A pity that Corp is no longer with us. (Perhaps his new job doesn't allow him to read the internet). He could tell us why Maradona turned the job down and they went for Cooky.

He'll fit in well, thinking once is more than enough to put most sensible people off.

Do not disrespect that table cloth, Tracy Emmin has given her time ,free of charge , to recreate her lovers named on a tent. She is to write all the people , businesses , and charities Pompey have F##### on it. The only difference being, that she will have to use both sides of the material not just one side

15 AND 17,000?! Impressive stuff.

I think he's talking about the occasional 17000 at home, and their average away following of about 15.

The base structure for Tesco is half done. It's massive, and once finished, you'll barely be able to see Fratton Park from the road when driving/walking past.

Drove past it today. It's dwarfed little Fratton Park and completely boxed it in. Short term thinking at it's finest. Hilarious.

I am concerned that nobody has commented on the sudden plummet of our moral standards as a club.

How can any Saints fan not have noted all the references to "Having a Massage, going to get a massage and worst having a Chinese Takeaway" in our latest News article.

Why, anyone would think there were insinuations in the direction of Hortons Heath?

Actually, the standard of script writing was so sublime, the finger on the pulse of the club, it is now clear that only one person on the planet could have written that P1ss release.

Nice work Rallyboy, now we know your day job

Understand that Portsea Island sits on seven flood zones and there is a tender out at the moment to shore up the embankment around one of the two main routes into the city (Eastern Approaches I think) to prevent future flooding

There are also issues around the Western Approach (by Harry Pounds old scrapyard) as the Navy has regularly dumped loads of rubbish, including asbestos, paint, mercury and loads of other nasties and there is a plan to dump aggregate and soil to effectively bury the crap.

I spoke to someone who's company had been approached to tender for part of the job.

He said they weren't interested and would prefer to let Portsea Island sink!!

And I am pretty sure he is not a Saints fan!!!!

"New manager Paul Cook expects Jed Wallace to leave the club."

Not a great start, you'd imagine...

Hmmm...if the fee they get runs into four figures it could signal a whole new rebuilding programme...team and stadium.

There's your compensation money.

Should just about cover Cook and Awford, so they'll have to keep Waddock and the rest of his minions.

£19.99 isn't going to get them much even in league 2...

I'd like to oversee us winning promotion at all costs, and then step down before the accounts are released.

Probably many a true word said in jest Rallyboy.

"This is one last hurrah now. Paddy Ashdown said if it doesn't work I'll eat my hat. I'm a seven and a half so it'll be a big hat but I will eat it if this guy doesn't get us out of this league."

Sh!T or bust. Again :D

He didn't put a timeframe on promotion. Only put pressure on the Manager to do it at some point in his tenure.

If he has to do it in his tenure, does that mean by November? Tough ask...!

For those of you who weren't there, you'll be pleased to know that former hero/greedy villain David James got a special halftime welcome from the Northam/Kingsland corner where he was working for TV.

The abuse was merciless, it's the first time I've seen a pundit helped away by security.

They've started as favourites at the start of every season in the bargain basement. And every season they have reliably delivered more schadenfreude and more outright hilarity than we have any right to expect. Gor' bless 'em!

We we're wrong. It's not other team's cup final, it's a day out at the Fortress of Fat.

It would be an absolute disaster for them NOT to get promoted next season. This is it, all lined up for them, the manager from above the chicken bones have fallen for them....

be funny as fuk if they blow it

WTF!!!!!!!

I can see his point in a way; if you're some not so good player coming from Doncaster or Chesterfield where you can probably get a semi-detached for £150k , it would make you think twice before moving to Portsmouth. Let's face it, they'll already have thought twice about moving to Portsmouth (will they pay me, why haven't they got a training ground, the ground's a bigger dump than Doncaster etc.)

‘You have to be careful in football, geographically with Portsmouth you are required to pay more for the standard of living than other people."

WTF!!!!!!!

I'm guessing the average house price in Portsmouth is significantly higher than that in Chesterfield, for example. I think his point is that while their wage bill is ****ing massive, they have to pay more because the players would have to pay more to live in the area. While that may be true, is that really the difference between a £1.5m wage bill and a £3.8m one? I'm not convinced.

Essentially, Pompey's wage bill is massive because they have made a correlation between paying big wages and getting good players. While that largely rings true in the top flight (put the PL clubs in order of wage bill and, barring a few obvious examples, that's generally the order they finish in), it becomes less true the further down the pyramid you go. There are loads of clubs who manage to squeeze out more than the sum of the team's parts in Leagues One and Two - just look at Wycombe, stayed in the Football League on goal difference last season, going to Wembley for the playoff final this season having spent very little.

Older players looking for a last big payday skew things, they're generally not as motivated or as fit as they once were, and there are certain clubs in each division of the FL who everybody knows they'll get an extra wedge of money from (Nottingham Forest in the Championship, Bristol City in League One - assuming Wigan will take that one on next season - Pompey in League Two) so those clubs get lumbered with a whole host of overpaid mercenaries who couldn't give a ****. It worked for Bristol City this season, most clubs don't get that reward at the end of it.

A big clear out is the most sensible thing they've done in ages.

Our only hope now is that their recruitment policy will be as bonkers as usual - and tied in to the annual free holiday that mysteriously doesn't cost anyone anything.

Solent reported that they had also sacked the Recruitment Manager. Wasn't he the great acquisition last summer? Did a great job, as far as I can see.
