benjii Posted 3 January, 2011 Share Posted 3 January, 2011 Am I being a bit naive here. Stoke let a player go on a free who then, overnight, turns into a £4m player. I know things are never black and white with Pompey but cant really see the Stoke Board/management being so gullible, unless there is a monster sell on clause added. Surely Stoke must have learned after paying an inflated price for Marc Wilson but then again so many unanswered questions in football He didn't go on a free he was part of the Wilson deal. DFCSBs "We had to complete the deal which was previously arranged but we couldn't complete in time during the last window" FIFA "But back then you were in administration and supposed to be fiscally prudent with reference to your commitments to your C.V.A." DFCSBs "What does 'fiscally prudent' mean?" Hahaha! Priceless!!

JackFrost Posted 3 January, 2011 Share Posted 3 January, 2011 Even with the squad size Cotterill has, considering the quality they have Cotterill is doing a poor job there. Unless they strengthen considerably in the January the inevitable fatigue from the players having to play so many games in the season will kick in and the'll be involved in a relegation scrap if their not careful. I don't think they'll go down but on current form, they have no chance for the play-offs, their so inconsistent.

Gemmel Posted 3 January, 2011 Share Posted 3 January, 2011 (edited) Just to echo some of the posts above, when a manager (verbaitm) says " He gave the refereee no option but to send him off", to appeal that decision seems a little curious...... If it wasn't pompey. This isn't curious it is just an extension to the cheating mentality that is now well and truly engrained within every fibre of the disgusting little club, whose greatest fans turned up in their 12,500 thousands. And it very nearly payed off until a very infrequent visitor to fratton park, "justice" turned up and left them looking stupid. It is now down to the FA to throw the book at them. Espeaciallly if Halford is sent back to Wolves (Remember it is only Mick Mcarthy who has said he can stay.... not Baloou) They continue to empitomise everything wrong with Football. rallyboy Posted 4 January, 2011 Share Posted 4 January, 2011 I do hope the few shouted 'scummer' at Mr Pearson as he pocketed the three points and waved goodbye to the rows of empty blue seats. It's fair to say that the 250,000 on Southsea common have gone awol. How's that future England boss Cotterill doing in the manager of the month award for January? With the cva likely to be £7-8M short by the end of the month plus the reduced matchday income and the likes of Lawrence's wages pushing the overheads through the roof, I see a new creditors meeting on the horizon, maybe to propose a new deal of approx 1p in the pound per year? - less expenses. Sorry we can't pay you anything we've given your money to another player, again. 2011 doesn't look great down that way at the moment - but it may just be a wobble so let's see if they can keep this run of form up for a month or two. For the only time this season, ahead of the weekend I would just like to say - 'Seagulls, seagulls, seagulls!' Though playing at the Withdean could be a big day out for their fans, a chance to see a modern stadium, proper facilities and a 1980s look rather than 1930s. Brighton could soon be in the same division in a new stadium, we had better be up there too - five mins ago pompey were in the Prem and the rest of us were desperately struggling to survive and in the third tier.....and though we haven't seen justice yet, the ship is currently sinking VERY fast. Chanrai must be worried. His gamble needs promotion - that would require more than two points from every fixture - so they can't really afford to lose another game!! Watch WHU and Spurs help them out (that is if Spurs have been paid their 1m for Bergovic) IMO HR and Spurs do not want to make any enemies at FP as he/they would want to keep them on board for certain appearances. Whitey Grandad Posted 4 January, 2011 Share Posted 4 January, 2011 Will the increase in VAT to 20% reduce their income, should they choose to pay it to HMRC? If they keep the ticket prices the same then they will receive a smaller proportion of every new ticket sale, as will every other club in the country. I reckon they'll try to get ahead by lumping the additional 2.5% on the ticket price and pocketing the increased revenue. Then they will be deferring paying it over to HMRC for as long as possible - possibly permanently as they need the cashflow to pay wages.
