Pompey Takeover Saga

If that is true that they flew up to Manchester and have stayed in a 5 star hotel having it large while the actual staff who need money have not been paid then that is a farce.

That story from the Mail about the 10 grand cost of getting to the game is just simply ridiculous and way out of order.

I view Man City with great disdain, but today they could really do the rest of the football world a real favour and repeat their tonking of the skates.

The story of the "numerous" court orders being delivered to the fan also shows up what a totally insane situation now exists.

It has clearly moved a long way beyond being a joke. My sympathy to the staff and suppliers who are having their noses rubbed into the dirt.

Rednapp is a ****in hero. I don't understand why media continues to portray him as some kind of supeman figure in football manger circles. I hope when the post mortem is completed at pompey the public domain are told just what part he played in their demise.

The man has played a part in destroying every club he has managed. Bournmoutest, West Ham, Pompey, Saints who's next? Oh yes Tottenham.

From the Skate-News -

Pompey line up Kaboul replacement

Pompey are targeting Nyron Nosworthy or Danny ****tu to replace Younes Kaboul.

wtf???? How can the PL let them continue trying to sign players?

They can bang on as much as they like about signing players. What player in their right mind would sign a contract with them? Ill eat my hat if they manager to bring anyone in.

AND FINALLY...

Portsmouth players waiting for their wages and fans used to less-than-palatial Fratton Park will be pleased to hear chief executive Peter Storrie and his wife want planning approval for a 'ground floor infill extension and first-floor extension to front, new railings to rear balcony, canopy to front and new wall and gates to front boundary' at their already impressive house on Hayling Island.

Redknapp says Pompey would have been in admin on Monday if he had not signed Kaboul.

Where as now it will have to wait till Tuesday.

Also how selling their keeper for £2M can 'stave' off financial ruin I don't know. It's almost like someone at the club is telling the papers that they will be okay if they sell him without the reporters being able to do their own sums.

I like this...

The £5million fee for Kaboul on his own will not reach the Fratton Park coffers in full because they still owe Spurs money from their original purchase and a sell-on fee, even though he is going back to White Hart Lane.

A poster on a skate site is saying that if they go into admin then they automatically forfeit the 2 years parachute payments assuming they also go down (which they would with -9 points) - this is worth about £40 million apparently. The poster was not sure what happened to the prize money they would receive for finishing 20th. (£30 million also?)

Assuming this is true, if they are not wound up but go into administration and survive there is only one way they are going, the only question that remains is not "if" but "when" we pass them on our way up. In their current state they are not an attractive proposition for an investor, in administration they would not be an attractive proposition for an investor. Either way they are f***ed.

Some interesting comments in general about debts in football in the Observer this morning - including some from Mark Fry.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/jan/31/premier-league-debts-panel

For me Gerald Krasner hits the nail on the head - 'If clubs owe the Revenue, the League would automatically pay a percentage of the money they would normally be distributing to that club direct to the Revenue. That would concentrate minds. As things stand now it would have to go to a chairmen's vote and that would be like turkeys voting for Christmas'

No surprise that Harry's agent doesn't want any change!!

See http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/5361321/Premier-League-The-money-table.html - looks like well under £1M last year, will be a bit higher this I guess.

I thought the parachute payments were something like £9M x2?

Either way, this future TV money and the ground are already security for existing loans?

They can't pay £60 but they are still trading - WAKEY WAKEY PREMIER LEAGUE!!!!

It's over, they have technically been in admin for four months but no one will admit it.

But on a personal note, the longer they hang on the better, the debt is rising, the recovery less likely, but the slowest train crash in financal history cannot survive the upcoming court appearance, can it?

Storrie saying the club needs investment ''in the next few weeks''

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_5903527,00.html

''We have to get that in the next month or two so we can keep this club going."

He added: "It is a very unusual occurrence for a Premier League side to be in this position but at the moment there is no finance.''

Weeks? Days more like it! :D

And Avram's only been paid once, and he's funding things from his own pocket?! Thats got to prove they are insolvent?

http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/sport/712008/GRANT-HAS-ONLY-BEEN-PAID-ONCE-BY-POMPEY.html

''Grant, the former manager of mega-bucks Chelsea, first joined Pompey as director of football on October 7 before taking over from sacked manager Paul Hart at the end of November.

But, so far, only one month of his £1m-a-year salary has been paid under mystery owner Ali Al-Faraj's regime.

The club personally owe Grant at least £166,500, yet the beleaguered boss has been personally financing expenses on the club's behalf.

And he has no idea if he will ever be reimbursed for dipping his hand in his pocket. A source close to Grant said: "He is extremely frustrated. He feels let down by the board but he is still focused on the job at hand.

"No one could blame him if he walked away tomorrow but he is very proud to be an Israeli manager in charge of his second Premier League club with a great history behind it."

But chief executive Storrie said the club must also secure new investment quickly to stave off going bust and he has been negotiating with horse racing tycoon John Magnier and Saadi Gaddafi, son of Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi (end quote) Funny how it was reported by Pompey last week that they had no contact with Gaddafi.

You just know Gaddafi will roll up as owner, the dirty club as it is now would jump at the chance. The Pompey in its real glory days would never have gone near it.

Any mediocre Championship player will jump at the chance, neither of the players mentioned are worth a **** so will leap at the chnace of doubling their wages (if they get paid)

Tells Stories said that they had had no problem enticing players even with the fear of not getting paid..

Anyone else amazed that they are paying Grant £1m?
