Pompey Takeover Saga

Fitzhugh Fella

Yes, really interesting. A 680 mile round trip (approx), one on a week day where any supporters travelling would have to, potentially, take 2 days off work as against a Saturday where most people have the day off.

No comparision really.

well how about comparing them to us at Carslisle and you at villa saturday

I've never claimed to be ITK but I do know someone high up at Pompey who we see socially every couple of weeks or so. I don't get told everything but I do get various pieces of info dropped. .
well how about the update on s/t sales. Your mate at the club had told you that they were at 12500 and would make in excess of the season befores 13500 to perhaps 16k. Now my contact had it at below 10k who was closest?

I fully understand why the figures have fallen but it would be great if you actually stopped all the flannel and gave it as it is.No shame in being honest you know.

1. Another attendance thread - yay. FYI, I've posted a link to a website showing Pompey's average attendances and you can see that for the past three years we've averaged 96 - 97% sell out of capacity. Is that your "proof" that we don't fill the stadium?

I wonder what the percentage will be towards the end of your relegation season (09/10) and your future in the Championship?

Crabby, you used to be quite a decent poster to banter with but these days you seem to have turned into a complete ****.

Can we not bother debating this point any more and leave this link as a sticky for anyone who wants to start another such "argument"

Ouchy Corpy, I'm still the same Crabby y'know - maybe it's you that has changed? After all, there are only so many bull**** lies you can relay to us before you're stock falls? ;)

Anyway, it's not the percentage of how much you're ground is full, that's completely irrelevant - and YOU KNOW THAT - it's how many fans you have got and potentially attract. We are getting higher crowds in League 1 whilst you lot can't even give the tickets away and still come in way short.

That should tell you something, Corpy...

Great reading, Storrie to resign as he can't take any more of the circus....

Did anyone else s****** at how ironic that the banner advert was 'bills stacking up' etc etc

The fans seem a decent lot though, that care. If they werent such d#### when we play them Id really be sorry for them

Fantastic! An opportunity to spend 50 million of your hard earned £'s to get the club something that 9 out of 10 other clubs already have.

I would hate to see the downside in owning pompey.

They clearly don't need a new stadium anyway when they cant fill that dustbin they play in now. wait til they are getting 10 k in the championship next season , mustaphaskateonmydick will wonder why he bothered with them .

Have Loved this quote from Robbos Blog on the BBC talking about Sol Cambell.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/robborobson/2009/09/time_for_some_sol_searching_ca.html

"Blimey. Hard work? Five-year contract = 1 game? I'm hoping the lad will come out and tell us exactly what Notts County don't have that, I dunno, Portsmouth do. (Nothing as far as I can tell, in fact County can actually buy good players if they want to)."

Hugely possible.

None of the debt was wiped out, it was just transferred to SAF.

Apparently, according to a few Skates, Storrie stopped the club from going into admin by clubs doing him personal favors (chelsea agreed to postpone their sell-on-fee that was due for Glen Johnson, until Portsmouth sort themselves out)

If storrie leaves, then it's very possible that these chairman will come back and knock on SAF's door very very loudly...

Everyone keeps saying that, but i really don't think has has..well not enough to make a difference. He's always been a ''front'' - he had backers but they walked away.

I'm not sure how he managed to complete the takeover if im honest, although he hasn't completed any fit and proper stuff has he?

We'll see - it's fishy anyway.

“I am proud to be the new owner of Portsmouth FC and I am committed to taking this club forward. I will invest prudently in players and infrastructure and I will ensure that Portsmouth FC remains loyal to its values, in particular through its engagement with the local community.”

Ha Ha Ha.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/sep/23/portsmouth-sulaiman-al-fahim-transfer-window

"We're not in a hurry to sign stars and we're not going to go into the transfer market at the moment. We'll probably start signing next summer when we have the necessary liquidity to do so. It depends on how the business side of things evolves between now and then but that would be the logical stage [to do so]."

"My model of a club is Arsenal."

Oh dear - what a shame.:D

HILARIOUS!!!

Just got out from the meeting. In quick summary, not a great deal of new stuff other than £50M will be with us in 3 to 4 weeks.

Present for us: RubiconCSL and Mr Nuts

Present for PFC: Peter Storrie, Lucius Beart plus other directors and Johnny Moore.

SAF arrived a bit late and the meeting started around 7:45.

SAF first read out a statement.

Apologised for the initial cancellation of the meeting.

quotes about administration are incorrect, misleading and damaging to the club.

Also have made it more difficult to secure finance.

He has secured £50M which will arrive in the next 3 to 4 weeks.

Finances at the club will be fully stabalised in the next four weeks - creditors paid off.

He is committed to take us forward.

He will invest in players.

We must increase revenue coming in - more seats, academy, developing the land we have around the stadium (hotels).

We then moved on to questions and answers; most of which I have captured here.

The £50M has been obtained via loans with international institutions, which will be injected into the club as a directors loan. In one way I guess, this is robbing peter to pay paul, but as I see it, this is then his loan, not the clubs. If the loans get called in, then they are after him, not the club. That is positive as no owner so far while PS has been here has done that.

PVA: "Keep PS at PFC"

SAF: PS is the biggest asset PFC has; don;t want to lose him.

PVA:Why wasn't the loan sorted out BEFORE you bought the club, so we could buy players last simmer?

SAF: Cannot get finaince until after Due Diligence, no-one will lend before that has finished.

SAF then made a comment that he doesn't always want 100% of the club - which was sort of mentioned again a few times later. He wants other investors inthe club, but doesn't have any yet.

PVA: what about the 48 page document?

SAF: he ditthered a bit really on this . Something about it being published when its ready and something about someone having exclusive rights to it or something like that.

PVA (our very own Mr Nuts): Are we seting ourselves up ready for the Championship?

SAF: no-one at the club wants championship football.

PH needs time to get the team to settle and gel. Support him, don't give him a hard time.

"No plans to remove PH in the next few games" - read in to that what you will

PVA: Are ALL ownership papers with the Premier League?

PS: Yes and have been for some time now.

PVA: How much time have you spent with PFC employees so you can get to know how things work over here?

SAF: I have spent time....blah, blah..... I didn't really understand what he gabbled on about then, sorry.

SAF made another mention here about wanting other investors.

PVA: What's all this about a 40k seater eco-stadium?

I really wasn't sure where the conversation went here. He did re-iterate later that he is interested in an eco/green stadium. There are a lot of possible government grants of you do apparently and he has lots of experience with his property business in building green buildings.

PVA: Can the Al Faraj brothers still join in?

SAF: Have met one of them before the buy out. The board wanted them involved. They were emailed "you are welcome to come and invest in the club". SAF has no objection.

No idea what happened next though i.e. why they hadn't then joined in the party?

PVA:When will Sasha be out of the frame?

SAF/PS: Sasha still involved due to loans. When they are paid off (with the £50M) he will be totally out of the picture - should be November, although they can leave it until January (legally I think that meant)

PVA: When will the training ground start?

SAF: When the £50M arrives and the debts are paid off, the board will decide where the rest of the money goes - could be players, ground or training ground.

PVA: How far will the £50M get us before we need more?

SAF: ??? maybe 1yr. Need more investers.

PVA: You said you want UAE players to join the club?

SAF: I would love to see my fellow countrymen playing in the prem, whether at PFC or other clubs. However, that cannot happen, as they are not in the top 70 FIFA ranked countires.

PVA: when is the earliest we will see a larger capacity ground - wherever it is.

SAF: Cannot answer now. I want another meeting in early November where he will be able to answer more questions.

SAF: Finally a question for you. May I come to the game tomorrow?

PVA: Yes, but stay in the directors box and wear a suit!

SAF: The reason I wore the shirt is because in my country it is a mark of respect to the team to wear the kit.

PVA: Over here it just looks cheap!

SAF:Okay, I'll wear a suit

Meeting closed.

SAF then mingled with various groups.

I'll post again when I get home or in the morning. Mr Nuts will also add his comments.

Overall, not much new I guess, but at least he met us and seemed ok - if perhaps a little naive with some things e.g. the English press.

PUP!!

when it was all over he walked over to me and put his hand on my shoulder in a very 'i am the boss' way and said 'so council businessman, what business advice would you give me to run this club'. I said something along the lines of i expected you to come in with £200m behind you, invest in the tg and stadium and fund the playing side to keep us in the prem. It would be a 10 year investment and take 5 years to complete this and from years 5 - 10 you would start to see the revenue from the tg and stadium and you would eventually make your money back in 10 years. Guess what - he was a bit taken aback and said, you are right! He then went on to say it will cost more than £200m but he is here until 2020 as that will be when he will make his money back. He then went on to say that the stadium would be financed via a special purchase vehicle and owned by this spv. I guess he was saying that being an eco stadium it would be elgible for grants and would be owned by a country interested in energy. He said that for a period of time the football club would rent the use of the stadium from the spv until a point in time when the ownership would transfer to the club once the spv had made its money. Personally this shows me he isn't naive as this is a sound business plan and a good way of funding the stadium separately to the club. I assume that the spv would build the entire horsea development.

okay he is officially crazy

He then went on to tell me that he could retire on his income now (I think that is what he said) but he is also interested in helping communities and he like Pompey and would like to move here to retire. He met some kids when he first came here who he keeps in contact with via email. He also likes the idea that we help the community with education. He seemed genuine. He liked Pompey because it was a nicer climate and he likes the sea etc.

this is quite possibly the funniest **** I've ever had to laugh at from that lot down the road, it's brilliant, like a comedy.

we're two divisions below and we're averaging more at home than them

we're two divisions below and we're probably averaging more away than them

we started on minus 10, we're still on minus 2 and yet i am still laughing at them

We've got a billionaire owner who will see that us through our ascendency and they've got a camel salesmen who doesn't know his arse from his elbow.

Can't wait for when they go into admin and dear ol' 'Arry starts the 'cor blimey guv, nothing to do with me!' spin in tabloids.

Gonna be a rootin' tootin' season folks :D

See you soon, fishboys :D
