Pompey Takeover Saga

I also heard that the Fratton faithful boo'd their team off the pitch but this simply can't be true as the bestest fans in the world ever ™ do not and never have boo'd their own players moosh.

According to Pompey Pravda, Andy Awful felt obliged to 'cane' his players after that performance, then admitted he would have to be nice to them again in time for their next outing in a couple of days. Sounds as though the hero/zero/villain swingometer will be working overtime during the festive season

Not quite true, they weren't booed by everyone,

Because most of them had left by the end :lol:

I heard today R Holmes has had a major falling out with Awford and RH thinks he is on his way next week. He claims Awford hasnt got a clue and the players have lost faith due to his constant tinkering. He also said Awford was told he had until Luton to start seeing an improvement or he would be replaced.

All of the above came from the horses mouth, my mate saw him in Port solent last week and had a good chat. With him.

from POL. he he ha ha he he

Just had a look at their thread about Matt Tubbs. Brilliant reply by someone claiming to be ITK...

"it is a message board I do not have to prove anything to be true"

Skates all over!

Done deal apparently. Yet he played and scored against them today.

You are quite right of course. P*mpey fans would never ever - boo - their own players. Absolutely not.

Except of course, for the times when they do. :mcinnes:

I suspect it was the most passionate and vocal booing ever heard in world football, the envy of all struggling clubs.

I remember when we were under performing the booing generated by our half empty, council-owned ground was very poor indeed.

Newcastle do good booing, as did United when Moyes was there, but the Fortress of Fat has taken it to a new level.

An incredible effort by the sleepiestest of all sleepy giants.

Neutrals might observe that it's not been a great 2014 for the plucky shareholders of the biggest fan-owned club in world football.

While Nutjobs naturally have that nagging fear that pompey will string some games together and make the play-offs before riding a wave of passion and gloriously battling their way into League One, below are the facts, and they ain't pretty for the bestest...

Their financial plans are based on promotion this season.

They need to average two points a game to make the play-offs. :scared:

NO team in the division has managed that thus far.

So whisper it quietly my jealous Scummah friends.....the facts would suggest that pompey will be playing in League Two for at least another eighteen months, if they can halt this slide!

What a comforting post. So, lots of entertainment to come, a wonderful sideshow to the main event of our premier league campaign.

Sideshow it may be, but rest assured it will be the bestest, most tinpot and developer-owned sideshow that ever was

Well, I have just sneaked over to their site, undercover of course, and have to say they sound all but broken. I actually felt a tinge of pity for them as some of them think they have hit rock bottom. It would be cruel to suggest to them that they may in future years dream of aiming at getting back to mid table in the 4th division.

They should all pray that they have hit rock bottom. We should all pray that they haven't :)

Seriously though, I have never before witnessed the resignation in their posts. I think the reality of a lack of success in the 4th division and a lack of hope for the future is grinding them down. I really think they are bobbing above the waves just before the final sinking. I do feel a bit of pity for them.

Those attendances are shored up by the cheap season tickets, a policy that generates quick money in the Summer but leaves the cashflow in a delicate state through the Spring.

Some games have seen only 2,000 paying customers - which certainly doesn't cover the wages of the largest squad gathered since Showaddywaddy teamed up with UB40.

Crunch time is once again in the summer when they need to sell the validity of the next plucky promotion battle to the masses - or start charging a realistic rate.

There must be a point where even the dimmest and most gullible will start to question the pre-season spin, they really need to find a manager who can at least do an impression of a promotion campaign.

Giving away cheap season tickets brings people through the gates but leaves the cashflow and balance sheet looking fragile, their business plan, as sketchy as it is, needs success.

Talk is cheap, at some point you have to walk the walk.

So wherever it is these days, I suspect their clock is ticking....

Their crowds are huge for that division. Once the debt payments are complete they will have a huge income advantage over the rest of the division and in the end that will tell, won't it?

I see the phew are starting to turn on to Awful Andy. It would be shame if he goes, he's doing a great job and has a splendid name. If he leaves I'd be just as disappointed as when Barking Richie was terminated.

"As a very senior PST board member said to me yesterday "people are in denial about how bad things are".

I wonder what he meant by that, I thought everything was honke dory in Pompey land with its all new shiney carpark and all.

And a Merry Christmas fellow nut jobs.

Don't worry, as long as they keep getting their parachute payments they should be able to just about keep their heads above water.

Oh.

Their fans are turning up still, I wonder how long before the attendances drop?

Their numbers may take a little bit of a hit if the unthinkable happens and they drop down to the Conference. Let's keep our fingers crossed for them.

Happy New Year nutjobs!

As rb has already pointed out, they're collecting a bit over £200 average per ST, and spending most of that before a ball is kicked in earnest in the league season.

Their biggest problem is Fratton Park, a huge money pit in it's current state for a 4th division club to keep licensed. At the moment they're keeping their certificate by a combination of

* Conscript labour free of charge from the Job Centre

* Fans with hammers and paintbrushes

* More investment from their directors, in exchange for shares

If there's any money from Tesco it will disappear down this hole too.

To stabilise their finances, even with their crowds, they either need to get promoted or get rid of FP.

I don't see either happening any time soon, so another financial crisis looms.

I wonder what will happen next year with finances as they sure as shyt wont win promotion this year

crowds will of course drop and 1 or 2 players will want to play in a higher league

More rotation of rubbish players and more of the same I'd guess!
