rallyboy Posted 22 September, 2012 Share Posted 22 September, 2012 they must be drifting into the territory of getting relegated on merit and carrying over the minus 10 to start next season. If there is a next season. Must have have been like a cup final for little Notts County, having a massive club come to town. No doubt the intimidating travelling blue army barracked Bart for 90mins and frightened the poor fella into a clean sheet. You'd hope there might be a bit of reality biting down east, that cup final is getting more expensive with every week that goes by - just need some acceptance of the reality and we are halfway towards having some sympathy with the few* At least there was one winner today - Trev trousered another £9K. *not really. Chez Posted 22 September, 2012 Share Posted 22 September, 2012 3-0 Are they bottom yet?the minus 10 points would leave them 11 points from safety, having played a game more. Maybe the PST budget will allow them to spend a million on the next Lambert to see them out of trouble and challenging for promotion the season after. For me, seeing them lose week in week out is the payback much requested on here. Hope they survive so it can continue. Great days.

Pamplemousse Posted 22 September, 2012 Share Posted 22 September, 2012 Some comments from POL tonight The starting XI is the envy of 80% of this league if u want to blame someone blame birch who has done more harm then good and barely been better then AA So...who'd swap our situation tonight with Birmingham's? I was never into the 'wanting to be competitive' business - we have a club, we are looking more likely to come out of admin than liquidated...if we're very lucky we might even be rid of Chanscum! On paper, at the start of the season, I was guilty of thinking this team would do well. Problem is, I forgot to look at the other 23 pieces of paper containing squads we have to play against. A few of the few are slowly starting to see some sense... back in the good old days It didn't matter about the results , when we played away if we weren't beaten that was classed as a bonus , we were in div 4 for a reason, our levels of expectation were a lot lower , the problem now is that we have eaten from the top table and our levels of expectation have been raised and I now feel that we need to lower them . Whoever takes over, my opinion is that things are going to get worse before they get better. Time to rip it up and start again. Yes, a Phoenix club would start in non-league. But I'd rather start with a clean slate and build towards something over the next five years than fight against the inevitable, and have the same cyclical conversations. We need to rebuild and we need a clean slate! That will only come under the trust in league2 The basement league is a platform to rebuild IMHO. If Portpin get the yes this week then PST should kick start the phoenix route in preperation for next season Oh, and Hi Frattoniser

JackFrost Posted 22 September, 2012 Share Posted 22 September, 2012 I've actually been in Nottingham the last couple of days to see an ex-Superintendent I worked under years ago. He's been a Notts County ST holder since he retired and he got me a ticket for today's game. I did spend half the game asking his son to check his android alien thing for a Saints-Villa score update but saw most of it. If anyone on here is still worried that Pompey might get promoted this year, relax. They did try, but they were absolutely AWFUL. In their best period they kept County at bay in midfield and any attack they had resorted in a long range shot. They created one half decent chance in the entire match. County didn't play well and gave it away a lot but they easily had enough. Based on that I'd be amazed if Pompey stayed up, 10 point deduction or not. The match was like a Conference South side trying to stifle a League 1 side in the FA cup. Speaking of the FA Cup, I am PRAYING we draw them this season after that. You can kick on from there and achieve Nicola's dream. As for my dream, I only want to see PST take control. I'd happily accept years and years of Div 4 to get control of the club. Despite what you may say, if the conditions are right we can sustain it. If Portpin take over, despite having a ST I will not set foot in FP again. But if they don't and PST can claim our club back, it would be my proudest moment as a Pompey fan by far. The nutjobs on here are no less forgiving than when you departed. Have you been mistakenly banned from POL? I hear this `jaded by time in the Prem' a lot. Is it the prices or the uncompetitiveness and repetitiveness of it all? I dunno really, I enjoy the exchanges. It can get a bit much sometimes and the bile chucked down from a position of superiority seems a bit OTT and cheap/easy, but then I remember when the roles were reversed I wanted Saints to go out of business, I wasn't any better than the most malicious on here, I never vocalised it, but this is your board and I wouldn't of done it, some weird politeness or summink, I dunno? It Didn't stop me from wishing the demise of something much loved by friends and even a large proportion of my family, so carry on filling yer boots, I get it. I also believe 4 or 5 years down the line you'll find an edge missing, but you could of told me that at the time of your near demise and I wouldn't of given a **** so, meh. Premiership, hmm. Ok I'm trying to be honest, loved it at first, loved and hated the Derbies. Saints got relegated, loved it, Pompey start signing 'Superstars', loved it, started obsessing over who we would get next? Reading every bit of media linking us to this and that. Prices started escalating and started to feel that it wasn't worth it and that it was a rip off. My least favourite season was the year we finished 8th, I felt the crowd became spoilt and the atmosphere DEFINATELY declined, the FA cup win was good, but not as good as you would expect. I quite enjoyed the Season we got relegated, it was exciting and the FA cup appearance against Chelsea really good. I can honestly say at this point I was not bothered about being out the Prem. It became cheaper and more games on Saturday, I was so fed up of stupid kick-off times and days. I enjoyed the Championship, but then that was the level I had grown up supporting Pompey at. For that reason I don't believe most Saints fans will become dissallusioned with the prem, it's what many will of grown up with but personally i think the best position to be in is like a West Brom, one year a relegation battle, survive, next year a battle that you lose, then a promotion season, to my mind thats so exciting! I do think the premier league somehow sucks the soul out of a fan base, but I don't think it's been scientifically proven? That is bull and you know it....... flies to s h i t and all Nope, I won't. I can't watch the carcass being raped by the Hong Kong dog ****er. Already told my wife, not sure if she'll follow suit, but I will not go whilst Portpin are at the helm. But to many of your lot the excesses are now positively expected. This is how the Trust will fail, there will be elements who will not be able to understand that a self run Portsmouth Football Club will not be able to simply stride up the leagues and back into the top flight. Nope, I won't. I can't watch the carcass being raped by the Hong Kong dog ****er. Already told my wife, not sure if she'll follow suit, but I will not go whilst Portpin are at the helm. Sorry Pugwash, obviously I was not aware of your experiences. Honestly, this is not what I want. I'd be happy to get my team back into a position where our rivalry would be relevant again, but no excesses, it really didn't suit us. OK, now you have my sympathy for what it's worth. At least I know you understand how I feel when I say I still want your crappy rotten carcass of a footy club to die.
