Pompey Takeover Saga

Our last away game at Walsall was a Tuesday night. We battered them but lost 1-0. Remember the massive over reaction on here after the game as those at the match said it was 'one of those days' (it was) and others who just saw the result and wrote off any chance we had of automatic promotion.

.

I remember Alpine nearly having a cardiac arrest :)

what's that?

10 losses in their last 13 league games?

They do have their own unique way of getting back at the league.. "In your face with your 10 point deduction league, we would have been relegated without it, ha!"

@Average_Skate: At least the fans are doing us proud ! I'd like to see the Facking Scummers take 400 to Wallsall! FACKING SCUMMERS! #pompey

I bet you would, never mind you can go to Aldershot next year if they get relegated you still might get there.

I note on Twitter that their fans have downgraded themselves from the bestest to some of the best.

That looks like a slippery slope - otherwise known as a cliff, perhaps reality is biting.

Oh no it's not! - they're still banging on about the illegal cup runs and pretending they were real.

Saddos.

They must be obsessed.

As for us, we're just jealous - yeah, that'll be it...

That's when he absolutely wrote off promotion from league 1, despite saints still being favourites and looking odds on. Some people can't handle the simple fact that sometimes you'll lose matches however good you are. But most learn from mistakes, and at least enjoy it. After the 50th writing off of saints that season, they were promoted, and following writing them off in September and every other month, they were promoted again. Still no joy, still no learning, still thinks he's right for making generic non-points.

That's why this thread has lasted so long, it's a distraction from the main forum and the impossibility of a decent vaguely calm, rational discussion. Ironically because he pops up getting abusive so he can accuse people of being abusive in response and not allowing a discussion. Irony sadly lost on him.

Must say, I liked the challenge of anti-pompey supporting when they had a decent relegation scrap last year. This is just such a lost cause it's hard to take much joy in the individual games. Except swindon of course.

Nice easy relegation is fine by me, i'm on for £115 when they go down.

But you are right - the supporters club (a few quid to get in) did run out of food and they had about 2 people serving and all the food on a few trays and kept having to cook more. Then once you finally got your food after 45mins of queuing you'd turn around to see there wasn't a spare seat anywhere to be able to eat your food and instead had to eat standing up for yet more ballache.

Didn't it spawn the famous "Playoffs at best" thread from our yodelling stalwart?

Oh dear.

And a Creditor's meeting on Tuesday to boot. Expect the bigger creditors to be asking Mr.Birch why he threw several hundred grand of their money down the toilet in a futile expedition to the High Court on behalf of a bunch of tyre kickers.

It had gone too quiet - I was beginning to think that the gift had finally stopped giving!

Calm down, calm down....the intrepid Portsmouth News had this story covered last summer...

@pn_neil_allen: Prospect of #Pompey leaving Eastleigh and returning to the city to save money was reported on back in July. http://t.co/51Tj8igP

I do remember that one trousers, but I must have missed the bit where they decided to ignore all the options and train at FP instead.

486 of the bestest there. Top, top turnout :adore:

Over on the UI Nick Illingsworth is saying the head count was only 254?

So when yer average skate looks like this, I make the real total blue-few around 127.

Rob Harris ‏@RobHarris

Redknapp on Ben Haim, who has signed for QPR until end of season: "He’s not here for the money or anything like that"

Dilemma...is he hero or villain? Secret agent or skate b'stard? Cheer or boo when he comes to SMS with 'onest 'arry in March?

@bigadamsport: I still think #pompey can make a good fist of staying up if they keep Connolly & Benson together up front - promising partnership at Walsall

In a team which managed 3 shots on target in 90 minutes, that is 'promising' !

Perhaps they may live to regret hounding out their top scorer ?

@pn_neil_allen: RT @pn_steve_wilson: #Pompey could have bought their Eastleigh training ground a few years ago. The decision was taken to buy Noe Pamarot instead. #foresight

Yeah....because all Pompey fans and local media outlets were clamouring for the club to invest in infrastructure rather than players back in those days...

They didn't hound him out...they "reluctantly had to let him go"....source: Sky Sports last night...come on, keep up with the spin!

The Creditors meeting is an intresting one. If the court case goes in the favour of pkf, then the dynamics of the creditors changes completely.

Chanrai would almost have more power. - Actually more power is not the right words, he would be in a position to block a cva

Indeed. I've felt all along it would be far poor amusing if the PDT / PKF win the court case....

"When PFC was last relegated to the third tier it took us seven seasons to return to our 'default' level (ie the one where we've spent most seasons) which is the second tier. That would seem to be a realistic timeframe to work towards this time around, although football does tend to concertina ups and downs more these days.

I disagree with you about players. PFC will be the biggest opportunity many decent lower league players will have in their lives. Pompey will be the chance to play in, probably, League 2 at a club which won the FA Cup five years ago and gets gates of 10,000+.

In League 2, only Bradford or arguably Plymouth, get remotely close to offering the 'football' career opportunity we present. Whether we will be able to afford to fight off the likes of, say , bankrolled Fleetwood to sign those players is another matter.

By all means talks our prospects down, but I'd beware the self-fulfilling prophecy..."

Posted by Colin Farmery on one of their message boards. They continue to still really think they are something - the only reason they are attractive now is because of the stupid wages that they continue to pay. I am actually thinking that the PST taking over would be good for this thread and allow many more years of enjoyment.

They say the memory goes when you get older. Well, I'm about to disprove this - saw this article and thought 'Hmmmm Vantis, now that rings a bell'.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2013/jan/04/hmrc-flickr-gallery-tax-criminals (some way down the article).

And sure enough - it's linked to the very phew down the road:

"Portsmouth Football Club Vantis was appointed in February 2010 by the owners and the board of Portsmouth Football Club to prepare a statement of financial affairs, detailing the assets and liabilities of the club"

from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vantis

EVERYTHING they touch is tainted, isn't it :D
