"If this deal goes through the football club will be in as good a position as its ever been....to create a football ground we can all be proud of".

Are they not proud of Fratton municipal tip and toilet?

So the restrictive covenant on the Fratton Park land has been removed? :uhoh:

Thirdly, the councils cabinet, chaired by council leader Gerald Vernon-Jackson, voted to remove a restriction banning shops from being built on the land.

Crucially, this lifts one of the largest obstacles to the Tesco development taking place.

...

This deal will ensure that the club has a far greater chance of redeveloping Fratton Park in the long term which is the ultimate goal of the club.

Yes Colin - and it also ensures that there is a far greater chance of Fratton being bought from the administrators when you next go bust and being completely bulldozed to make way for an extended Tesco and an Ikea.

LOL, the hypocrisy of the skates is brilliant.

Wasnt this the covennant that they trumpeted in the press, to the council, to the courts? It was a huge negotiating tool in the process of paying off Chinny, making it as clear as possible (whether true or #factless) that the council wouldnt let him bulldoze fatpipes for commercial interests.

Yet it is absolutely fine for the Spurs fan to do exactly that with Tesco LOL

Corpy, where is the £20million in promised funding now that fratton is open for any development anyone wishes?

So I wonder whether councillors have voted against the core plan by removing the covenant.

It will certainly make an interesting case for those opposing the proposal such as small shop owners if they get their acts together and persuade the planning officer that it is wrong.

THE path has been cleared for a development to take place which could see Fratton Park turned into a 21st century stadium.

The lease on a second parcel of land off Anson Road, currently leased by Point Estates, will be transferred to Portsmouth Community Football Club Ltd and, subject to planning permission being granted will be turned into a 250-space car park.

Seriously? A 250 space car park will make falling down park into a 21st century stadium?

I suspect it might need a little bit more than a couple of square metres of tarmac ;)

From The News comments

Disappointingly and honestly, the covenant stipulating football should be played at Fratton Park has been disregarded since August.

Stealing that. Brilliant.

I wonder how close corp ho is to all the goings on?

I miss his Pompey transfer target round ups

I don't know whether you know this but he used to know somebody very high up at Pompey who he used to meet socially every few weeks.

Bury have drawn tonight at home to Oxford using up one of their games in hand and in the process have leapfrogged lowly Portsmouth.

One less team between them and the trapdoor.

Yesterday, Portsmouth City Councils cabinet members voted to sell a parcel of land off

Anson Road to Point Estates LLP, which is owned by developer Stuart Robinson.

Point Estates leases the land, and will become the freeholder for an undisclosed sum.

I wonder how much that was ? Can someone put in a freedom of information request

( or whatever it is called in the UK ) to find out ?

That must be the £20M that pompey are due from Tesco after the council give them the land for nothing.

(anyone who hasn't followed the thread in full must wonder what the frick we are on about half the time)

I've read most of it and still confused..

Anyway, not long to wait before I get to see the mighty Magpies* play at FP, and I look forward to the return at York Road and a good excuse to visit me mum..

As the phew seem to live so far back in the past, I am surprised that they did not see through the HNW's Landgrab game

Nottarf was doomed from the day they were caught buying the FA Cup.

The only issue is how far down the pyramid the HNW's can send them so that the new "bike shed" on Farlington Marshes or in Havant can be built smaller & cheaper making them more money from Tesco's.

They'll just about manage a Fleetwood sized stadium now

Posted

I've played on the Farlington pitches; a bit prone to

Be waterlogged. Actually, come to think of it, the same

applies to Bartons Road: used to kickabout there when

was a public park.

So they should feel right at home in the mud..

Richie has scrapped the development squad now.

Bit of a desperate move when developing your own players is the only way forward.

If their academy goes the same way we know they have finally stopped trading and put the cat out.

Pity really, we were told before that it was the envy of all other clubs.

I enjoy this saga Topic...endless fun and quite frankly an illuminating and frightening insight of just what can go wrong with a football club.

The one thing I can't understand is why any Saints fan would regularly post comments on the Snooze website...if you're still doing it for god save STOP! You're making yourself look stupid! It's not big and it's not clever...have some class, like the rest of us Nutjobs.

I've not paid enough attention to this bit it seems (although I probably have read all the pages with relish, aching sides, incredulity...) but if the council have forced Chinny (by their covenant on playing 'football' there)to accept a below market value would a change of use not render them liable to a compensation claim from Balman and his companies? Surely he has lost the opportunity to sell at a commercially sustainable market rate due to the council preferring the HNW bid and then moving the goalposts?

Undoubtedly they are covered in some way but wouldn't it be fun to see Chinny appearing without that scarf in pursuit of his money :D

200 copies x £4 = £800.

So only enough to buy 80% of 1 share...

If (IF) they all sell.

There at again - this guy was given the books to 'put towards a good cause'. How can PFC possibly claim to be a good cause?

Begging?

That's an odd way for a debt-free, well-managed club to behave. :scared:

I do get the feeling that there will be a missed payroll or annoyed unpaid supplier story around the corner in the next few months.

But at least pompey now have a good motivational manager in place who will get the best out of the players he has....

Connolly on the squad set up at Oxford -

They are very bubbly, really good atmosphere, a lot of men who are treated like adults who are trusted to go and perform on the pitch.

They might just make enough with the postage set at £2.50 to scrape one 'share' together.

Nottarf was doomed from the day they were caught buying the FA Cup.

I disagree, they had plenty of opportunities to rescue themselves. They should have cut thier costs earlier, they should not have tried to stay in the prem at any cost, or buy a 4-1 win at SMS.

They pinned their hopes on buyers who had shady history, they chose an administrator known for wringing every penny out of clubs, they let the land go, they tossed aside their academy and youth players, they toured the USA. And bought journeymen rather than used a youth team.

They also hurt the community breaking promises to pay local businesses and of course stole from charities. They also chose to buy players they couldn't afford rather than pay their bills for local training facilities. They blew their parachute payments on gambling to be promoted back to the prem and unaffordable contracts.

All these decisions were AFTER their first first high court visit for a mere 12? Million.

The only things that were before the FA cup win were the Peter Storie and Harry Redknap contracts for big players.

How desperate they are for a grand is really comical. All that effort from the supporters and it will just pay a couple of days wages for one of the overpaid ballet dancers they have on the pitch. Why bother...

Saturday could be interesting - every team below them in the league (granted there aren't not that many) all have winnable home fixtures this weekend, whereas the few have a tricky looking away fixture - keep those fingers crossed and they could be in the drop zone pretty soon!

Its almost as if this latest rally for new shares is to protect something......something like a 50% fan ownership perhaps??????

Another dollop of cash from the HNW's and the percentages will change again..... will they be the largest bestest part fan owned club in the world.....

Keep up Gemmel. Everyone knows that being a part fan owned club is the way forward. Fan owned is so last year!

I believe many of their fans could be described as 'part fans'.
