Pompey Takeover Saga

The greed of football disgusts me, you have small clubs struggling and going bust all over the place and the ONLY thing each club are bothered about is lining their own pockets.

The people to blame are the FA, PL and FL, all corrupt greedy self serving organisations. All they care about is Sky TV's cash.

At the moment we're not greatly effected because we have a rich backer but I would hate to see a league so distorted by money so it becomes a complete farce. Kill the romance in football and the game will quickly lose it's appeal.

Depends who you are trying to appeal to.

If it's the hordes of oriental scarfers who follow Manure, Chelsea and the other top four clubs who crave the mass television audiences to make themselves world brands, it won't make any difference.

Your average Malaysian, Chinese or Japanese Man Utd fan doesn't give a stuff about romance. All he wants to be is on the winning side, to see is ManUre win every times he switches on his tv, or when he comes over onces a year to take pictures at Old Trafford, and have a shirt he can pose around in to show people in KL, Yokohama or Guangdo his undying devotion to his team.

They're the people Scudamore is aiming at, which is why the PL have just signed lucrative far eastern tv deals.

I wonder what GM thinks of those "fans" then ?, I mean he really dislikes us Brits who live away from the UK :(

those "fans" probably do not even have British relatives :D

''they've been working hard getting everything together, a bid is on it's way''

if they had money, a bid would have already been put in. You don't muck around like this ''sorting things out'' if you have money.

i.e Markus.

Uh no.

AA will be setting up hoops to jump through. You can expect he will have given indications of the level of bid he wants.

You forget the two over riding factors here

1) To get the highest possible return for the creditors

2) The MOST important - he is earning about a zillion quid a day so every day he changes his tune he gets another nice night in his luxury hotel with Dom Perignon for Dinner not to mention enough to buy a nice new car.

The speed of the deal with Markus was down to the fact that Frt had rolled all the tyres he could find in front of the only bidders he had and suddenly realised he wouldn't get his fees with the wages due at the end of the month, otherwise he'd have strung it out for another week or so at least.

What was the weekly figure quoted for AA and his team? 50 grand?

Hell show me ANYONE on here who wouldn't keep that gravy train stringing along

I spoke about this to a psychoanalyst I am aquainted with. He spoke of 'deep rooted personal issues' and of the person 'not being at one with themself'.

Could that be true?

Grant said 'We have played some very good football all season. A lot of teams in the Premier League do not play as well as we do.

'We have shown we're a good team on the pitch playing football.

'The fans have been magnificent this season and once again they were fantastic for us'

As Kamara would say, 'unbelievable Jeff!'

Okay so remove the 9 point penalty and you'd be a point ahead of Burnley & ahead of Hull on goal difference - so you're a great team and that's despite all of the cheating going on.

Another 'unbelievable Jeff!'

Oh dear...

It's Pinnacle all over again.....the same drip-drip of useless information, the same "just wait a biiiiiit longer" all we need now is the weekly "it's going to happen on Friday" posts....

A quick look over that site and you realise what a deluded bunch of morons they are. It's full of comments like "I hope we keep hold of David James next year".

The thick ****s just don't get it, in a few months time they will be one of the smaller Championship clubs, their parachutes will already be handed out to creditors and they will probably be on -17 points. S****horpe will be a more attractive club to play for then them.

I can't wait for next season to start, watching reality kick in on them ****s will be priceless.

I think that Blueshark (3rd post down) has a feel for the situation. He must obviously lurk on here!

Didn't they also similarly eulogise 'Arry and StorrieTeller? You really would think that they would have learned by now......

You know, there are some times when I feel sympathy for the blue few and what they are going through then I B0ll0x, F ck 'em!

Very true.... and the thing that Scudamore does not seem to realise is that there is little fan loyalty in the Far East. An English football fan is much more likely to change their spouse than their football team - not so in the Far East. I was talking to a Hong Kong colleague who told me that he supported Arsenal. He drank out of an Arsenal mug and had an Arsenal poster on his office wall. He couldn't remember much about the 2003 Cup Final however because in those days he supported Liverpool!!

Once you enter the fashion market that the PL has joined, you need to talk in terms of brands - not normal for an English football fan. If your Nokia phone doesn't look as good as a Motorola one, you forget Nokia and buy Motorola. If your football team loses a couple of matches you choose another one. I bet the number of Liverpool shirts being sold in the Far East is lower than usual at the moment.

I bet that the fat g*t who I saw in Hong Kong wearing a Pompey shirt with Campbell's name on the back is now supporting someone else!!

I also remember seeing a Wimbledon shirt in Hong Kong a few years ago, when they were third in first division and in semi final of the cup.

I think most people had doubts after ten seconds.

Looks like he might have to turn to Chanrai as the best option for the club after all.

No doubt he'll be the only one willing to try and save it for the fans etc, how fortunate, AA will continue to chase away any other parties with a dirty stick.

The next part of this oh so predictable soap will be the sad and reluctant exit of tearful Avram, if only he'd been given some assurances he could have stayed, (cue squealing tyres and tail lights heading up the Eastern Road at 120mph)

Great fans, fantastic club, sleeping giant, deserve success etc, it'll be another Harry script.

Despite all these amazing positives about the place, funny how all of them still bugger off....

And I didn't begrudge Paul Hart yesterday, he's had a ridiculous season and a last day relegation would have been a bit harsh on the bloke, especially as he's still owed money by at least one club and his current employer runs out of cash today.

He's had enough misery.

Fair play to Paul Hart but I have had nowhere near enough of the Skate's misery.

"Please sir, can I have some more?"

Interesting fact. My son went to Frankfurt Zoo today.

Apparently there are only around 25,000 Orangutans left on the Planet Earth.

Unfortunately they won't get full WWF protected status as in a recent survey they discovered a species in more danger, with only 23,000 Skate fans left in Farton

Phil I get the jist but FP only holds 20k fans and that includes 2000 away fans, therefore the situation is dire. The WWF also have said that the Skates have the other major problem that they shed their skin and replace it with Man u or Chelsea shirts according to who wins the league.

The WWF have asked people to phone in if you see a Pompey fan as they are hoping to recoerd them, they will have 1 phone operator manning the phone waiting for the odd phonecall. The idea of tagging was dropped as it would have given an incorrect figure as the survey was in Portsmouth and would be confusing with the general population

Was in Gunwharf today at the Nike/Addidas outlet looking for some boots for my lad.....they had the FA Cup on show and you could have your picture taken.

The compere was asking which teams you supported....in the queue there were Man Utd, Chelsea, 3 Saints and 2 Pompey....... ;-)

The chap who was guarding the cup was really interesting and gave us some history this is the 4th trophy since the 1800's.

As soon as we said Southampton was our teaam he said Bobby Stokes 1976 Saints won the cup.

I know I said I was there!!

The Patrick Barclay article refers to Jones as being unaware that he would run shoulders with the likes of Crouch in the Premier League. He doesn't realise that Jones had been in the same Premiership side as Crouch at Saints.

Fairly sure they wouldn't of played together during Crouch's time here.

Crouch and Jones both played in the FA cup game against the skates, also the Premiership game at St Andrews. Jones played at right midfield and was terrible. I think he also came on right at the end of the Prem game at SMS against Liverpool.
