Appy's off again, with loaning out players so he can get others in.

What a bright sunny morning. The birds are singing, the autumn colours are stunning and we are close to a new era at Fratton Park. Our second string gave a lesson to Gosport last night. Not a lot to brag about, but a win is a win is a win. Oh yes, and those down the M27 got a lesson from a Leeds team that included two of our old favourite players from last season, one of which is Pompey born and bred. You can only imagine the pleasure that must have given JP. Days just don't get better than this............. ENJOY. Oh and their hoped for saviour, Harry the traitor, seems to being offered a pot of gold at Blackburn. Yes, enjoy the day!

Good to see they're maintaining the usual levels of straw clutching

In-demand Michael Appleton reflected on Burnley’s new managerial appointment and admitted: Thank goodness for that.
There was never an official approach made for the Pompey manager from the Championship club.

So, the "in-demand" Appletion was "never approached"....

Keep it up Mr Allen. You never fail to brighten up my day

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/appleton-encouraged-by-positive-trust-talks-1-4424830

Michael Appleton doesn’t believe Pompey will come out of administration before Christmas. But the Blues boss has described talks with leading figures of the Pompey Supporters’ Trust as ‘positive’ following a meeting last week.

During the two-hour meeting, Pompey’s manager was reassured he will be given the Trust’s proposed £2.65m playing budget.

He was also told it would be a minimum of six weeks before the ownership situation would be settled.

‘It is still early days and the first conversation I’ve had with them. I’m sure once one or two things have been settled in the courts we can sit down again.

‘They have explained how there are going to be discussions between them and Portpin over the ground, the car park and other matters.

‘I understand there is a process going to happen. The likelihood is it’s probably going to be a minimum of six weeks before that is done.

‘If I am being honest, I can’t see us being out of administration before Christmas.

Inevitably, the playing budget remains a crucial factor for Appleton’s plans.

Portpin had offered £4.5m in May when it appeared they were in the box seat to return – only to slash that to £1.5m come August.

But Appleton believes the Trust will come good on their pledge of £2.65m.

He added: ‘They didn’t give me the budget in writing but I didn’t expect them to do that.

‘They gave the idea things certainly wouldn’t be any worse than they are at the minute, so that was positive.

‘The impression I get is they are still very confident they can come up with the original budget they talked about.’

Target should be end of November. Portpin will probably drag out sale of the ground through the court although this risks getting less! The trust also need to get the FL to drop the -10 points issue this was regarding Portpin failing on the previous CVA with portpin now out the picture it would be wrong to deduct the 10 points from the Trust consortium.

Fair play to the PST; they've miracled £6M out of nowhere. Impressive effort; that wouldn't give me any concerns whatsoever about the accuracy of their financial predictions....

Do they really not understand to that degree?

I'm shocked (really!)

How can anyone be that thick / deluded / just plain ignorant

At the end of the day, this WILL happen. The FL are GUTLESS

Portsmouth will then get a Universal Diploma for being the Longest Insolvency "Business" in Histoy.r For that fact alone, the Football League should charge THEMSELVES for bringing the game into disrepute.

Therefore, as a condition of membership, any new company established to apply for ownership of Portsmouth Football Club's share in The Football League will be required to:

1. Accept a deduction of 10 points in the 2012/13 season;

That of course begs the question 'what happens if they don't find a new owner during the 2012/2013 season??

DAN THOMPSON bagged an 18-minute hat-trick against Gosport Borough on Tuesday night – by the end of the match he had netted four times. The teenager was the star performer in the Pompey development group’s 4-1 victory at Privett Park.

And all in front of Blues boss Michael Appleton.

Not that Thompson can expect such a feat to provide the crowbar for breaking into the first-team squad.

The sold-out signs have long been hung out. No room at the inn, no vacancies, don’t apply within.

Such are Football League stipulations for a club in administration, Pompey squad numbers are at the maximum.

Appleton is allowed to register 20 players for first-team duty – and 20 players is what he has.

It means, for the likes of Thompson and other promising youngsters, the route into the squad is currently barred.

Granted, they can train with the seniors during the week, yet they remain unavailable for match-day selection.

It’s a rule which was enforced after the Capital One Cup visit to Plymouth back in August. On that occasion, Thompson was among nine debutants in senior football

Such was the situation at the club at the time with no other players signed on, special dispensation was granted.

Days later, the 20-man squad rule was enforced by the Football League for the League One opener against Bournemouth.

And ever since Thompson & Co have played only in reserve friendlies.

It’s a frustrating scenario for everyone, according to development group boss Guy Whittingham

.

He said: ‘Unfortunately, the rules mean the young lads can’t get in the first-team squad at the minute.

‘There’s Dan, Jed Wallace and one or two of the others that might have featured on the bench, especially when we didn’t have the numbers. But with the position we are in we cannot do that.

I'm lost for words.... Poor old Pompey can't play their youngsters because they're too busy filling the team with ex-Premier League and Championship pros. You really couldn't make this **** up.

And this one will tug at your heart strings. Poor old Pompey....

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/pompey-face-selection-headache-1-4428431

Pompey are facing a selection headache ahead of their FA Cup clash with Notts County.Michael Appleton is currently waiting to discover whether Carl Dickinson will be allowed to feature on Saturday.

They have already lost the services of loanees Scott Allan and Mikkel Andersen.

The duo’s parent clubs have stepped in to stop them becoming cup-tied.

In addition, Darel Russell remains unavailable as he continues to recover from a hamstring injury.

Should Dickinson also be denied permission, that would leave Appleton with a squad of just 16 for the first-round fixture.

Forgeting the written off debt of 160 odd mil for a second .... it's their inability to even understand the simple concept of playing the cheapest squad you can under their circumstances that is mind boggling and makes them look like ignorant moronic ****s.... add to that their belief it's a right to be competitive 'for the sake of the itegrity of the league' and shaking ones head in bewilderment is all one can do - although, I dont expect those of such feeble brains as Allen to 'get' the irony in that statement; 'integrity of the competition' - to spell it out for him as I am sure he pops over to have a look and get some information - the only way pompey could show respect for the integriyty of the competition is to field the cheapest possible side (youth) whilst no one from the last CVA has been paid, and whilst 58mil is still outstanding from the current administration. Poor (financially) clubs tend not to be competitive - its a FACT of any division, and why some clubs never get promoted because they CANT AFFORD TO BE MORE COMPETITIVE you fricken ignorant ****s! What is there not to understand?

Rant over, but the ignorance of their fans, manager and administrator to all this fuelled by the arselicking media is beyond any rational commprehension... suggestiing that being more competitive will attract more 'potential bidders' and thus potentially offer more to creditors has proven to be **** in the wind, and was speculative at best.... so why continue with such a policy now when they should be saving every penny to pay off debt is beyond any rational person's mind.

So, hot on the heels of an article saying there's no space for the youngsters you get an article singing the praises of their latest Premier League loanee....

sorry I've not been around, I've been in demand.

When I say in demand I mean that there were several massive jobs up for grabs and I was headhunted for all of them. :)

That's the sort of headhunting where they interview lots of other people, and you cover your shattered pride by making out that you didn't want the job that you were not offered.

It's all part of the hero/villain thing - keep up.

Or perhaps I've just been stranded using a steam-driven laptop that is reliant on the ability of wheezy hamsters to run the internet connection while my computer is purged of Avram Grant jokes.

A situation that doesn't lend itself to lengthy rants - but fear not Nutjobs, should I not be offered that monthly deal extension on POL, I shall be back.

Meanwhile I'm standing in for Ho on their site while he's at the Kidderminster toy fair, calling myself Frattoniser.....

So, I hear that Cortese has interviewed Redknapp, the training ground has been scrapped, and Lambert has already signed for Everton on a free because Nige didn't sign the contract properly - and Ramirez has got rabies, it's all been hushed up.

The taxman hasn't been paid by Saints since 2009 and the pompey Trust has already agreed terms with Chanrai who has taken £500K for the ground.

So there.

OK, I hear what you say, but :-

"Will be required" is NOT the same as "has been deducted" etc

I'm not a lawyer, but I am told that "will be required" CAN be challenged

How can it be challenged? The FL is, to all intents and purposes, a private members club, part of acceptance into any club is that you accept their terms and conditions. Don't accept, can't join!!

This is just plain wrong. They can play the youngsters, but if they did they would then form part of a first team squad and they cannot sign anyone else if you have a minimum of 20 in your squad. Therefore they can play the entire youth team in the cup, and then back to the journeymen they already have, but they won't be able to dump a journeyman and replace him with a slightly better one.

It seems that the snooze continues to peddle half truths and blame everyone of their issues on the FL - it's actually Poopey's decision to not play the kids and no-one elses.

Because until the latest CVA is actually in action (once they're taken over) the previous CVA hasn't yet failed, according to the FL.

poor plucky pompey will battle on, despite being barely able to muster a squad of underpaid strangers, they'll put up a heroic fight in the face of adversity, roared on by the famous blue army.

While the loyal manager gives 110% - despite being wanted by clubs up and down the land.

Meanwhile the finishing touches are being added to the greatest fan buyout of all time - with no property developers involved whatsoever.

Tis the stuff of fairytales.

I thought on numerous times in the past they'd named only half a bench because they wanted to look hard done by.

They didn't give a toss about the kids not getting through the system then

Now it's the FL fault for blocking the youngsters route to the top.

Allen, you really are a prize tw*t (and that's with an A not an I)

So they blame the 20-man squad rule imposed upon them by the FL (even though wikipedia lists their squad as having 23 players; presumably loan players don't count in the maths).

What would happen if they filled their 20-man squad with purchases, and then decided they wanted to play the kids (who are already on the books). Would they really not be allowed to do this?

Or, as it seems more likely, would it be true that they'd be allowed to do it, but if one of their players ended up leaving, they wouldn't be allowed to replace him with an incoming transfer?
