Pompey Takeover Saga

So despite the £8m (or so) parachute payments being received over the next 10 months, they're actually paying football creditors off over the next 4 years, presumably hoping they can meet those obligations from future revenue once they've used the PPs to pay Chinny, PKF/BDO and the PCC and use any left over to build a team for next season. Even if they avoid another administration over the next few years I'm going to bet we'll see at least one transfer embargo applied by the FL after they miss a scheduled payment to the FCs - assuming they remain part of the Football League...

Apart from the bickering & in-fighting, their fans demanding to know why they do not have a competitive team, empty boasts about being the best (at everything), needing to re-negotiate their re-negotiated compromise agreements with ex-players, senseless spin from the News, complaints that it is unfair to impose the points penalty next season, more shifting of blame (that was the old Co), what do we have to look forward to anymore ?

FROTFPMSFL :D

I think I made out four people throwing a handful of ripped up paper - probably nobhead neil's senseless ravings - into the air.

Hardly the 'ticker tape parade' that the snooze is claiming! Just goes to show how small time they've become :D

A Brentford fan's take on their game yesterday, over on the Pompey site:

Did you Pompey fans think you were loud yesterday? Wow! Couldn't hear a thing all game mate. Admittedly, the Griffin Park was was not as loud as usual. The place was nervous, nail biting the whole game. If we lost, automatic promotion would have been over! And, you thought your fans were hard done by. Our stewards are totally useless. Pompey fans were all over the ground and Old Bill and Stewards did not chuck them out. " brentford fans were chucked out for attempting ask them were they pompey fans??. As for the Pitch invasion, you just showed what scum you are. At first, everyone though it was because of the Clubs secured future. But why just running over to the home ends and start causing agro outside? Anyway, enjoy league 2 and I hope you do a Luton ya inbred gypgys!!!

:lol::lol::lol:

ticker tape welcome!

It reminded me of Buenos Aires in 1978, check it on youtube if too young, it's very similar.

Did I miss the club being bought out of administration?

as the team played for the first time since the club was bought by its supporters.

When did that happen?

Btw I suggest everyone reads that article. It is without doubt the funniest thing I have read all year.

I see what you mean.

It is brilliant.

The paragraph structure needs to be seen to be believed. Clearly GCSE english is not required to write for Pompey Pravda.

I wonder who threatened to break Factless's legs.

Is he making a bid to be one of the super heroes?

Mind you. There is one frightening thought that comes out of the article.

Factless has a young family. The mind boggles.

I wonder if Factless could sit in on the class when Junior is taught about grammar?

His comparisons are brilliant, like a GCSE essay.

The poor fellow has lost the plot, if he ever knew what it was in the first place.

It's a football club Rodney, you plonker.

I already posted that.

I think I predicted a few weeks ago that the nauseating and over the top rhetoric was something to look forward to. As if by magic...

Blimey....that's astonishing....I counted at least 2 paragraphs containing MORE than one sentence in that piece...

And as for this line: "That is what defeating Portpin meant to these people, these doers and not cyber whingers."

Defeating Portpin? And there was me thinking they had come to an out of court AGREEment with Portpin instead of "defeating" them in the court case. (The clue is there in the word if you look hard enough Mr Allen)

Yes, I know....that's minor detail in the factless land of Portsmouth 'journalism'...

I think you will find they have vanquished portpin with their shield of fan ownership(ish)(not) and their sword of undisclosed out of court settlement.

What is the reference to Micah Hall being sectioned 12 times? Didn't recall a national newspaper claiming this, and google doesn't support #factlessallen.

Poor Micah, fancy someone writing something that isn't true.

The irony of course is that by writing it he has actually publicised the rumour that seemingly no one had heard of before.

Could it be that the national press got it wrong and it was actually 12 members of the PDT were sectioned for buying such a liability?

The following acts are offences under the Football (Offences) Act 1991 (as amended):

11.1 The throwing of any object within the Ground without lawful authority or excuse.

11.2 The chanting of anything of an indecent or racialist nature.

11.3 The entry onto the playing area or any adjacent area to which spectators are

not generally admitted without lawful authority or excuse.

Conviction may result in a Banning Order being made.

Despite local reports and street parties for the dim, the club is still in administration.

Fact - or so I thought...

Pompey fans celebrated in style at Brentford as the team played for the first time since the club was bought by its supporters.

The News, Saturday.

It was the first game since last week’s news at the High Court that the Trust WILL be gaining control of the club.

The News, Monday.

Is that an intentional step back towards the reality, or an example of sloppy reporting?

Ditto the Mirror.

What a pointless piece that was.

Especially as it tried for no reason to link Thatcherism with pompey - totally disregrading the fact that government policy on football in her time was influenced by people who randomly ran onto pitches and threatened violence.

That's the only link I can see.

Far from congratulating the few I think she'd have been banging them up and fencing them in.

Though in the new era of transparency I see that the Trust is saying that the pitch invasion was both of a friendly celebratory nature, and was in response to provocation.

Which is it? Make your mind up.

An observer might suggest that it looks like a fanbase out of control, and who may in the future have access to the boardroom.

But no deal has been done yet, and some media need reminding.
