Pompey Takeover Saga

The great unwashed make the headlines in Dubai. Don't know if the person in question is

a) A TSW Nutjob b) a skate or c) a n other fan who has had the misfortune of visiting Fortress Fatpipes to see his team have their "FA Cup Final" there.

Basically he has been banned from one of the less desirable Bars in Dubai - Rock Bottom - (Dubai Phil frequents it so I rest my case ;-) .), after being chucked out for being drunk and disorderly and then had a bit of a drunken rant on FaceBook!! .........

Management at Rock Bottom confirmed that the 25-year-old Englishman has been barred from both branches of the popular watering hole after he wrote “derogatory” comments in a foul-mouthed rant on his social network page.

Scott Charlton, the manager of Rock Bottom’s Tecom branch, claimed the man was “very drunk” in the venue last

Tuesday and had to be escorted out by security, which sparked the offensive online remarks.

In his post, the Rock Bottom customer slammed senior management and labelled bouncers as “warped”.

Despite pledging never to set foot in the bar again, he returned last Thursday and Charlton approached him to ask why he had posted the comments on Facebook.

“His comments did not make valid points and they were just direct attacks. If he had valid complaints he should have came to us,” Charlton said.

The man, who 7DAYS has chosen not to name, said that when he asked the manager how he knew about the comments, the Rock Bottom boss replied: “Because we have 46 mutual friends on Facebook.”

The man claimed Rock Bottom was the “worst” place he’d ever experienced.

“And I’ve been to a Portsmouth home game,” he added

Pompeyscot looks to be running off in a strop because he didn't like some questions over on POL. He is threatening that the forum will shut down but it's clearly just attention seeking and will not be going anywhere.

I thought he'd handed ownership of the site over to someone else after all that nonsense a year or two ago? :?

He certainly had another strop around that time but didn't go through with his threat if I recall. Not that you can see for yourself as they banned you for no reason :)

Well done the trust. .

Saved our club. .and made it stable. .

All the fans have played a part..by turning up in numbers. .and giving their hard earned cash..into the club..and now trying to fund a academy pitches site..

Quality fans...

The Trust. .and the fans..stood up for pompey ...and been ..steadfast .......unlike the fans of some other clubs..

Who gave up at the first hurdle.

1963 - what a year that was!

Meanwhile, what is Farmery doing at a car boot sale in Rome?

Though I understand his excitement, it's difficult to spot a pompey shirt in Cosham these days between all the Chelsea and United ones, as the little minnow sinks beneath the media frenzy of the nasty Premier League and into obscurity.

They will soon be a club remembered only by bitter old men who like the superior sound quality of cassette tapes, strippers in pubs, and Love Thy Neighbour.

I would be gutted if they get the America's Cup team though, the Woolston site would be perfect.

I reckon Southampton City Council have ballsed up by declaring their interest in this, they could have kept it quiet and waited for the NIMBYs in Portsmouth to reject the idea. Instead, one of the PCC councillors at the meeting last night specifically said "if we don't approve this, they'll go down the road to Southampton", which will probably make them vote in favour now, when they might have been minded to reject it.

"When I was a youngster growing up in Paulsgrove in a dysfunctional family" !

Confirmation, if ever it was needed :)

But what constitutes "dysfunctional" in Paulsgrove?

At first I'd have called this a clear tautology, but on reflection maybe he means that his parents were related only by marriage. That would certainly count as dysfunctional in Paulsgrove. Unheard of even.

I'm on page 2453 already, so this could get quite tedious for me in the next few months.

ha same, also page 2,453. I'm always confused why I am on different pages to everyone else - now I know I'm not the only one!

I'd have thought that 'nominal' for League Two is more likely to be around the £50K mark.

Their cut should be enough to pay Connolly through the summer.

The financial gulf between the lower leagues and the Championship widens with every day that passes.

They must be pleased that they put their confidence in youth and concentrated on the academy to provide the players who will get them back to their seat at the top table.

It's shrewd business decisions like that from their talented board that will give them the edge over lesser clubs.

Saw a bloke walking through Winchester wearing one of those on Monday.

A Newport "Robert Price" sponsored rugby shirt, I mean, obviously. Haven't seen a Skate shirt here since 2009.

The season's The9 Derby is August 30th, Newport County back at Fratton. West Ham away can ram it.

A lovely comment from a poster on pol:

My ex-wife came back to the city yesterday for a meeting about our youngest (having moved away 7 years ago) and she'd forgotten how unique Pompey is as a city! Nothing embarrassing about a 7 months pregnant, made-up to the 9s, dyed blonde in tight leggings and a bikini top chain smoking down the street, is there? I didn't even notice cos it's Pompey but she was rather shocked! Chubby schoolgirl in immaculate school uniform brazenly walking home from Milton Cross with a skirt shorter than most belts! It's Pompey!

Craig Westcarr has revealed Pompey’s ambition persuaded him to snub four League One clubs in favour of dropping down a division.

That and perhaps the two year contract on improved wages?

There's a lad with ambition!

The chance to play in the third tier? - no, lower please, lower.

Would you like to play in the Premier League?

No, the Championship will do for me ta.

Fancy a game in the World Cup?

Nah, a pointless international friendly would be more my scene.

Want to be a pro footballer?

Not really, I'd prefer to work in a shop.

It can only be the lure of playing as part of the best atmosphere in world football.

Now that's a blow.

I reckoned that I knew who Rallyboy was .... but that person started university in 1977 so unless Rallyboy started at the age of 14 at university it cannot be him.

How can I nominate Rallyboy for the awards that he deserves if I do not know who he is??

Hilariously for me it's next to a Newport rugby kit, and not even people in Newport are particularly bothered about them any more since regional rugbish.

Does not Farmery realise that Porta Portese is a flea market where any old tat goes?

Rather amusing that a "fan owned club" won't tell its owners how much transfer fee was received for Sonny Bradley.

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/awford-targets-new-defender-1-6126348

Probably to do with this: "In keeping with requirements of the Professional Footballers’ Association, 50 per cent of the transfer figure will go towards paying legacy debts."

They will try and fiddle the amount they need to hand over to the PFA.
