Pompey Takeover Saga

Fitzhugh Fella

Recommended Posts

Apparently, even if Pompey qualify for the Europa League through the FA Cup, they won't be able to play in it as they didn't apply for a UEFA club licence in time

really? That's classic. Have you a link to a news item so I can forward this to a few skates?

Storries case isn't until 2011. Which if it all works out the right way ....mean 3 consecutive seasons of points deductions :D

The last date i have seen is April 15 this year - from the last time he was in court

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/hampshire/8469860.stm

"He spoke only to confirm his name and the case was adjourned until 15 April when he is due to enter a plea.

Mr Storrie, of St Helen's Road, Hayling Island, Hampshire, was given unconditional bail."

These minimum requirements include youth football development, coaching standards, stadium and training facilities, audited accounts, settlement of debts and additional financial disclosures.

Do they get a prize for failing on all of them??

I think i read somewhere on here that the PL give clubs 2m towards youth development, I wonder if that money is still there to be used for that purpose Lol

The reason it's strange is that they should have already provided a copy of the loan instrument to Companies House, within 21 days of the charge(s) being registered. If not, the charge(s) is/are invalid. i.e. Marc Jacobs should have deposited the loan instrument at Companies House by the end of January...

If he hadn't sent the document creating the charge in (ie the debenture) Companies House would not have registered the charge. It's a nailed on certainty that something was sent in and appeared prima facie to create a valid charge. What you are not required to do, however, is to deposit evidence of the flow of any money.

Which one don't they fail on then?

Well unless UEFA have changed stadium and training requirements since 2008/09 when Pompey used Fratton Park and Wellington training ground for their UEFA Cup run.

There are worse grounds than Fratton Park in this seasons European competitions. Just look at the size of some of the clubs in the 1st qualifying rounds!

They might have different requirements for different rounds, in the 1st qualifying rounds you get pub teams from Andorra and Luxembourg who literally play on recreation grounds. If one of their teams got far in the competition and drew a fairly big side they'd probably have to switch to a bigger stadium nearby? Different competition I know but when England have played Andorra away recently they've had to move from Andorra's usual place to a Spanish stadium due to England's large fanbase.

As for Pompey, they played AC Milan at Fratton Park so can't see their stadium being a problem for European competition.

I may be completely wrong

That would be a money issue. Bigger stadium = more ticket allocation to the English = more cash for the Andorran FA

I don't think this article from today's Guardian has been linked on here:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/mar/08/portsmouth-fa-cup-prize-money

It talks about all their prize money / parachute payments / Sky money being withheld.

So £600,000 being held by the FA, don't suppose we have had our ticket money yet off Pompey, or have we just conviently given up on it as a gesture to our neighbours!

Can't believe we've just written off £120,000?

Meanwhile, Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie, 57, appeared at Southwark Crown Court in London yesterday in connection with allegations that he cheated the taxman over the signing-on fee for midfielder Amdy Faye, when he moved from Auxerre to Portsmouth, between July 1, 2003 and November 28, 2007.

The case was adjourned to April 15 but Judge Peter Testar also set a trial date for more than a year’s time: May 16, 2011. Storrie, who denies the charge, remains on unconditional bail

No we owe them money, as they were entitled to 40% ? of the match revenue

Link to comment

True, but isn't all revenue channelled via the FA?

Probably but they owe us nothing, our take would have been more. If you are saying they may have spent the ticket money they received and it has not gone to the fa for distribution then that may be the case.

You are the Chairman of Southampton Football Club. You receive a desperate phone call from your counterpart at Portsmouth City Football Club, who explains that unless they receive the match revenue from the recent FA tie at St. Marys, the famous club, founded over 112 years ago, will be wound up and cease to exist, next Monday, at the High Court, live on Radio 5. You had earmarked the money for new carpets in the board room and the reupholstery of the executive seats.

Should you:

  1. Take a day off and listen to the winding up of Portsmouth, live on e Radio 5, or...
  2. Go to training ground, watch the guys kick a ball around, write up your programme notes after lunch and listen to the programme on iPlayer, over a glass of chilled Chardonney, that evening?

just think, every enquiry they would have to check just in case and as they probably are charging an hourly rate, ti would eat into the fees alloted. I wouldnt of course but Im sure some will, and many have the know-how to string it along for quite a few days. I do not condone it by the way. Pes' mate might try, he certainly put up a good case with us.

Perhaps he could put forward Vince Hilaire as the Chairman of the syndicate.

Thanks for that.

I will add May 16 2011 to my list of dates.

So you are right the probable charges against the Club will follow that date (if they still exist), and not this summer as I expected.

I hope they are making the 12 interested parties aware of this.

I have to say, it's a great advert. They look even more appealing to the unsuspecting buyer with all those 'undisclosed' comments.

Agree. Also by advertising in the FT they are trying to tap into the 'serious' market who obviously will be unaware of any unfair and adverse comment about PFC in the downkmarket media like all the broadsheets, tabloids, radio and tv.

I think that this is a valued point nick. Either the FT has made a mistake, or the Admin man has.

FWIW, the matie who bought PFC as a joke, and is now inundated with creditors wanting their money, will be relieved that the nice man at PCFC, is trying to sell his club for him;)

That's what i thought. It shows that even the change over of name led to confusion and enabled a lot of debt to be left bhind it seems

Is it me or is 10 days to declare an expression onf interest a very small window? -Could be the norm or a meaningless date if potential buyers come in after - does anybody know

IMO they need someone to ante up enough dough to pay the players wages, in return for some sort of exclusivity deal. Therefore, related to payday, I reckon...
