A last minute winner at that dump and an FA Cup win are probably the two greatest things I'd want to every see with Saints. So jealous of those who have witnessed both.

I was working for a firm that was just around the corner from that dump. I was warned not to come into work on the Monday if saints won. I was only an apprentice at the time, but lived to tell the tale.

One last photo then - again never been published until now

Amazing photo.

Jealous of everyone that was there that day, before my time though.

What a day 10k saints fans celebrating, you young ones who missed this day I am sorry for. Without a doubt the most memorable moments in my supporting life.Even better than 76.

was my 1st ever away game. never been one better

I think if they go down to the Conference they don't qualify for any remaining parachute payments.

There aren't any more parachute payments, the last one is this season.

Funnily enough if they are relegated to the Conference they will get a new parachute of just over £200k for one season. On the other hand they would lose the £750k that L2 teams get from the Premiership each year.

Thanks Duncan. Hopefully somebody might recognise themselves.

Not only was that one of my favourite days ever, it was also my birthday! The best birthday I’ve ever had bar none.

I really don't know if these phew fans are being serious or not.

With our large travelling support we represent a healthy pay day for many clubs. Surely someone will throw us a game to ensure we stay in the league.

Was thinking this earlier today. Reckon Plymouth would help out if necessary - just hope they don't need points for a playoff place.

League 2 could use Pompey, as League 1 has Sheffield United. There is no other team close to providing a big day out, plus the benefits of all the away support.

However, throwing games is a toughie. We should get there anyway, but will we. Fascinating expectations for the game on Saturday, hopefully.

@pn_neil_allen: That's it, no more arrivals. Danny Hollands and the return of Ryan Bird. Was enquiry for Jamie O'Hara but couldn't be sorted. #Pompey

Couldn't be sorted because they already had 5 loanees. Oops.

Ha Ha....I worked in the dockyard, it was awesome. Used to wear a big white donkey jacket (standard dockie issue) with SFC in RED as big as I could get it right across the back, had it for most of my time there.......Used to get the looks and the odd comment but they just got the same back........happy days

Watching that video just confirms that Neil Allen is just a simple, friendly character who despite being monumentally thick and very slow, perhaps actually has a decent heart? Maybe he gets too much stick on here.

To be fair, you can tell how simple he must be by his writing style inability to gain a greater perspective. Poor fool.

Talking of thick skates...

Despite their buds getting f*cked off the job trying to put a skate shirt in a wall at the new training ground, these f*ckwits will today pick up their P45s.

Easily identified, Tony is just 3'6", while Froggie is well known for not possessing any genitalia. Oh, and their mates put all their details over the web.

It confirms he has a face best suited to the written press.

Tony managed to pizz over the bus, Froggie struggled with that. I bet his mates were impressed when he bragged "I pizzed near the Southampton bus".

@pn_neil_allen: Iain McInnes insists #Pompey's Jamie O'Hara deadline day approach was no 'gimmick'. http://t.co/jrXorK2rDL

The Pompey chairman said: ‘We decided on Wednesday night that one of the things we wanted to do was try to get really impressive signings that could give the crowd something to get excited about and the best possible opportunity to stay in this division.

‘Jamie O’Hara was on the list. We got permission to talk to him yesterday and we were serious about it.

‘The club also had someone who was prepared to fund his wages outside of the budget – one of the high-net-worth people that continue to support this football club.

‘Unfortunately, it didn’t happen, which is a real shame.

‘Perhaps it was just a little bit too late. I’m not too sure of the exact details why it didn’t happen for us.

Try reading Saintsweb Iain, then you'd know....

Just off the phone from my Wolves mate. O'Hara said no & Wolves simply laughed at the offer which involved no loan fee and Wolves paying 80% of the wages. The quote I've been told is "phone is back then you if you want to make a serious offer".

Are you sure it's £750k each... that's £18m to League Two! I cannot believe the PL would be that generous.

From March Last Year:

"Clubs in the Championship who do not get parachute payments currently receive £2.3m a season, League One sides £325,000 and League Two sides £250,000. It is proposed that those payments are increased by around 5% under the new offer."

I'm not sure if the new offer was voted in.

Looking ahead, the critical week is the 19th - 26th April with 3 games against the teams just around them, H to Bristol Rovers, then away to Northampton and Bury. Beginning to remind me of our continual flirts with relegation and the Great Escape - but who is/will be their hero - Ryan Bird maybe?

Flash mob to Northampton on Easter Monday?

I see they've got a headhunting consultancy now looking for the new manager down at Fratton Park.

They're looking for somebody with at least 5 years experience in a medium-sized food orientated retail environment.

So this is basically an admission by Pompey fans that their team is so poor they need help from fellow League 2 teams to get the necessary points required to stay in the Football League. What a great, massive club they truly are

I think the word we're all looking for here is "cheat".

Again.

not sure this thread needs another Portsmyth, but I noticed on their Wikipedia page that they claim the record for number of season tickets sold in League 2 (10,000), despite that fact Bradford sold over 12,000 season tickets in the 2007/8 season, all be it at a discounted price.
