Yep............... the **** with the bell

It is the same bloke. He is not that popular at pompey according to my pompey mates.

Have to say the Skates were unlucky to lose that. But wil counter that with the fact that Everton were pretty appalling and still won. I could still see Pompey staying up though as there are some terrible sides in the Greatest League in the World.

They'll be ok! They're so jammy and like someone said, there are so so many rubbish teams in that league!!

There were several worse teams than us when we got relegated.

They have got 0 points from home games against Fulham, Bolton and Everton.

That is very poor.

They haven't played any of the top 3 yet, home or away. They aren't that awful but they will run out of time pretty quickly.

If Wolves beat them next week they are 90% likely to go down IMO.

Paul Merson seems to think that they are relegated already:

"Lose this and it's seven games without a win - and they've still got to play Manchester United twice, Chelsea twice and Liverpool twice. If they're lucky they'll get two points from those six games.

That means they'll need something like 1.5 points per game from the other 25 games to stay up - and that's European form. Honestly, they are in severe trouble if they lose this one."

"Let's be honest - I knew the standard of football was going to be dramatically different from the Premier League.

"And as for the trip to Morecambe¿ the facilities at Morecambe, they weren't actually that bad. I've seen worse.

"Remember, I used to be at Portsmouth - have you seen Fratton Park? Have you been to the training ground?

From a Sol Campbell interview.lol.

I find it hard to believe Paul Merson worked that out for himself! :D

I wonder if the Pompey scum are reading this thread. I do hope so.

To think we're on -1 points in the third division and still have the upper hand and are laughing our heads off at the pikeys expense.

Sanjay Al Fayed (or whatever his name is) is a officially a Saints legend.

"His position is untenable and his continued presence at our football club is not wanted and will not be tolerated anymore."

"He may not want to lose face but I have heard that several attending tomorrow will be carrying banners which will probably be shown on SKY in the UAE. He ain't gonna like that! "You are an embarassment to your royal family" might go down well!"

Oooooh, the pikeys are revolting.

It is amazing, the man who was part of the architect of their problems and they worship him!!!!!!!!!

100% agree, I posted this on the main board thread:

Storrie admits he was close to resigning last week.

But he has decided to stay on after the Fratton Park fans chanted his name during Saturday's 1-0 defeat by Everton.

He added: "It has been hard and frustrating.

"But when the crowd sings your name, it makes you think 'Blimey, that doesn't happen to many chief executives'.

"It made me feel quite humble."

Or to put it another way:

"It wasn't hard and frustrating signing off the inflated wages of the past few years without raising concerns as CEO to the future viability of the club, but now we are in the s*** it was really nothing to do with me you know. But when the crowd sings your name it does make you think how naive they really are and besides who else is going to pay a chancer like me nearly £1.5 million a year. It made me feel like buying a big boat at Hamble"

Not quite Nick Nack, there are plenty on the Pompey boards who question his part in our debts. They're maybe not as vocal as some, that's all. But the point is, Gaydamak was the one who held the purse strings. No point blaming Redknapp (as many Pompey fans do, wait until the next home game and Harry's return to his spiritual home for evidence of that) and whilst Storrie was Chief Exec, all he could do was ask Gaydamak if he would stump up the cash. If Gaydamak said "no problem" what was he supposed to do? The blame lies with Gaydamak. Storries a chancer, no doubt about it but he has done a brilliant job (along with our finance director) of keeping us afloat when many clubs would have folded.

They make little mention of double agent Redknapp and his part in their demise.

See above ESB and wait for Harry's trip back to Fratton in a couple of weeks.

"besides who else is going to pay a chancer like me nearly £1.5 million a year."

People often quote Storrie as being on a salary of £1.5m a year. His salary is way below that (around £500K I believe) but the £1.5m was one particular year (when we won the cup and qualified for Europe) and was made up in large part of bonuses for that success (cue Nick Nack "You bought your success, you bought your succcess"). As I've said before, Storrie may be paid more than a lot of Prem CEO's but he does a lot more than most of them.

Anyway, join me in a quick chorus of the Fratton End's new favourite song:

"We'll win again, don't know where, don't know when, but I know we'll win again some sunny day" :(

The way things are going it won`t be a sunny day. You don`t get too many of them in January and February!!:)

(

It is no use using Gaydamek as the fall guy.The CEO is in charge of running things and he should have pointed out ANY misgivings and the reckless spending. Of course you are lapping up PS as he has told you that he has the Al Faraj brothers lined up, you wouldnt want ot upset him and him walk with them.

One thing about that, I would suspect every club around would have seen their name linked and I expect they have a queue trying to wooo them away to other clubs.

As for the song I didnt hear it, i assume it works as a duo as both of you on the Fratton had to join in surely

hmmmm... I wonder why Storrie didn't put a stop to the mad, unsustainable spending.

Strange indeed, however, they probably want him to sit tight as he has that consortium in the background for when "in principle" amounts to nothing

Tend to agree with this - I think there are yet more twist's and turn's to negotiate before this whole sorry mess is sorted out.

As I type, SSN is reporting that the good Dr will inject 50 million in 3 - 4 weeks time. Surely if you are going to invest that amount of money you know when it will be available!

Personally I think that the sooner the good Dr is consigned to the scrap heap the better, but I still think that there is something 'not quite right' here. Why on earth would somebody with no funds buy a trainset that needs constant stoking with millions of pounds - it just doesn't add up.

Let's just hope, for the Blue Few's sake that either the good Dr has a major 'Master Plan' (Blueprint for Success, anybody...?) or that PS's consortium remains in the background and interested should (when) it all goes t i t s u p...!

Interesting to hear Arsene Wengers comments tonight on SSN with regards to buying players in relation to Clubs finances and contributing to helping the club remain profitable. Harry Redknapp and Peter Storrie surely too would have both known what the financial limits of Pompey were but still chose to ignore them when buying players and paying wages beyond their means and can't be blameless for the situation Pompey now find themselves in.

This thread make me laugh out loud....even a bloke who has been unemployed for the last year & a half can be choosey when it comes to a job with the Skates :D

No it is not a case of him turning them down, it is a case that on working out out the transfer fee for David Villa and Riquelme they couldnt afford to pay McCallister as well.

They have to be prudent afterall, they wouldnt like to be seen as reckless in the transfer market buying success.

Wigan of the South are starting to look more like Acrington Stanley of the South at present.

Been on the cards for ages.

Even if they somehow manage to scrape the money together to pay the players today, what is going to happen next month?

On a cash flow basis I expect most clubs will operate with a net cash outflow month to month with the large injections of Premier league cash in August and January to give them adequate headroom to see them through the other months.

If they can't pay players the first month after they receive the premier league money how on earth are they going to make it to January?

Also if you were the company/individual who had agreed "in principle" to give the good Doctor £50m in 3-4 weeks, would you still be comfortable doing so knowing just how precarious the financial situation is?

Or is the £50m only due in 3-4 weeks so that the Doctor can claim, after everything falls over, that he had worked his little socks off to find funding and it is somebody else's fault for not giving him just 1 more week to get the cash in.

I posted this on the main board, but i'll post it here too...

Surley administration, or even insolvency is only around the corner now?

What they have done is exactly what these points deductions have come into stop.

Clubs spending above their means and still carrying on without further punishment.

The FL set a precedent with Luton, now it's time for the FA and PL to set the standard at Portsmouth. I'm not saying similar points deductions etc - but they need to be punished for quite honestly, paying above their means for a year.

This 50m is another load of woffle too apparently, as Dr Who is struggling to bring it in. According to their fans metting, the dr told the fans it would be within this week (which was last week).

Anyway - that would only be a loan, with monthly repayments. Not exactly the way to go is it?

Screwed, quite honestly. They could be heading to a worse place than we did, complete oblivion.
