Can't see the point of expansion at the moment as they were bound to get a full house in the first match anyway (Oxford have sold out the away end too!) owing to the 'feelgood factor' etc..

Sensible business people would surely let things settle and take a mean average after say, 3 to 6 months, rather than have a kneejerk reaction to what is (probably) an exceptional set of circumstances !

I really will wet my pants if they lose their first 3 or 4 matches :)

depends on how much the work will cost. If it is not too much they might get an instant return on their investment.

Apparently one of the issues is with a stairwell in one of the stands. The compromise is to reduce the capacity until the stairwell gets redesigned and rebuilt. I have a feeling that won't be cheap ;)

Sell out!

Trying to create more space?

The ground is full, or it isn't, make up your mind.

18,200 is a great effort, but let's not pretend that they haven't in the past few days just reduced the capacity to the exact number sold, and are calling it a sell-out!

If we are struggling to sell the last 1,000 at SMS just close off a block and we'll call it capacity.

Or perhaps we don't bother spouting off in the media about little victories.

I don't think Saints and their amazing flexible attendance announcements from the Championship season have anything to be smug about on the "making numbers up for PR purposes" front. Remember the freaky growing crowd which was one short of the attendance record, announced as a new record, and then mysterious became one more than the record ? And all that with empty seats in the ground ? Still, it's not like we've ever closed parts of the gr... never mind. :D

Not sure if its been mentioned (can't be arsed to look) but they are going uber happy-clappy recently.

First this Bird song

Then the Bird DANCE!!

Now they want ticker tape and cards to hold up at games.

To think how much stick they gave us for the "gay wave". They're taking it to a new level.

But it's okay, they're setting the standard for how fans and football should be....if you believe their own hype as much as they do.

As someone who was at Fratton in 1992 when the whole of the two ends of their ground started "hilariously" waving at each other during a match against Millwall, they equally have NO grounds for calling the Lallana wave "gay".

Missed that 1st time around - hysterical, I wonder how many bought it?

Well I can think of at least one, our ex-resident skate who left a year or two ago with his tail between his legs.

Dave Kitson who, lest we forget, was P*mpey through and through, seems now to have let his Pompey Dream die:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23085801

Oxford have signed free agent and former Sheffield United striker Dave Kitson on a two-year contract.

The 33-year-old scored 12 times in 37 games for the Blades last campaign as they missed out on promotion to the Championship via the play-offs.

And after being released this summer, the ex-Reading, Stoke and Portsmouth forward will join the U's on 1 July.

"I had a number of clubs interested but the ambition and set-up here is excellent," he told the Oxford website.

"It is a good club with a good manager and a very good squad.

"Oxford is the only League Two club that I considered because at this stage in my career I am looking to be part of a successful promotion campaign.

Perhaps he knows something they don't :)

McInnes was on 5 Live last night.

In fairness he seemed reasonably sensible and stated that they wouldn't sign anyone they couldn't afford.... Just happy to be existing etc.. Oh, and the business plan is robust (lest we forget).

However, he did say two things which I think are best described as, well, lies:

1) "we are debt free" - er, what? Do CVA creditors, Robinson, council know that?!

2) "the PST has three members on the board, reflecting our majority 57% shareholding" - well you may have three members on the board but how can that "reflect" a majority of the shares when it's not in fact a majority of the board?

So despite the potential for actually running the club prudently they just can't let go of some of the Portsmyths.

another portsmyth that there about to break the league 2 attendance record on saturday, considering league two has only existed since 2005 its hardly groundbreaking, the record for the 4th division is 37000 odd but don't let the facts get in the way of a good story

http://www.chichester.co.uk/sport/football/pompey-latest/record-set-to-fall-at-fratton-on-saturday-1-5339993

if they can get 18k plus for a L2 game just imagine how many they could get in L1 ........ohh

Oh I don't know. How much does it cost to process an invoice and fend off a few calls trying to collect on it?

safety issues after an inspection from portsmouth city council has seen a reduction in the capacity of the grand, old lady that is pompey’s home to 18,200.

just stuck a fiver at 66/1 for the to get relegated.

Got a great chance, when they have run out of money by the end of September , all the players eff-off and they end up roaming the streets press-ganging tramps to play for them

I can only find 50/1. Where did you get 66?

it's ridiculous to think that they will be out of money by the end of September.

They have millions pledged, record-breaking sellout attendances, Parachute Payments to come, and a robust business plan put together by a top group of experienced executives.

My guess is January.

So 350 fans havent paid the rest of their pledge,

Sorry to be a pedant, but mathematics and the sceptic isle really are strangers....

The Pompey Supporters’ Trust chairman confirmed 350 fans who pledged to the scheme have yet to pay the additional £900 required to purchase a share.

However, they have not asked for their initial £100 payments back, either.

If they were to convert their pledges, an additional £350,000 would be made available to the Trust.

NO IT WOULDN'T.

350 X £900 is £315000, NOT £350,000

A small point, but you wouldn't want them falling into debt for the want of a few basic sums would you? Who knows where that could end?

The whole amount is only made available once they have converted the pledge so Erm yes it would.

Sadly (and thankfully) nobody in the media cares enough to fact check this ****e and they know it. Why not tell a few porkies if nobody is actually going to correct you?

Ten new faces arrived during the summer, with many turning down better deals elsewhere.

Whittingham said: ‘I think we’ve been very lucky as a club and management team.

There are players with us who could have better financial rewards elsewhere.

New summer but same old b0ll0cks!

How many times have we heard this and then the accounts have eventually proved it to be all lies.

Remember how signings weren't costing anything, living off squirrels in tents, and how pompey had the lowest wagebill in the division?!

Lies.

Why start a new era with the same templates for press releases?

I see no transparency.

I think Coventry fans are starting to rival us in the longest thread about Portsmouth stakes, although it's only reached 1210 posts.

http://www.skybluestalk.co.uk/threads/14897-Portsmouth-what-on-earth

I see Pompey are signing players again - five or six so far this month. Is that because they have no squad or are they beginning the cycle over again?

And now on POL, Coventry are being bated as scummmahhhhs who know nothing about football

Coventry can try but they'll never be "nutjobs" about us like the scummers like to call themselves.

Let's say that again. They actually like to call themselves "nutjobs". What a bunch of nerdy twáts

I have to say Cov fans are growing on me by the minute.

Well, I can understand why. They are being crucified why them down the road are up to the same old tricks. It would be better for football if they became extinct.

he continues not to get it which makes it funnier!

I wonder what his friend at the club, who he sees socially every couple of weeks or so, makes if it? Would be interesting to know as EVERYTHING that his friend told Ho came to pass. Honest.

Would he have been turfed out when the PST were brought into power, or perhaps he's one that can easily switch sides and put the welcome mat out?

@officialpompey my hopes for Pompey in 2013/14 are for security, stability and investment in youth #OxfordProg

I'm a bit concerned about that. My name isn't exactly common and I dread the idea of someone thinking that I'm a Skate.

@Lord_Palmerston: #ccfc fans keep going but lesson from Pompey is that you have to mix cunning and militancy in with diplomacy. Keep up heat on authorities.

Not so small. That difference is three times their stadium maintenance budget.

I think it might be 35x... the maintenance budget was scarily small.

Parachute payments don't last for ever. Or maybe they do, for the Cheats? :uhoh:

Yup, they can go down in Pompey Takeover Saga folklore with the likes of Avram Grant, Steve Cotterill, Mustapha Dumbuya, and Corporate Ho

Will be interesting to see how they go tomorrow with all the sickening bull**** around biggest fan based club in the history of ever etc....

The difference this year is they appear to have a team of players nobody else wants, as opposed to a bunch of mercenaries that they outbid other teams for. I think they'll be mid-table fodder this year, still 66-1 was far too good value not to get on.

I agree with you there, they will have all the talk about we have got "so" many "loyal" supporters and all that rubbish. I believe their players signed on free transfers were flops at there old Championship or League 1 clubs so I can't see them lighting up League 2
