Pompey Takeover Saga

I was annoyed at the time but now I barely remember it. It feels like a lifetime ago. It's really the only thing they can do to feel better about themselves, look into the past...

And, of course, it was the clinging onto relatively high wage earners such as Norris that made their financial predicament even worse come the start of this season. Carlsberg don't do shortsighted football fans, but if they did...

yep happy David Norris day, perhaps one day he might even get paid for his day.

Was that the goal that stopped the scummahs going up?

Give it a year or two and that myth will become reality.

It was the goal that didn't change our league position nor halt their relegation, just gave the few the opportunity to have a show of strength on Southsea Common, all 15 of them.

Norris, caught between hero status and the role of dirty judas villain who wouldn't leave - or is he just another man who will never get paid?

Ditto Sol Campbell and Kanu - thanks for the cup....

What's that, you want your wages?

Go f@ck yourselves!

So. A rip-roaring NIL -NIL draw on their 115th anniversary against the almighty Stevenage. What a day for the club, what a day for such an incredible entity, that entertains so many, and gives hope to so few.

Skates, I salute you.

Which will no doubt be spun by factlessallen as 'A rip-roaring NIL -NIL VICTORY' because they got a point at home against a top-15-L1 club

Respect :D

@pn_neil_allen: The High Court case & procedure explained. Hopefully makes things a bit clearer for #Pompey fans! (Saturday's column)

http://t.co/PoKjnL1cxJ

It would be downright folly and recklessly irresponsible to predict what the outcome of next week’s Rolls Building meeting will be.

So we will probably get a prediction from him fairly soon then.

and..

Then came the Football League’s stipulation that, in terms of awarding League membership, no other bidders would be considered at that late stage and it was either the Trust or nothing.

Not quite true is it Mr Allen. I believe the statement for the league is as follows:

Therefore, The League has informed the Administrator that it will not currently consider transferring the Club's share in The Football League to a new bidder. This means that in the event that the PST bid does not succeed and Portsmouth do not exit administration before the end of the current playing season, the Club will lose its membership of The Football League.

The two key parts that leave the door open to another result besides trust or bust are highlighted:

The preference for the trust is 'currently' and so the league can change its mind.

The loss of membership is dependent on both the PST bid failing and pompey not exiting administration. So if the PST bid failing but the club comes out of admin with another party it would not result in the loss of membership.

Such was the importance of the goal I had to look it up on google.

And I was there are the match.

Didn't know the relevance either.

Thought it might have been something to to with him leaving or working in the ticket office, but didn't realise they were creaming themselves over a draw LMFAO.

Things must be bad if you have to stoop that low for your enjoyment.

Expect the bitterness to multiply, just as it did through the decades following 1961 when they effectively disappeared off our radar (feck me, at certain points we had more of a rivalry with Brighton!).

I know it's The Sun but does the penultimate paragraph in this article clarify the situation with regards Chainrai's right to appeal the decision? They appear to be saying he does, which is surely what he'll do if it gets to that point?

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/4877554/Portsmouth-fans-in-court-D-day.html

If PKF win the High Court case, due to be heard on Wednesday or Thursday, Portpin will have to go to the Court of Appeal to ask for the right to challenge the decision.

Another twist in the tale would be PKF losing the case, but PST buying the club without Fratton Park and trying to find somewhere else to play.

And the comment under the article picks up nicely on the continued media love in with a potential "fan owned" club...

Please stop this nonsense of calling it a supporters owned club. They have only raised a part of the money, the rest is from a few individual wealthy people of whom at least one is a property developer.

They have no right to appeal. They have a right to go to the Court of Appeal to ask if they can appeal the decision but they would have to have valid grounds for an appeal in order for it to be accepted.

The last over-developed minnow, now returning to be a small fish in a puddle.

If Chinny has to justify an appeal I think he could produce quite a few reasons now that several groups have seemingly offered more money.

The commercial value of the land is higher than if it just has a large rickety shed on it.

The fact that a property developer has bought next door and is desperate to get his hands on it speaks volumes, and scuppers the Trust claim that it's not much use to anyone.

One of the other problems the Trust has is that they can't see beyond a football club.

They just value the land as a ground, and are understandably obsessed with a Golden Share, something you don't need if your plan is to build a mix of retail and residential.

A judge will look at the big picture but just focus on the value and the question, he won't be interested in all the spin.

Unless of course he's from the same Lodge that surely must have gently helped them and Harry walk away from previous court cases! :o

I can't believe how courts have let them off in the past, so nothing will suprise me this week.

'Tis sad to relate, but skate cannot skate,

In the sea, they lie on the bottom.

They lie quite still,

In waters chill,

Until a fishermans got'em."

( Spike Milligan )

My favourite Goon from forever.....this and his consignment to Room 101 of the sh*thole almost warrant a statue outside St Mary's.

I guess for fisherman read grim reaper, Chinny, judge, PDT....they're in such a 'no win' scenario it barely matters :D WTFILN

Stepping back from the rivalry for a moment, hats off to this guy. That's impressive.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-22057337

£7k in 7-8 months - not that impressive. Still, seems he had a nice time.

7 months, ~210 days, so that averages out at about 11 miles per day.

Considering that the average walking speed is 4mph, that's 3 hours of walking per day!!

No it is not impressive given the time frame and 92 bucket raising opportunities, however I feel the skate should be commended for his effort and endeavour in raising awareness and funds for charity.

He has done more for charity in the name of his club, than his club have managed in about five years... in fact their fund raising efforts probably result in a deficit, seeing as the money raised was diverted to player expenditure, leaving just staffing costs and resourcing costs behind!

"I can promise you this club will not fold whether we win or lose. We are here to defend a piece of national heritage."

What happened to trust or bust, and we're not buying the club without the ground.

Just another group of misleading liers spouting bull****.

How is that any different to any of the previous owners then???

Silly me. Why should they try honesty when they can issue idle threat after idle threat to force players, creditors and charities to forego the money they're owed.

What a w*nker the new guy is. He should fit right in.

It should have been plan A... they could have saved many many millions in wages and administrator fees had they listened to nutjobs so so so long ago...

Plan C - steal the blokes £7k charity stroll cash, stroll down to the local casino, pull up a chair next to mr Chanrai and see hos it goes.

Mansfield Town left 96 empty seats as a mark of remembrance to the number of Liverpool fans who lost their life in the Hillsborough disaster. Which was a fantastic gesture.

Poopey are planning something similar in future weeks, to commemorate everyone who died of the bubonic plague

Quite. Seems it's not trust or bust after all.

funny how they've been selling the ludicrous property-developing dream under the sales slogan of Trust or Bust and at this late stage they now admit that it's b0ll0x.

Nice touch, just a few days before heading into court. :?

Anything else been made up that we should know about?

The projections?

The business plan?

The promises to the council?

The £3M in Escrow?

The agreements with football creditors?

The assurances to investors?
