Another money making idea.

As SFC have been doing this for a number of years, Lotto tickets for the Saints Foundation (well over £1m raised IIRC), I would like to congratulate that pioneering south coast club for once again showing us the way with this trailblazing new initiative, truly innovative, simply the bestest.

Will it conveniently be a consistent rollover for all eternity?

At what point will the trust pop up to say that they have been taking a 50% cut all along?

Launching a club lottery?

Is it 1965?

They really are pioneering new sports marketing ideas for the digital age.

It's all gone a bit Brylcreem and halftime Woodbine.

Next up, a football league insert in every programme, and Bobby Moore encourages you to play darts in your local pub.

The Pompey lottery? I thought that was another name for a night out at Gunwharf Keys.

The pompey lottery is a hospital that lost out on investment because someone thought it was more important to keep a rancid football club alive rather than pay back more than 4p in the pound to the public purse.

An excellent point Mr T.

If only there was an image available of the robbery victim making a quick exit from the site of a future Tesco.

Looking like a big clear out is looming. Wonder if they will replace with another 16 journeymen?

Please, be serious. What do you think?

It will be balls-out to storm League Two next season.

No doubt, Admiral Awford will be provided with a sizeable, Nelson-sized war chest, and the money will be found from somewhere.

You can see charity collecting boxes on newsagents' counters on the Septic Isle being chained down, giant cardboard cheques being dishonoured, and even more 'charity' bike rides which aren't for charity.

You can also see the HNWs coughing up even more money and the share percentage owned by the bestest, biggest fan-owned trust in the world being diluted more than botox.

Surely there can't be another set of bestest fans???

Relegation-threatened Birmingham City manager Lee Clark says that staying in the Championship on Saturday would reward the faith of their loyal fans.

Although attendances have continued to drop at St Andrew's this season for a third successive year, the club's uncertain off-field future is a factor.

Blues will be backed by a sell-out 3,500 away crowd at Bolton on Saturday.

"We've got to keep fighting for these unbelievable fans. They never cease to amaze me," Clark told BBC WM 95.6.

@solentsport: Andy Awford expected to be confirmed as #Pompey boss on a permanent basis later this morning

I'm not an expert on Pompeyspeak, in spite of living in a PO postcode, but what are the semantics of "permanent" in this context?

It's an open topped contract, apparently, valid for 250,000 years

Ive not really followed the whole Carson Yeung story too closely, however he has been found guilty and sentenced to six years for money laundering.

Its not who you know...

Found this comment on one of their forums. Not sure any Cherries fans would agree, come to think of it not many fans full stop would agree with it.

AFC Bournemouth lost £15.3m in the financial year ending July 2013, the season in which they were promoted to the Championship

Their Russian Owner has lent them c.£8 million

Sounds a bit dodgy, rather be in our position anytime!

Not sure any Cherries fans would agree with the last little comment, who would want to swap with a team who have just struggled all season to stay in the FL. LOL

Your sprawling country estate is rubbish sneered the cross-eyed bitter tramp, from his ****-riddled cardboard box.

sounds a bit dodgy said the pompey fan, ignoring a whole decade of theft, money-laundering and financial irregularities, in a failed attempt at insulting a bigger club two divisions higher.

"Andy Awford will be handed the remit to rip up Pompey’s bulging squad this summer. And with 16 first-team players out of contract, the scope is there to perform extensive surgery in the push to ensure there will be no relegation scare repeat."

Setting their sights high, I see. :D

So he wasn't up to the job in March? But he is now, on the back on some of the players pulling their socks up when they realised they were suddenly out of contract and in the spotlight. So has McInnes blundered again? Tune in next season for another episode in the P*mpey version of the Office.

The Office? Surely the goings on down there are more like an episode of Soap.

So, according to Awford the club "needs to be back in the Championship" but that might not be for 15 years... I would suggest that if it took that long then there is no 'need' to be in the Championship at all, because if they're not extinct after that long surviving in Leagues 1 or 2 (or lower) then they should (even them) have cut their cloth accordingly by that point.

We have heard all of this before from Whittingham and his boss - and then the board started discovering additional revenue, utilising parachute cash, rethinking budgets etc, to speed up their inevitable return to the summit of the world game.

I'll be convinced about the leopard changing it's spots when it stops sprinting about biting things.

Ahh 'soap'. Thought I was the only one in the world who remembered that. Still that had nothing on this saga.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. A few decent results (with their often-extended budget, the least they should be doing is beating a few also-rans in League Two) and he gets the job permanently. He then f*cks it up, they spiral into turmoil, before a caretaker is appointed and repeat.

Yep, what with a transfer fee embargo n'all, he'll be able to replace them with different out-of-contract journeymen. Although I'm sure the new lot will be the bestest this time round.

And with this evenings result they can kiss goodbye to a Payout from Liverpool. Hope they hadn't banked it already.

If they'd had the deserved 10 penalty this season, the last minute goal they conceded today would've sent them down. :x

On the bright side I'm sure Awful can do us proud next season.

Posted

Very good point Mr Munster - by writing off their penalty the FL actually kept them in the football league.

Though, had they been -10 all season I would imagine they'd have given it up long ago and been about 15pts adrift.

Either way, Bristol Rovers can say a big thank you to the erratic FL justice system.

Posted

Perhaps Rovers can join in the action with the relegated PL clubs. These clubs are citing the AFC Wimbledon points deduction this season and comparing it to the lack of points deductions for Sunderland.
