aintforever Posted 15 January, 2010 Share Posted 15 January, 2010 You can guarantee that Gaydamak had first dibs on that Sky TV money if pompey had received it. That's the beauty with having some puppet Arabs appearing to own club, if he was still officially owner of the club there is no way he could pocket all 7mill and not pay the debts. if the club received the cash then the Arabs would just say there is nothing they could do about it, the conditions on the loan meant it had to go to him, and all Gaydamak would be doing is calling in a debt - just like all the others. Luckily the PL are not completely stupid.

GenevaSaint Posted 15 January, 2010 Share Posted 15 January, 2010 From the BBC.... But despite this, Storrie says morale at the club is still quite high. "It has affected the staff more than anything as their salary levels are much, much different to that of professional players. They tend to get hit hard with bank charges because of delayed payments and we try and help out as much as possible." Surely Peter, if you're calling for the embargo to be lifted you can pay the full bank charges for the normal staff screwed over by salary payment issues. Jimmy_D Posted 15 January, 2010 Share Posted 15 January, 2010 Storrie now claiming on SSN that Pompey instructed the EPL to with-hold the Sky money pay other clubs and not the other way round! Really? REALLY? Why bother?! This way it appears that it was Pompey's choice. They knew it'd go this way, so they instructed them to pay the other clubs so that they could claim it was their choice. Silly move though, the HMRC might not look too kindly on Pompey choosing themselves to pay off football creditors ahead of tax. A provision already being imposed by the football league on TV revenue would be different, but now that Pompey are claiming it was their choice... If, as one of the other papers states, they are trying to get the rule on VAT on transfers overturned then it would be amazing if such a major decision (I think as well as transfers it would set a precedent for other more general transaction that also attract VAT) was taken in their favour based on 1 day in court? My business charges VAT on transfer fees of all IT contractors, as you rightly say this has massive implications on all sorts of other industries. I cannot believe that no other club or bean counter has challenged this thus far. As Phil says, this is about cash flow and stalling the winding up petition.
