Pompey Takeover Saga

Just because a Judge gives leave to appeal does not suggest it will succeed. Otherwise why would he make a ruling against Pompey in the first place?

It could be that he is aware of the consequences and the importance of his decision and left it open to ratification by a higher court.

I was once refused leave to appeal a civil case. My Barristers thought I had a good case in that we felt the Judge had misinterpreted the evidence.

A very senior appeal judge considered our application and decided we had a good chance of winning the appeal and granted leave. We went to the appeal court and within 5 minutes we knew it would not be overturned.

It is very difficult winning an appeal and I am not at all suprised Pompey diod not appeal. I did not expect them to.

Storrie said they did appeal. Another lie?

He gives to them his worthless shares, gifting them a part of the club...... and absolving him of responsibility for the debt they represent.

What a hero.

Would also like to know what assets he is talking about. Everything is mortgaged to the hilt. He is even now suggesting that fans take out loans to buy the shares in the club. So having run out of assets themselves to secure future loans against they now want fans to do it

5pm Monday 1st February is what is always quoted. It's because of the Bank Holiday on the 1st January, I suppose.

As the 1st January is a Bank Holiday every year, that is certainly not the reason for the deadline extension.

Simply, it is because the 31st is on a Sunday, and we can't have all those hard working 'nerds' in the FA headquarters having their week-end spoilt by such trivial things as football transfer paperwork.

Ah Fahim: “Any money raised by the Pompey Trust will go towards supporting the new stadium proposal.”

New stadium?

Another nice quote.

There's only one team in Portsmouth... Hehehehe So that means they don't even compete with us for the one team in Hampshire title these days.

Oh and this is an old story, he made this "I'm trying to get rid of my involvement before it all goes wrong by dumpning my shares on the fans" line a month or so ago

I particularly liked this piece

“I don’t think we are at administration level yet; other Premier League clubs have far more debt,” he said. “The team has a lot of money in it in terms of value. The club may be poor in cash but it has money and assets and there are no bank loans. The debt lies with football creditors, other clubs, tax, Revenue and Customs and share holders. But the current regime is willing to work with new investors and there are interested parties, aside from the fans. Someone will invest.”

The other clubs with far more debt are either able to service it (Manyoo) or have a benefactor (Chelsea). All our fishy fiends have, it seems, are two (skint) Arab Billionaires!

They clearly cut out one important word

Someone will invest "insh'allah"

I love seeing the old cultural differences showing up.

One issue that many European business people can never get their heads around when they do business with this part of the world is the local concept of "time".

Meetings never happen "on time", in fact appointments are incredibly loosely adhered to, often, you just walk in to the office.

In simplistic terms, in "The West", you are "culturally programmed" born, go to school, get a job, get married, have 2.4 kids, get a mortgage, get a pension, retire, die. It is as if you have a ticking clock in your head, so the magic words such as "Time Management" and "Planning" come into play.

Down here that clock doesn't exist in the same way. Life is "more" meandering, based upon the will of "external factors". Deadlines are more a starting point for negotiations, things NEVER happen on time.

(A great example is the number of people down here who book a flight, check in and then simply decide not to get onboard or happily stay talking on the phone in the departure lounge and simply cannot comprehend why the plane isn't still there waiting for them)

One of the possible reasons for this whole meltdown is that the Arab owners actually really believe that everything will be alright.

They haven't had extensive dealings in the UK, they quite simply may not have been able to grasp the fact that the clock TICKS. It isn't foolishness, it simply never occurs to them that HMRC actually meant the debt had to be paid on a certain day. (Plenty of examples of never getting paid in this part of the world!)

Business based Cultural misunderstanding with Brits, Arabs, partial Russians & Israelis all in the mix may be as much to blame for the past months of mayhem as all of the dealings before hand. They certainly would not be the first European based business to totally screw things up by "ASSUMING" just because English language is spoken they are talking about the same things

How does anything get done then?

Of course, in this instance, it suits our agenda to see the 'owners' procrastinate and prevaricate!

I had to look up "insh'allah"

Well, that's why they have ex pats...;)

It's why the roads are so dangerous - red Light, no problem. It is the will of kerbang..

Imagine EoA being replaced in Air Traffic.. yes habibe come on land is no problem insh'allah

Yes we will find new investors...

It is ONLY ever a problem when you foolishly believe it.

Maybe the few will get saved, but it will take an act of God, not an investor with brains...

You have to admire (I guess) Grants chutzpah:

Avram Grant has accused the Premier League of not giving Portsmouth a fair chance to avoid the drop.

Although the transfer embargo that was placed on Pompey last month has now been lifted, it only extends to loan players.

"The Premier League made a big mistake," he told BBC TV's Match of the Day. "They needed to give us an equal chance.

Which leaves Stoke or Stoke as the last people interested in the few's keepers. Hopefully they'll take James on a free rather than Begovic for 3mil

Which leads me to hope that Agent Pulis does us a favour (as we took his son) and pulls out at the last minute.

In which case, I will walk to St Marys for a new home shirt with 'Pulis' on the back. :-)

The man is a moron.

It's called 'presenting a front'. The trouble is he is not a very good actor nor is he a very good liar. Maybe the way out for the Skates is for TTWTB to play SAF at poker and win his supposed billions off of him. Even that moron would be able to bluff better than SAF.

That wouldn't work. SBT doesn't even have a couple of Cowrie shells to rub together.

Unless Sultan Bin Trump acts as the dealer in a game with TS

(Ironic that the followers of the alleged backer of SBT all wear RED shirts)

SOS POMPEY!

Portsmouth Fans United For Their Club

PRESS RELEASE

POMPEY FANS TO TAKE THEIR PROTEST TO THE PREMIER LEAGUE

Pompey appear to have their best players being sold by a convicted fraudster.

The Chief Executive Officer, Executive Director and Manager have disavowed any involvement in these transfer deals.

This means there is a very real possibility the club is being effectively run by three times convicted fraudster Danny Azougy acting as a Shadow Director, which is against Premier League rules.

Why have the Premier League refused to act?

Why are they allowing their rulebook to be flouted?

SOS Pompey encourages all fans travelling to Fulham on Wednesday 3rd February to congregate outside:

FA Premier League headquarters at 30 Gloucester Place, London, W1U 8PL at 5.00pm

SOS Pompey asks all supporters to demonstrate peacefully and refrain from any racist chanting.
