Pompey Takeover Saga

In portsmythmatics 5-2 is a clear stalemate, a draw, the board is split right down the middle - it could go either way, who gets the casting vote?

Or is it that the three members of the Trust are split 2-1 and the other four don't give a sh!t as long as they get a supermarket?

What about all the other 'shareholders', don't they get a vote!.................

Does this mean Steve Coppell will no longer be doing all that tireless work he was definitely doing for no money? Big loss.

There's a fair chance that Coppell will stay, I guess - only because nobody from pompey knows how to calculate a reduced and deferred percentage of £0 as a pay off.

‘Maybe it will take us to sit down today, really drill each other about this and get things right out there in the open.'

‘The manager is doing it and we are all listening to that.'

‘But maybe it will take one of us to get us together and get it sorted.’

You couldn't re-order those words so that they actually mean something, could you? As an EFL teacher I'm used to people mangling the English language and working out what they mean, but there are limits...

I would love to know how much compo Barker got and also when is McInnes presser scheduled to unveil Awfs? can't wait. Already Bob beech is congratulating the board on making the right decision but no mention of the shocking decision to appoint him in the first place.

@pn_neil_allen: Barker gone, Awfs steps up as caretaker and expect very busy day on loan front as #Pompey push boat out financially on staying up.

:mcinnes:

Spend, spend, spend.....Don't they ever ****ing learn?

It's a disease down there, they just can't help themselves. They're like the gin drunk pensioner you see in Ladbrokes feeding the remains of their pension into the roulette machine with a tear rolling down their cheek.

@bigadamsport: RT @solentsport: #pompey confirm Richie Barker sacking in statement. "mutual consent" according to club. Andy Awford tasked with keeping club up.

Well there's a surprise....no need for the inconvenience of actually paying compensation then.... #sameoldpompey

Richie Barker departs as manager

Richie Barker has left his position as Portsmouth Football Club manager by mutual consent.

Following a meeting between Richie and the board, both parties agreed that it was in the best interests of the club.

Portsmouth Football Club would like to thank Richie for all his work and wish him well for the future.

Andy Awford has been appointed caretaker manager until the end of the season.

Well, Awford won none of his last five games in charge as caretaker so let's hope he stays consistent.

I have to say that if I was a CEO, manager or player of another club approached today by Pompey seeking loanees I'd find it hard to keep a straight face before politely saying "Not today, thanks!"

I was hoping that he'd be due some compensation... there would've something almost poetic about the fact that he, a manager who could well be significantly responsible for their ultimate relegation out of the Football League, would sit alongside players who won them the FA Cup thanks to their unsustainable wages, on the same list of footballing debts.

We certainly owe them all a debt of gratitude. :D

I expect mutual consent just avoids the term sacking which gets McInnes, Catlin and the board off the hook slightly by apportioning blame on to Barker who appears to accept it. It probably still means some form of pay off though. Why would Richie forego a payoff entirely? At the least he will be being paid to keep his trap shut about what a shambles it is down there.

Not sure how much of a compensation package he'd be owed anyway.

Press reports at the time of his appointment stated he was put on a 'standard rolling contract' but they didn't specify whether that was a week, a month, a year, etc..

It was an annual rolling contract - It will cost them a years wages, which I guess will be somewhere between 75 - 120k (Not much win bonus to pay :) :) )

JOBSITE AD - Temporary role as caretaker hero.

Possible Opportunity.

Chance for really poor manager to come in, to have no effect, but to take responsibility for a couple of scratchy results that will keep a team in the football league.

The successful candidate will be expected to have a track history three divisions higher and no self respect - they will also be asked to rebuild quite badly in the summer, while pretending they knew nothing about the finances, and moaning about lack of funds.

They will also be responsible for delusional press conferences and be expected to work to a standard media template regarding fans, the club, performances, and the rewriting of history as it happens.

After a short trial period as a hero the candidate is likely to be abused both verbally and physically, there may be a request for the inevitable payoff to be deferred at this time too.

Wages will be much higher than elsewhere, but there is a pretty good chance the lucky winner won't actually get them.

This is a prestigious role working with some of the best fans, the most experienced management structures in world sport, and with no real budget limitations of any sort.

It's nothing to do with property developers at all.

So if you think you have what it takes to revive the sleepiest giant ever, send your CV, wrapped around a bottle of pre-2000 Bollinger, to Mr McInnes, The Fortress Fatpipes Harbourdome, Debt Lane, Delusionton, Portsea, P1 K3Y.

These contracts tend to run for about seven months, three of which will be unpaid.

Those who fail to attach a stamp will be looked upon favourably.

If you are still owed money from your last stint in this role, you need not apply.

This had me laughing out loud, and the last two lines had me in stitches. Excellent, excellent work! :toppa:

O'Hara was shyte the first time and has done nothing for Wolves since either. He wasn't even allocated a squad number at the start of this season. Bring it on. Another classic mistake in the making. Two desperadoes in reality.

I don't think O'Hara has played a first team game since November. How much of his reported 20k per week will Wolves be expected to cover ?

Well, at 2p in the pound I make that P****y will pay £400 (perhaps, if they have it) and Wolves will pay the other £19,600.
