Hi Neil - so, how's the journalist career going? Still doing lunchtime webchats for that local publication or have you moved up in the world these days?

If you can get them out of League Two you will forever be a part of history.

Such lofty ambition #smalltime

...and nice to see they've added a new line to the script for new/potential signings to read out.

BTW, did he say what end of the table when he mentioned "out of League Two"?

Hello Neil. Time for some actual journalism rather than being a mouth piece for the trust? Mike Hall? Was his job advertised...or yet more jobs for the boys? How about these: Mike Hall's son will be a matchday host in the VIP lounges next season...While Mick Williams's nephew is working in the club shop...were these jobs advertised? Nepotism FC? Will this abuse of power be investigated by The News?

Get a grip? When this all goes pear shaped (not next season as I believe Pompey are far too big for L2 and will attract decent enough players to get promoted) - but when we're languishing in L1 after 2 years...missing out on players because of a pittance of a wage budget...filling the staff with friends of the board...getting more and more deluded emails from Mike "I've had such a busy week" Hall...merging the coaching staff (a physio for an assistant manager?!) ...when the gloss has worn off this brave new adventure and reality of football sets in. I'll return, and say "I told you so" and you'll wish we snapped off the hands of a rich investor while we were still an attractive prospect...this sunshine state, 'local' reporting is ridiculous. Are we a second class city? It seems we are if we accept this nonsense

That is pretty shocking even for champagne mick and his merry(, very merry) hangers on. Let me guess, champagne iain will be placing his child/nephew as head of alcohol procurement?

Fair play for sorting their children out by using their new found influence to secure them employment, but if I were a skate or trust pledgee, I would be extremely concerned... are these people market-leaders/qualified/ambitious/proven/track-record/business developers etc...

or are they just blagging it due to their old mans clout?

The9s (mega exciting) thread on the main board RE:ST packaging, shows our Chairman promising to deliver the best, to have the very best players and staff, the best in their fields who are employed by the club to deliver the very highest standards.

Then down in portsea

hall calls mick: “ello moosh, nice long lunch in the victory suite with iain?”

mick: “yes mate (hic), not bad mate”

hall: “mick, my lad is out of work, what can you sort out?”

mick: “what is he good at, another engagement manager lol?”

hall: “not much really, but ive had enough of him laying abaat all day”

mick: “(hic) leave it with me mate, il get him a nice little numer, let me know how much you want him to be paid”

Scrounger call NC: “Nicola...”

NC: “No”

You can't beat shiny cardboard.

Only teasing about the packaging, although I do think you are starting to give MLG a run for his money on this forum, you are a nutjob on a number of levels, I like it!

It was more the reference to NC's statement on employing the very best in their field of work at Saints, which sits in quite stunning contrast to the boys club down the road where it is all about blagging your way on to the pledgees payroll slush fund based on who your old man is and how many posts he has made on a footy forum!

Frankly I'm offended that the JCL MLG ever managed to overtake me in the pendantry stakes, I knew it was inevitable when I eased up on the grammar fascism in 2006. It's a slippery slope.

I didn't miss your main point. As it happens I've just asked my aunt about a job at a League 2 club, so no further comment. :D

So 4,300 #Pompey season tickets sold after 3 weeks. 40 per cent up on this time last year. 30 per cent new buyers. http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/pompey-fans-in-a-rush-for-season-tickets-1-5151261 …

Wasn't 'this time last year' one of those points in their history where they weren't even certain if there would even be a club for the forthcoming season? As a result I believe they had an all time record low season ticket take up. Not really much of an achievement to beat that to be fair!

Also, 3 weeks in to the selling period, I suspect the majority of people looking to buy a season ticket will have done so now. I'd be surprised if they manage to flog 7k ST's - perhaps someone can point me in the direction of their bizniz plan to see how many short of the projection this will be - I seem to recall 11k ST's being bandied around as a break even figure....

Suffice to say they are being sensible in getting someone with legal knowledge into the post, as exploiting the grey areas still pervades all elements of the club.

Fear not; the business plan is robust. In fact, it is so robust it could easily withstand another re-write.

Pompey CEO Mark Catlin believes the three-year contract to become the Blues’ official partner to dispose of and recycle waste from all the club’s facilities, including Fratton Park and the training ground, is very good news.

They're finally getting rid of that bit of waste also known as Fratton Park?

Didn't know they currently had a training ground to recycle though...

It needs to be cheap, the maintenence budget for fratton park is less than you would spend on a local corner shop!

This is the outcome so far, from this catlin fella hanging out in curry houses seven days a week 'talking to businesses'... hes managed to find someone to empty his bins on the cheap.

I wonder if this firm is able to get all that fat out of those pipes too?

LOL

Anyone fancy a cheap day out...?

http://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/LatestNews/news/Pompey-v-Charlton-Pay-What-You-Like-4419.aspx

Pompey are delighted to announce that the pre-season friendly against Charlton on Saturday, July 20 will be a ‘pay what you like’ game.

Fans will pay a minimum of £1 to watch the Fratton fixture – which kicks-off at 3pm – but can donate whatever they want above that sum to watch the new-look Blues take on Championship opposition.

Please note that supporters paying by credit/debit card can only pay £1 or increments of £5 (£5, £10, £15, etc).

With Fans Day fun and the launch of our historic new away strip also planned for the same day, it’s sure to be an occasion no fan will want to miss.

Pompey engagement manager Micah Hall: “The idea has been incredibly well received with many fans saying they will pay £10 or £15 – that is far more than we were planning to charge.

“The idea actually came from within the existing team, with Tom Clark and Steve Jones creating and promoting it.

“It just goes to show the talent and creativity that was already here and now that people have the licence to innovate, they have seized the initiative to drive the club forward.”

They're not going Salmon pink again are they!?

Well let's hope so. That was their original first team colour kit and they do like a bit of tradition down there. And their nickname back in those days was 'The Shrimps'. Never has a name been more appropriate.

All sounds a bit fishy, but true story.

had an interesting chat with a Celtic fan the other day.

When I mentioned Rangers he said 'they don't exist anymore!'

His attitude is that there is some new club calling itself Rangers, but they have been going one year, and had never won a trophy before last season.

Some people might say that is harsh but I think there's a few people on here who would agree.

Any business that wants to drop historical debt does exactly that - drops the debt and the history.

I look forward to a fundraising friendly between Rangers 2013 and pompey 2013 - a chance for the little Glasgow minnow to find out why fortress fatpipes is the envy of world football with real vocal support and an atmosphere the Scots can only dream of.

And pompey can dream of perhaps one day matching Rangers by putting a 4th tier championship trophy in their empty cabinet.

or go one step further and agree to pay £135M and not pay a penny.

But spend the rest of your life boasting about how great you are and how much you enjoyed it.

This sums it up nicely for me.
