Pompey Takeover Saga

Ok, so on Saturday, just before I took a photo of the new pre-payment point in the Northam, someone walked past me with a new shirt with NUTJOB 67 on the back of it.

I tried to explain to the wife, but she wouldn't believe such a thread existed (and you'd think she'd know given how often I'm on here).

Anyway, WHO ARE YA? Or is it just a scary coincidence.

PS, I was born in 1973, but I'm on page 2465, so if you can flag up when you lesser minions of pagecount are up to speed...

Just tracking back a bit to their success in raising the £250k on tifosy with what looked like some dodgy £50k or so pumped in out of the blue - why hasn't this been trumpeted in the snooze or by PST as the bestest fundraising ever?

Yet again, something down the road smells distinctly fishy.

Yeah, I thought it was a bit odd that only a week ago they were something like £70k short, and yet they (presumably, haven't seen any confirmation) reached their target. These sort of things tend to work on a law of diminishing returns, so there's a big rush of donations to begin with, and it gradually slows down after the early rush and publicity.

Just change tapatalk to display 50 threads per page instead of 40 and you'll get there.......my phone is showing 10 per page and I'm on page 9859...

Might make a bit more sense if they'd been at home on the weekend, but with an away match, you do wonder where that money suddenly appeared from...

exactly, the pook kid who gave £10 made the papers, on the website itself it mentions a remarkable £1,300 raised in one evening.

Spookily not even a mention of the other £50,000 .

Weird or what, :mcinnes:

Rather worryingly some of the madder conspiracy theories have been proved correct - arms dealers, non-existent owners, money-laundering, fantasy accounts, mafia connections, prossie-bothering managers, underwater casino plans etc.

Nutjobs just ask the questions that should have been asked by the few for the last ten years - plus the odd ones that don't need asking...

So out of interest, why the unusual declaration of an 11-month accounting period? - and where did that speedy £50K suddenly appear from?...some fans who had mysteriously missed all the previous begging requests, or a greedy property developer claiming another little chunk of the pie?

What I can't understand is that work will not start until sometime in 2015, now you would have thought they would have been sorting out all the planning by now ready to start, perhaps they are waiting to see what interest they make on the donations,

Fag packet maff's innit used ordinary packet instead of kingsize,

the offical reason, 11000 season tickets sent out last week each one had a begging bowl atached:rolleyes:

Don't stack up Mack. That cash came in on one big hot on Tifosy followed by daily donations returning to the five odd grand a day mark afterwards. Someone put a big wedge in, which I don't have a problem with. Just don't understand why it's not being shouted from the rooftops down there.

so why was the deadline last week, when work is not going to start until early next year, and also it hasn't even gone past the solicitors stage yet.

I guess they don't actually have the cash to pay for the solicitors until the collection buckets are emptied?

Also, isn't 2015 when the academy is proposed to be self funding? I'm guessing when the time comes around, they won't have an academy anyway, so won't need the money raised. This can then be spunked on replacing the fat in the pipes for the bestest shiniest fat and the skates will lap up the headlines.

Obligatory year of birth post too :)

Also, 'The9' - it is safe to post on this page ;)

Wouldn't surprise me if they stole that cash and the "academy" (LOL) pitches were quickly forgotten about. The inhabitants of that dump really are tragic.

£1/4 Million sat in the bank until feb/march. The temptation to spend that on players will be too strong for them.

So, according to Caitlin in the News, scope of work = 1x fence + some seeds

Say £10,000 for a fence

That leaves £240,000 for seeds. That will buy you around 70 tonnes of seed, enough for approximately 200 football pitches. Unless they're planning to plant the seeds first, then do the subsoil drainage, topsoil layers and irrigation later on.

As usual, it doesn't add up. If there was a plan, Caitlin would know what it is. He's just making up soundbites for the press.

My guess is they will spend around twenty grand on a couple of training pitches next year, and the rest of the cash will be turned into working capital without any equity.

But if they do build new changing facilities, indoor pitch and gym, medical suite, classrooms and a media suite as well then I'll take it all back.

from May

http://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/news/article/deal-agreed-for-new-training-ground-1564499.aspx

Contractors have been working on the site since April and the club hopes to be using the facility by the end of the summer.

from August

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/pompey-plot-start-date-for-academy-work-1-6230765

‘The next stage is working on the facilities and we have been speaking to the council for a few weeks now since we realised we were going to achieve this.

Obviously, there is a difficulty getting pitch work carried out in autumn and winter, but we are pretty hopeful pitch seeding can be carried out in February and March time for next season.

Bizarre style...

Or a pioneering new way?

Lazy cut and paste sentences.

Likely to annoy many.

Odd layout.

Criminal some might say.

Killing journalism through machine gun delivery.

Subs to blame?

Allen of the News

Single-sentence paragraphs

Illiterate ***t.

Perhaps writing in haiku form is Factless' ultimate aim? If so I'm all for it.

What is the ownership situation of this new training ground?

I realise that ownership is not an exact science down that way but it is being spun as theirs, I just wondered if that is true.

Is it land owned by Roko, leased to the club long term, plus an agreement over sharing gym facilities?

Or is it a proper training ground?

If it is the former, the only thing the few will own is a fence.

My memory isn't what it used to be, but from what I recall they are renting facilities from Roko, including outdoor pitches and indoor facilities for the squad. This was signed up and the work done.

This fan-funding malarkey is just to get 2 extra pitches for the academy to use, because there isn't room at the Roko facilities for the squad and the kids.

They are definitely renting the facilities for the squad. I think they are also planning to rent for the academy, but maybe I haven't actually seen that confirmed anywhere.

Ssssshhhhhh!

You're forgetting the golden rule! If you say something enough times on the sceptic isle it becomes truth! E.G. Scum / dockstrikes. 100% own the club. Debt free. Own the training ground. Penny Morduant is fit. Bestest fans in the world. Blue print for fan ownership. Etc etc....

No.

Despite an appeal by Bob Stokoe, 1973 was downgraded in CVA1 to 395.

It was further downgraded in CVA2 to 4AD.

Which either means that the Romans hadn't turned up yet, or that these four pages will be spread over five years.

Luckily they are ringfenced, making them the pluckiest bestest most passionate virtual pages on the internet.

Which makes me jealous.
