Pompey Takeover Saga

It's the hope that kills them. Little by little.

Yep. No problem with them winning today. Keeps them in the sweet spot of utter mediocrity in the bottom division. A genuine fight/great escape from relegation could give their fans a(nother) badge of honour and another chapter in their mythology, seeing it as some kind of victory for "real" football, and an "I was there" day for the (s)crapbook.

Bimbling around nowhere near anything at 15/16/17th ish is 100% solid tin irrelevance. Just total nothingness. Well done today lads. 1-0 eh.

A plucky, 91st minute winner. Probably the bestest 91st minute winner of all time no doubt. From the super Jed Wallace, the saviour and upcoming STAR rated at millions by the bestest.

Good result today seeing as Exeter were in their cup final with 10,000 of the most passionate fans (who never boo) roaring Pompey to victory. And awful Andy stays in his job for another week. Glorious stuff.

"Premiership & you f***** it up," sing the #DagRed fans at #Pompey. A chant then repeated with Championship, League One & League Two.

Now that's good.

Newport County fans sang it at them in December 2013, I know because I took a video of it.

Fan-funder match report

"On a day that traditionally celebrates relationships, there could be no sight more fitting than a late Jed Wallace strike as Portsmouth dismissed visitors Exeter City by a goal to nil."

Indeed, what could be more fitting. Chocolates? Roses? A romantic dinner? Nah... an hour and a half at the cesspit watching abysmal football in the freezing gloom with a pie at half time. :mcinnes:

Unfortunately the only one I uploaded was Newport fans singing "Oh when the 'Port go steaming in" with the wife singing "Oh when the Saints" over the top of it. 8) The "3 divisions of feck up" song is on my NAS at home, and I can't get at it from here.

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/storrie-pompey-record-stands-up-to-scrutiny-1-6585465

Storrie said his record at Fratton Park ‘stood up to scrutiny’.

‘At Pompey I went in with Milan Mandaric, and ran a tight budget and we were profitable in the Premier League,’ he said.

‘My long-term record stands up to scrutiny I think.

‘The last couple of years we had problems, because decisions were made to bring in expensive players – decisions fully supported by Sacha.

‘We sustained heavy losses, but he supported that.

‘The situation changed when there was a financial crisis for him, and he couldn’t support it any more.

‘I had the ability to sell players to recoup the money but, sadly, the banks took all that back against the loans.

‘If that had come back into the club, we could have reduced the debt, but the banks withdrew the money.

‘That is something that could happen to a lot of clubs in the Premier League.’

So he's saying that if they hadn't paid the loans back, they'd have been fine?

Sounds like the #pompeyway.

If I robbed a bank and got away with it, I'd be rich #pompey.

It's StorrieTime!

To save Steve G getting sued I'll keep it simple.

The banks took the money because there was nowhere near enough income or value in the business to pay the debts - the club was in so deep it was going down faster than Fifi at Horton Heath.

As for that fantasy set of accounts they presented to the High Court...

The joke was on the rest of football as the judge accepted all of that nonesense about them addressing the debts and set them on their way to their next administration.

Nice try at a history rewrite though.

"EXCITING young prospects have been told Pompey is still the best place to learn their trade.

And Academy boss, Mark Kelly, believes the ‘opportunity’ of making the grade at Fratton Park can help the Blues fend off the threat of Premier League big guns."

This is so delusional. I like the way "opportunity" is in quotation marks - hahahahahahaha

You have to ask yourself...are we missing something here. Are the lure of fresh training ground cones something we have forgotten in our quest for excellence?

The last time Kelly spoke he talked of their academy as being the envy of all the top clubs.

Indeed, the conveyor belt of football talent coming out of Portsea and wiping the dog **** and broken glass off their boots before going on to international recognition has been pretty constant since they released Mick Mills.

Kelly is obviously quite unwell and in need of new medication.

I like that they can entice kids to their club with the promise of potentially being able to get thrown straight into a L2 side without needing much training.

I only wish that Saints were able to offer such riches as a direct route to the first team for Academy products - we could even try coaching them to reach their maximum potential too.

:D

I was being generous, he cannot string four words together - which even by Portsea standards is barely half a paragraph.

I'm not sure that picking up dogs muck and carrying cones about can be a full time occupation but I haven't heard him on Solent recently.

"Academy boss Mark Kelly and coach Mikey Harris have handed the players responsibility for organising their side for games.

It may mean extra homework for the youngsters, but Harris explained it’s been a useful tool in their development.

He said: ‘The lads are producing their own game plans and giving the team-talks.

Part of our philosophy is for the lads to try to take responsibility for themselves.'"

So those who aren't on dog**** cleaning duties, are busy cleaning the toilets or cutting the halftime oranges get to write the teamsheet. I am so jealous and impressed :mcinnes:
