Pompey Takeover Saga

Am I being a bit naive here.

Stoke let a player go on a free who then, overnight, turns into a £4m player.

I know things are never black and white with Pompey but cant really see the Stoke Board/management being so gullible, unless there is a monster sell on clause added.

Surely Stoke must have learned after paying an inflated price for Marc Wilson but then again so many unanswered questions in football

He didn't go on a free he was part of the Wilson deal.

Their argument with FIFA will be interesting.

DFCSBs "We have to sell him as we can't afford the wages"

FIFA "Why did you buy him then?"

DFCSBs "We had to complete the deal which was previously arranged but we couldn't complete in time during the last window"

FIFA "But back then you were in administration and supposed to be fiscally prudent with reference to your commitments to your C.V.A."

DFCSBs "What does 'fiscally prudent' mean?"

Hahaha! Priceless!!

Halford named in the squad,so i take it they are appealing his straight red card, therefore no automatic ban.

Skate News yesterday: Cotterill has backed Andy D'Urso's decision to send off Halford and it is unlikely there will be an appeal, prompting an automatic three-match ban.

Then, would you Adam and bloody Eve it, today he's in the squad because they are appealing it.

Nasty, dirty little club. Everything and every word that comes out of that sh1t-hole is corrupted

Even with the squad size Cotterill has, considering the quality they have Cotterill is doing a poor job there.

Unless they strengthen considerably in the January the inevitable fatigue from the players having to play so many games in the season will kick in and the'll be involved in a relegation scrap if their not careful. I don't think they'll go down but on current form, they have no chance for the play-offs, their so inconsistent.

every trick in the book.

What integrity Cotterill had went straight out of the window. I dont particularily like him, but I always felt he was a man of his word. Seeing that today makes me realise that he is no better than the lot of them.Good job they lost, he will be out of another league game now.

Just to echo some of the posts above, when a manager (verbaitm) says " He gave the refereee no option but to send him off", to appeal that decision seems a little curious...... If it wasn't pompey.

This isn't curious it is just an extension to the cheating mentality that is now well and truly engrained within every fibre of the disgusting little club, whose greatest fans turned up in their 12,500 thousands.

And it very nearly payed off until a very infrequent visitor to fratton park, "justice" turned up and left them looking stupid.

It is now down to the FA to throw the book at them. Espeaciallly if Halford is sent back to Wolves (Remember it is only Mick Mcarthy who has said he can stay.... not Baloou)

They continue to empitomise everything wrong with Football.

Have they finished paying Watford for Tommy Smith? I know they were still owed money, but can't remember if the PL payed them off at the start of the season?

Yep, except that back-fired by them being so useless that even Hull managed to beat them - and now he'll have to serve his ban. Extra game for a frivolous appeal maybe?

'Once we get the next four days out of the way, hopefully we can try to get a couple of loans and some players to supplement what we have lost.

'Hopefully we will be getting a few players to supplement us, whether it be permanent or two loans.

'I think there may be a little bit of money but I don't think the money available will make a significant difference.

'It may be loans could be a better or stronger option.

Ashdown

02 Halford

03 Dickinson

33 Rocha (Hreidarsson 25)

04 Mokoena

07 Lawrence

08 Mullins

17 Utaka (Sonko 90+2)

10 Nugent

18 Kitson

27 Kanu (Ward 77)

Seriously, for a team with no money to pay the cleaners and creditors everywhere you look, that side has to be totally unsustainable and an insult to every other side in the Championship trying to do things right. Pompey are a disgrace and an example of everything that is wrong with English football.

the `not good enough to fill a spot on the bench' Ritchie scored for Swindon. I don't ever want to hear a skates crying about having a small squad.

But they will. They will continue crying and whining like an airhead who's carpet has just been pulled out.

No love, you should have made your future sustainable... no use crying to the baliffs. The blue cancer must surely be meeting it's end soon.

I do hope the few shouted 'scummer' at Mr Pearson as he pocketed the three points and waved goodbye to the rows of empty blue seats.

It's fair to say that the 250,000 on Southsea common have gone awol.

How's that future England boss Cotterill doing in the manager of the month award for January?

With the cva likely to be £7-8M short by the end of the month plus the reduced matchday income and the likes of Lawrence's wages pushing the overheads through the roof, I see a new creditors meeting on the horizon, maybe to propose a new deal of approx 1p in the pound per year? - less expenses.

Sorry we can't pay you anything we've given your money to another player, again.

2011 doesn't look great down that way at the moment - but it may just be a wobble so let's see if they can keep this run of form up for a month or two.

For the only time this season, ahead of the weekend I would just like to say - 'Seagulls, seagulls, seagulls!'

Though playing at the Withdean could be a big day out for their fans, a chance to see a modern stadium, proper facilities and a 1980s look rather than 1930s.

Brighton could soon be in the same division in a new stadium, we had better be up there too - five mins ago pompey were in the Prem and the rest of us were desperately struggling to survive and in the third tier.....and though we haven't seen justice yet, the ship is currently sinking VERY fast.

Chanrai must be worried.

His gamble needs promotion - that would require more than two points from every fixture - so they can't really afford to lose another game!!

Cotterill seems to be ducking and diving to make space for a couple of other highly waged stars. Watch WHU and Spurs help them out (that is if Spurs have been paid their 1m for Bergovic) IMO HR and Spurs do not want to make any enemies at FP as he/they would want to keep them on board for certain appearances. Spurs are riding high and dont want past problems to derail them Edited by OldNick

Will the increase in VAT to 20% reduce their income, should they choose to pay it to HMRC? If they keep the ticket prices the same then they will receive a smaller proportion of every new ticket sale, as will every other club in the country.

I reckon they'll try to get ahead by lumping the additional 2.5% on the ticket price and pocketing the increased revenue. Then they will be deferring paying it over to HMRC for as long as possible - possibly permanently as they need the cashflow to pay wages.

Add another ****ed off party amounst those that have done business with the blue few.

Pretty much as i posted yesterday, the appeal didn't make any sense, unless he was going back...... So step up pompey, get one more game out of him and then send him back when he gets a four match ban. I do hope other clubs take note and alos hope that the FA make them pay his wages whilst he is banned.

Disgusting.

'But I think the manager wanted to have as strong a side as possible yesterday and an appeal was worthy.

Jeez, if that doesn't meet the criteria for "Frivolous" appeals I can't see how any ever will. From the horses (oops sorry) Donkey's mouth

Storrie's only crime was being a hero.

*****il investigations are completed)

If the city of Portsmouth doesn't recognise him I think Southampton fans salute his fine efforts, and should the Hayling Island extradition treaty ever get signed he would be welcomed at St Marys.

As a paying guest.

No cheques, cash in advance.

I'm surprised Ridsdale hasn't taken him down to Plymouth, imagine what those two could achieve together.....

That would be epic. Add a naive backhanding manager (Redkrapp) and it'll be the blockbuster British Sports Movie that hasn't been made yet.

It could be called 'Escape to HMS Victory' Maradona could play Pele's part, Riquelme could be Bobby Moores, and that Jap keeper they had could play Sylvester Stallones part.

What a sequel, they could have the plot that instead of trying to escape, they could be digging into prison to try and help HR Storrie and MM escape............ooooh I think AA and the PL plant may have already done that

frees up some wages to get another in. I wonder how Wolves view it? They play him so he gets another game ban, and then send him back so they pay his wages for an extra game. It is laughable, the bare cheek of them

They really disgust me with this latest episode.

Play Halford whilst under an appeal that even Cotterill new was a waste of time, lose the appeal which was a cert, then knowingly send him back to his parent club to serve the ban.

including the extra match ban he cant play in.

If i was wolves i would be fuming.

The Skates just **** on anyone that has any dealings with them.

Disgusting little club without morals,i hope the club dies a slow and agonising death.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1344092/Liam-Lawrence-foul-mouthed-attack-Portsmouth-owners-contract.html

what a joke of a club...................

They have offered to take massive pay cuts, not just 10 per cent or 20 per cent but 50 per cent cuts, but the club are not even speaking to them

If true that is interesting
