Pompey Takeover Saga

It's difficult to know what the exact debt is now, with or without CVA1.

The last few parachute payments have at least in part gone to pay off some of the football creditors which were included in the quoted figures, so to some degree the debt will have been reduced.

Tip of the iceberg I know

Birch must be walking a tightrope, they are almost trading illegally whilst in administration

you are right Richmond but Chinny is obviously still standing firm and willing to do ANYTHING to get his money.

I was surprised when pompey first drew a line between players and other staff when it came to the football creditor rule.

Surely anyone who is employed fulltime by the football club in any capacity should be a football creditor?

And if this isn't the case and it is strictly players and clubs, how did Lampitt stake his claim under that ruling?

Either way, pompey should have been down to a skeleton staff two years ago so it just shows how they have just continued to trade insolvently, ignore the debt, and reality itself.

As for Birch, he's not as funny as AA, and his autograph isn't worth as much, but he seems just as efficient when it comes to rebuilding a football club.

He has been a bargain - to put it into context, the bill that Trev has run up since October 1st is equivalent to the money we spent on Rickie Lambert.:o

Then again they spent his transfer fee just on architects' drawings and development plans for the Harbourdome so that they could host the World Cup Final.

But that wasn't a mad waste of money, no! - it also incorporated an underwater casino, The Maradona Hopsitality Lounge, the world's only underwater Mr Clive factory outlet, HMS Warrior as the dugouts, a seabed Saab dealership, Avram's Member Only Club, and the exclusive VIP monkfish/haddock-petting aquarium.

Suddenly Nicola looks sane....briefly.

This is the issue that Chainrai raised at the last court hearing. He has held a floating charge over all the club's assets since Feb 2011 - before he sold to CSI (see link to Mike Hall's piece below)

Somehow or other PKF had left it out of their calculations - despite us and the Trust knowing about it for some time.

Intresing snippet from one of their boards regarding this floating charge that Chanrai has.... posted by sj maskell, so fairly close to the action. Could pkf really have made such a mistake

(Edit- yes I know technically the BBC is right as the debt from admin1 has been largely written off but it's a morally accurate figure of how much they've diddled businesses, charities and the taxpayer out of)

Oh dear, here we go again. Sorry trousers but that ain't right.

There was an agreement to write off the debt (I think it was £80-odd million) in exchange for 20%. Until that 20% is paid (even if it is further diluted by 98%) then the original debt has not been written off. It has been frozen, but that's not the same thing is it?

Meanwhile , the latest re-tweet from the man who accuses Saints fans of being obsessed with Pompey...

@pn_neil_allen: RT @NabilHassan79: #SaintsFC stewards told in pre-game briefing not to comment if asked by fans what they think about Nigel Adkins sacking.

That said, I guess Mr Allen is highly qualified in the subject of propaganda...

@pn_neil_allen: RT @officialpompey: Football League figures show that #Pompey are the most followed League One club on Twitter - thanks for your support

30% of which are those obsessed nutjobs on the saintsweb forum... ;)

This reminds me of an alleged comment made regarding an ineffective junior Army officer:

"His men would follow him anywhere, but only out of morbid curiosity."

24,000 ish followers vs officialSaints with over 76,000. Something must be wrong there. There are supposed to be the biggest and bestest. south Coast club.

Every one likes a good train wreck

Like rubber-knecking a car crash

Two words: morbid curiosity.

That explained, I strongly suspect, a large fraction of their Twitteratti.

However, this never-ending train wreck on the Island of Dr Morreau continues to reward connoisseurs with rich and seemingly inexhaustible seams of comedy gold: I for one can hardly wait for the next side-splitting instalment

This is a classic. So bad it's good.

I especially like the bit at about 18 mins in when the bloke seriously says

"Who's left? X, Y, Z and Colin the Masseur".

"Kev the Kitman...who is very respected in his field...how much more can he take?"

WTFILN.

@pn_neil_allen: Council still prepared to loan money to help #Pompey Trust bid. Interesting story by @pn_Rory_McKeown http://t.co/FQplojje

But despite an ongoing court case over Fratton Park’s valuation, and the latest round of wage cuts, city council leader Gerald Vernon-Jackson said public cash would not be at risk if the loan was handed to the trust.

Cllr Vernon-Jackson told The News: ‘We have to make a judgment about whether public money would be at risk. On one hand the time that the trust would have the loan is less – from February to August – and we know there’s £4m of additional parachute payments coming in over and above what we knew about when the trust made their bid to the council.

‘At the moment the advice is the council’s money would not be further at risk so that we would be able to make the loan.’

So, on one hand you've got Neil Allen saying in a recent Webchat: "Forget the parachute payments, they've gone - already allocated to football creditors" and on the other hand you've got the council saying: "it's ok, our loan is protected by the arrival of the parachute payments"

Perhaps someone ought to send an email to the council gently remind them of their own terms and conditions when they originally agreed to the loan...

No point as that is the lot who believed that pimpey cause 300 million pounds to enter the local area every year.

Ignores the fact that that massive support fails to fill Notarf Krap ......(mind you I expect the revenue generated by Twitter compensates somewhat)

SiP makes a valid point, there is little risk for the council loan as they know from their own extensive research that they could set up a burger van in Frogmore road and make £13M at every home game.

But those recent postponements have done them no favours.

The water table has been drenched by £13M of undrunk beer and Bovril, and another £13M of hot dogs have gone to landfill, it must look like the Sutton Hoo over there - but rather than wood and armour it's mainly a mound of pig's b0ll0x, eyelids and stale rolls.

Tony Robinson might want to steer clear of that dig.

Yeah, the council loan will be fine, and the Trust will certainly meet all those conditions laid out about no other bids, PP going straight to council etc.

If BC had any sense he'd have registered as a player for Pompey while owning it the first time, paid himself 1 million pounds a month and become a secured football creditor.

Would've stoped all this faffing about with the charge on FP!.

Hats off to this guy.... Chinny you have missed trick (This was off the news site)

Interesting

I notice in the flood of articles about our reaction to the events of Friday a single word keeps coming up from other fans in the Comments section to describe us.

The phew can live with their bestest tags.

I kind of like the fact that we are now being called

Classy

Not bad for a bunch of Left Wing Voting Dock Workers

So the trust really hasn't got any money to buy the ground, and Robinson is definitely not going to buy it for them, after all they said at the time of the last court delay. That Ashley Brown bloke could teach Goebbels a few things about propaganda!

It's a promising start. On day one, they will be in debt to the council, it debt to HNW's, in debt to the football creditors, in debt to the CVA, will probably need to take on more debt to have some working capital and all those fans who borrowed money from that credit union to buy their shares will be in.....debt.

Which is all quite strange seeing as they were looking for a clean slate.
