Pompey Takeover Saga

You can guarantee that Gaydamak had first dibs on that Sky TV money if pompey had received it.

That's the beauty with having some puppet Arabs appearing to own club, if he was still officially owner of the club there is no way he could pocket all 7mill and not pay the debts.

if the club received the cash then the Arabs would just say there is nothing they could do about it, the conditions on the loan meant it had to go to him, and all Gaydamak would be doing is calling in a debt - just like all the others. Luckily the PL are not completely stupid.

So, a timeline to summarise a few forthcoming key dates:

Storrie's hearing - 20 January

PFC Winding-Up hearing - 10 February

Redknapp in court - 11 February

Mandaric in Court - 11 February

I think this is correct. Anything to add? Has Gaydamak's loan repayment deadline passed?

You forgot the positive news that they might help get the world air guitar record this weekend:)

+ looked for a date for the loan repayment but can't find a specific date only articles mentioning the end of this month so I would say that deadline is still to come.

Well some of their fans are hopeful of a takeover. I was just looking at their 606 page. Not sure how true this rumour is but I suppose it could happen.

www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A61927158

I really hope not though, as it would ruin all our fun. I guess the only person who could save them now is a person with more money than sense.

This would need to take effect before the end of the transfer window for any hope to spring.

I would also trust that the ruler of a COUNTRY wouldn't be so stupid as to pour funds into a bottomless pit.

I think that rumour did the rounds a few days back and was rather laughed at by our Dubai correspondent.

It was indeed!

Not least because Dubai has a lack of money due to the collapse of Dubai world and are being helped out by their Emirates neighbours.

I cant understand why there has been no pompey transfer gossip. that gardening leave must have been at Kew lol

I could have sworn that we were told by the Skate in the know ,that it was not a money laundering operation but a development opportunity, with houses shops and hotels. The foundations were being dug and bulldozers in.

I doubt we will be able to get over all that egg on our faces.

From the BBC....

But despite this, Storrie says morale at the club is still quite high.

"It has affected the staff more than anything as their salary levels are much, much different to that of professional players. They tend to get hit hard with bank charges because of delayed payments and we try and help out as much as possible."

Surely Peter, if you're calling for the embargo to be lifted you can pay the full bank charges for the normal staff screwed over by salary payment issues.

I've been called up for jury service for the week starting 8th Feb. Can I ask to take it up in London instead. I promise to be un-biased and objective. :^o

Why? The Labour govt in this country have been doing that for years!

Storrie now claiming on SSN that Pompey instructed the EPL to with-hold the Sky money pay other clubs and not the other way round!

Really? REALLY? Why bother?!

I was going to say 'you couldn't make it up', but quite patently, he does...!!!

This way it appears that it was Pompey's choice. They knew it'd go this way, so they instructed them to pay the other clubs so that they could claim it was their choice.

Silly move though, the HMRC might not look too kindly on Pompey choosing themselves to pay off football creditors ahead of tax. A provision already being imposed by the football league on TV revenue would be different, but now that Pompey are claiming it was their choice...

How likely is it that they will actually win?

If, as one of the other papers states, they are trying to get the rule on VAT on transfers overturned then it would be amazing if such a major decision (I think as well as transfers it would set a precedent for other more general transaction that also attract VAT) was taken in their favour based on 1 day in court?

Does anyone ever read the Portsmouth News Forum - it's the highlight of my day. Some of the comments on there must be being dictated to a care assistant or nurse. Among other claims in the last day or two -

Transfer embargo is an illegal restriction of trade

It's all a Premier League conspiracy because they don't like Poopey

How can James leave if there is a transfer embargo in place

If Spuds still owe them future instalments on transfers they should be made to pay up now

They have less debt than any other PL team

Why should they have to pay for Williamson if he's never played for them

Sheik Maktoum is waiting in the wings

And Younes Kaboul is worth £14mill

But my favourite quote from a Poopey fan was actually on the 606 site:

it hurts tp say this but i we dont get that lited and im sorry but isn't it thursday not friday and they av clearly said on other sites and reliable news sources we would know by riday so i wait and see 2mrrow wiv hope and i it is not lited then were going to be saying hello to those scummers down the road a bit more shorter then we would o liked sorry to who this oends but if i av learnt anything rom supporting the team i love POMPEY its to speak wats on my mind.

I think it's in English. We may have our share of eccentrics/nutters on this site but there is usually at least a reasonable grasp of our native language & reality amongst posters

Despite what the News say, the protest is still on.

Please be there at 1:15 pm (Milton Park) and take loads of question marks!

This was one of the comments from the above article, I can imagine all 20 of them stood around

holding placards like this [!]

Erm do you mean a ? rather than that ! ???:D

I also note that Storyteller says that "They TRY", not that they actually did help with the Bank charges.

I bet the staff are looking for new jobs, poor souls.

My business charges VAT on transfer fees of all IT contractors, as you rightly say this has massive implications on all sorts of other industries.

I cannot believe that no other club or bean counter has challenged this thus far. As Phil says, this is about cash flow and stalling the winding up petition.

I am 100% that the only case they may have will be Barry's.
