holepuncture Posted 21 August, 2013 Share Posted 21 August, 2013 http://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/news/article/appear-in-pompeys-team-photo-1004892.aspx In fairness (in light of the footymad comments!), that would be a pretty special present for a youngster... although eating a heavily controlled and nutritional meal might not be as fun as a burger and chips! My favourite part of the article: All this for just £125 (including VAT)! It always amuses me how they state in clear terms the VAT element, when selling products to the general public, who always pay VAT as standard. Its almost as if HMRC have told them they have to declare everything in no uncertain terms... that or the novelty of this newly discovered VAT business is yet to wear off. That must be the first time in about 100 years, through approx five insolvency events, that pompey have actually paid a debt in full. Just like the underwater casino - it's an astonishing development! Congratulations to pompey fans everywhere, today you can be proud of your club. Whatever next, sticking to a sustainable budget? Or accepting that bigtime football has sailed off into the sunset and you've been left on the dock? One step at a time... By the way, that season ticket income was the working capital for the next few months, so good luck with the overheads and the repayment to the property developer. But today isn't a time for cheap shots, it should be a day for congratulations on meeting the minimum requirement of a proper trading company for the first time in at least a decade. It's like they are a real business. Amazing.

Saint Lindford Posted 23 August, 2013 Share Posted 23 August, 2013 Skates exploiting people who are on Job Seekers Allowance As for Portsmouth... "The club, which is now owned by its fans, told its local paper last month that it had 35 people working six and a half hours a day, amounting to a total of 3,000 hours of "painting and maintenance and general cleaning". If the jobseekers refused they would have their benefits stripped." http://www.boycottworkfare.org/?p=2913 Boycott Workfare can reveal some of them are using workfare to avoid paying staff at all. Portsmouth FC, which went into administration following relegation, bankruptcy and debts of millions, is now owned by the fans in the shape of the Portsmouth Supporters Trust. Ironically one of its sponsors is ‘Jobsite.co.uk‘. The club is open about its use of workfare through the Mandatory Work Activity (MWA) scheme, telling a local paper: “So far there have been 35 people working here over the past six weeks .They’re contracted to do 6.5 hours a day and since they’ve been here, for the past six weeks they’ve done more than 3,000 hours of painting and maintenance and general cleaning. It’s incredible. Some of the painting we would do every year, but we’re painting things that haven’t seen a lick of paint in maybe 25 years” The general up keep and maintenance of the club is done by people forced to work for free under threat of losing their barely subsistence benefits for a minimum of 3 months, and up to 3 years. Turns out the self-proclaimed ‘community club’ are more than happy to exploit the local unemployed community by using them to do jobs – without wages. By doing workfare at Portsmouth FC, the unemployed are effectively being used to pay off the club’s debts.
holepuncture Posted 23 August, 2013 Share Posted 23 August, 2013 Skates exploiting people who are on Job Seekers Allowance http://www.boycottworkfare.org/?p=2913 In the past the would run up huge PAYE an NI bills, then simply not bother to pay them, (inc all the VAT too) HMRC valued the tax write offs at £37m IIRC. Now, in the new era of transparency, they openly boast that they dont even bother to pay people a wage, as they have jumped on the free slave labour bandwagon. In fairness they are no different to the likes of poundland who who are also exploiting vulnerable people. Its a pretty poor state of affairs as these poor chumps are supposed to be getting work experience and skills so they can hopefully obtain some meaningful paid work going forward. As with poundland just getting free shelf stackers, the skates are using these poor souls to do cleaning and painting some walls, that is not beneficial to the individuals and is nothing more than a cost saving exercise and exploitation by the skates.. Give people some rewarding tasks and train people to do things, work with the groundsmen, the media dept, finance office.. not trying to pump the fat out of the f*cking pipes! community club my a*se

FloridaMarlin Posted 23 August, 2013 Share Posted 23 August, 2013 Possibly tangental to this thread, but confirmation that whenever and wherever there is something crooked in football, The Septic Isle is lurking in the background somewhere. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/england/10260721/Sven-Goran-Eriksson-I-hate-only-one-person-on-earth-the-man-who-cost-me-10-million.html Halfway down the story - "Eriksson claimed that his money was lost on a range of negligent investments including a residential and leisure development of 92 flats in Southsea, Hampshire." This wouldn't be the same Savoy Buildings development that 'Arry was involved in, would it? There is a marked similarity in the number of flats. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/politics/harry-redknapp-loses-bid-to-ditch-cheap-homes-in-southsea-seafront-development-1-2805955 It couldn't be, could it, that there is a link between Redknapp attempting to get shot of a property development he couldn't get planning permission for and Sven being fleeced in a markedly similar development, also consisting of 92 flats in Southsea? rallyboy Posted 23 August, 2013 Share Posted 23 August, 2013 even by obsessive Nutjob standards that is a VERY good spot - it has to be the same development. Do we now have a personal financial link between Arry and other influential people in football? Could there have been any 'unusual' transfer activity between Arry and people with whom he held joint investments? Surely not...no room for mischief there. Back to the present - Guy needs to speak to his boss, they seem to be working to different business plans. ‘The budget is not set. If there is a player and the board think it is possible and if we would like to do it then there is a possibility. ‘But it is not set in concrete that there is money there so you can go and spend it. And I thought the boy from Bury said they weren't budging on wages for anyone. This is easily explained by the septic few's adept grasp of Doublethink: "The power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them... To tell deliberate lies while genuinely believing in them, to forget any fact that has become inconvenient, and then, when it becomes necessary again, to draw it back from oblivion for just as long as it is needed, to deny the existence of objective reality and all the while to take account of the reality which one denies – all this is indispensably necessary. Even in using the word doublethink it is necessary to exercise doublethink. For by using the word one admits that one is tampering with reality; by a fresh act of doublethink one erases this knowledge; and so on indefinitely, with the lie always one leap ahead of the truth." - Orwell, George (1949). Just how have they managed to do that? They can't be making any money! Not what I was told. A contact whose other half is a Portsmouth councillor reckons they've coughed up £415,000. Some councillors are seething, others sensing their vote going south, are advising caution and already making noises about easing the repayment, up to and including a write-off. Be interesting to see which version is thrust more firmly into the public domain for consumption. Also told that one member of the Trust board was approached at a dinner in London last week by a lawyer offering to oversee their next administration. Cheeky punt, or has he heard something?
