Pompey Takeover Saga

It will end in tears and sooner than their fans realise. When the manager/chairman relationship breaks down it is only a matter of time, believe me.

Agreed - spoke to a bloke at work the other day (follows them) and he said something like thingsg aren't right down there at the mo - he couldn't say what but I thought I'd pass it on as it seems to back up your recent posts.

Two famous blueprints for future prosperity.

We have world class catering and a radio station.

Rupert Lowe.

You can buy a cheap cup of tea at our place.

Mark Catlin.

Yes, the media bombshell today is that Fatpipes offers a cheaper day out than St Mary's and compares very reasonably with other clubs.

Their tea is cheap and their shirts come in a whopping 63p under the average for the division.

Hail the fan-owned revolution sweeping through world sport!

That's a bit harsh, I tend to call it spin.

It's only barefaced lies if the easily-led decide not to buy it.

But they lap up any old **** so for the moment it's not lies, it's just a few nice tales with a feelgood twist.

Like a crap soap opera full of escapist **** that distracts you from the horrific reality of life.

Why are we stuck in League Two??

Don't worry about that, look how cheap the tea is.

**** me, it's unreadable with those one line paragraphs and staccato style. It must be designed that way for people who trace the words with their finger when they are reading.

PS: Danbert, can we have an executive summary please...

In the wake of the Kevin Pietersen saga, Andy Awford gives us as his considered opinion that dressing room harmony is vital. As a player, Awford experienced the nebulous "dressing room unrest" but declines to name names. As a manager, he feels it best to let the players deal with any disputes themselves and only to step in when they cannot do so. Fortunately, he can completely honestly say "that there is nothing wrong at the moment. I can honestly say there is no problem to deal with."

So, after their 4th league draw on the trot, a sequence in which they've managed just two goals, with growing unrest on the terraces and with their only quality (if somewhat decrepit) striker and former coach permanently ostracized from the squad (but still pulling down a healthy salary), Awford is confident, indeed certain, that there is no squad unrest, no problem, in fact, at all. Indeed, there is soooo not a problem that Factless Junior has written an entire article about the complete absence of any sort of problem in the pompey dressing room. I for one am reassured that The News' gallant defenders of the truth are there to dig out stories like this and tell us what's really going on behind the scenes.

‘The Academy lads are stepping in as guinea pigs, if you like, checking the pitches are fine and the showers work and hopefully it will be the next step to us having a home.

‘Looking at it now, the pitches are up to standard, the catering facilities are finished, the changing rooms are done, the groundsman’s equipment store is on its way to being completed and they are working hard to finish the fencing.

‘Work is still going on with the buildings, so it could be a month or so before everything is finished.

‘In the meantime, this is a chance for us to see everything functioning, trying out the facilities to discover whether they are working from that side.´

I think we are more curious to see what happens with Tesco.

Another three senior staff left this week as the new team picks their way through the 'unusual' accounting methods of recent times and reviews all plans.

The only thing that might save Tesco fatpipes could be the building contracts that are already signed and may be expensive to halt.

Either way It'll be interesting to see if it starts in a fortnight as scheduled.

No doubt the local media are all over it and ready to update the fans who are always so desperate for information, especially when finance is involved.

Out of idle curiosity, I just had a look at the Companies House website and can see that "Portsmouth Community Football Club" satisfied/cleared 2 of the 5 charges on Nottarf Krap last month (23rd September) but the other 3 charges remain in place. Those 3 are for the PFA. Didn't they recently announce that they had cleared all "legacy debts" and doesn't the retention of these charges suggest otherwise? Might just be a time lag thing of course.

Just wondering...

"...as the eagerly-anticipated £1.1m project nears completion."

Just remind us again how much Saints training ground has cost to date.

So it's down to the youngster to risk AIDS, Hepatitis B, and goodness knows what other foul diseases lie festering in the soil, or on the discarded hypodermic needles on the Septic Isle.

It's the poor rookies who - after a strenuous session with Mark "The next George Best" (A. Ball) Kelly and former Salisbury boss Mikey Harris (affianced to Meridian's very own Sarah Gomme) - will switch on the showers to either find jets of scalding hot steam to burn their skin off, or freezing cold, chocolate brown water with chunks of rust in it, coming out of the shower heads.

This, after finding all their clothes nicked from lockers which have no locks.

Ashamed to admit I once took part in a training session with Pompey under the care of Alan Ball at Moneyfields.

It doesn't seem as if they have improved their facilities in the 25 years that have since past. In comparison the Staplewood facility seems to have been transformed a fair bit.

Wouldn't worry too much about any building contracts being in place. All the retailers are pretty happy to blow off a chunk of money in order to halt a store development. Better a million now than 18-20 million capital on a store that no longer meets strategy

I was asked to go down there for a trial when I was 17 that was over 40 years ago, unpolightly told them no thanks.

The Premier League chief executive, Richard Scudamore, has previously described Swansea City’s model, where the club is 20% owned by fans, as the “ideal”. Others further down the pyramid, including the former crisis club Portsmouth, are wholly owned by fans.

But even though Bury are flying high and tipped by many as promotion contenders, Awford believes there is nothing to fear.He said: ‘Just because Bury will be viewed as a team that will be up there at the end of the season, I don’t want us to go there and be cautious.

‘I don’t want us to wait – I want us to take the game to them.

‘If we were going to Man United or Arsenal, then you might have to look at how you are set up as a team.

‘But I don’t mean it disrespectfully to anyone – we are playing Bury. :mcinnes:

Yeah, Bury, that small insignificant team.....that are 9 places above the mighty Pompey in the 4th tier of English football. "No disrespect" my arse....

David Flitcroft team talk done. Just print that off in 84pt, and pin it on the back of the home dressing-room door.

If they had that much space available they'd have a new ground and training facilities envied the world over.

Or they'd probably just splash the (hypothetical) investment money on players and try and buy a cup - if they were allowed.

Nope, no mistake there.

By the way, did you know the club is 100% owned by the fans, and they paid all their debts in full two years early.

No wonder they're the envy of the modern football world, and a model we can only aspire to.

Assuming this won't work, but try right-clicking and open it, I've been sodding about with an Infographic and can't share cos it's a free site.

Gets a bit confusing around the Portpin time so tried to keep it simple.

So can anyone actually see the source image by right-clicking and pasting into a new page?

Can see it fine when right clicking and opening in a new tab.

Any chance you can re-do it to scale - the second circle is the same size as the fist... I appreciate that the 3rd circle may be no bigger than a full stop...

The 2nd circle shows a huge empty grey space where the debt used to be... :)
