. They must be well into the 2nd half of next year's money by now. Leaving the 2x8m payments for years 3 and 4, much of which will surely go to football creditors. Good innit!!! rallyboy Posted 2 March, 2011 Share Posted 2 March, 2011 they have some very winnable games coming up, I would suggest it's between them, Leeds and Leicester for the last play-off lottery ticket - let's see which squad runs out of legs and luck first. And the way we are going, perhaps we will have two exciting play-offs to suffer on the south coast, ours for promotion, there's for survival. Not sure I'm looking forward to our season being decided in one game at Old Trafford, or a two-legged affair against someone like Huddersfield....pivotal moment for our two seasons this month. Time for them to cheer us up with a missed payment, failed FaPPT, or a cotterill press statement about plucky little pompey, the highest paid XI in the division.
