Pompey Takeover Saga

How to raise money for financially stricken football clubs.

1) Have the best fans in the world.

2) Sell 25,000 Season Tickets despite having been relegated from PL to Div3

3) Place another 10,000 Season Tickets on sale and have a queue that stretches around the ground which started forming at 5:30am

So that's how the cheating Jocks did it

And the cheating skates have 1,600 pledges and fans demanding a refund of their ST money

Spectacular

This has got to be one of us nutjobs:

Unfortunately I won't be putting up an extra £900. Hopefully I'll get the rest back soon (minus my £2.50) as I'm a bit skint and could do with it for Reading Festival ticket. The fact that the Administrator has used all the parachute money means no left over to sign players and get promoted. I love Pompey and will go and see them still, but I don't want to lose loads of money on a league 1 team. I was hoping for promotion then lucky play off win and sell my share for profit, no chance of that happening now!"

Something's just occurred to me.

Andronikou was supposed to be Chainrai's puppet when he was administrator. He was definitely Ben Haim's advisor recently. Birch has given Ben Haim a LOT of the money he was due from Chainrai's Parachute Payments, meaning Chainrai didn't get access to that money.

So did Andronikou turn against Chainrai's interests (I guess he's not being employed by him any more?), or did Ben Haim just ignore Andronikou's advice ?

calm down my pretty nutjobs, let's step back for a mo...

Chinny says he's done.

Do we always believe him?

Err no!

He's either going to negotiate even harder, or he can now see no benefit from continuing and has decided to cut his losses.

I have to say that the lack of PPs and his statement do suggest that he's given up trying to keep the diseased beast alive.

So this would leave the door wide open for The Trust to deliver all those grand promises they've been making.

They talk the talk, let's see if they know what their boots are made for.

Their own figures at launch were as follows.

£3M in pledges - surely they will struggle to deliver more than £2M in a hurry?

£1M in the bank re season tickets - to be released slower than Greg Halford doing a crossword.

£1.45M loan to buy a ground for £2.75M - an offer that has been on the table and ignored since June, and loan conditions that make it impossible to get.

Likelihood of Chinny accepting that offer now?

About the same as their former hero manager being able to walk past a drunk woman in a mini-skirt touching her toes behind a Horton Heath skip.

£2M for players who now have agreements totalling £8M+ - ....non-starter.

£850K CVA

£11M in PPs to come - of which they thought they had approx £6M to play with = major shortfall.

So they have a few stumbling blocks, in fact approx 12 million stumbling blocks, and they are all £-shaped, and required asap.

I was amused by Jimmy's suggestion that Chainrai lends them the money - it worked so well last time, and it could be their only option!

Likely scenario?

Trust gets into talks all excited at taking control.....meeting goes great until item 1 - the accounts.

They study the debts, reality finally dawns, they run for the hills.

I hope for the sake of their sanity and house deeds that they do finally realise what we've been shouting at them for fricking years - the figures do not stack up.

While happy to abuse anyone who deserves it, I've never been too smug about doomsday scenarios as they've wiggled out of tight spots in the past and Nutjob parties have had to be cancelled at short notice.

BUT their options for avoiding an imminent grilled bread situation do seem to have narrowed significantly today.

Or was it all just a cunning plan to bring about a liquidation all along?

There's a less dubious statement to the same effect from what actually appears to be a Skate on the News site under the Chainrai article too, so it's not just the tyre-kickers failing to stump up the cash.

Wouldn't it be delightful if the Bestest, who are now their only hope, just folded up their £100s and left them to it, and the Trust had to front up and say "we just don't have the support we need".

Or did something else happen recently which made liquidation a better option for Chainrai, and this situation has been created to facilitate that? Don't ignore Ben Haim's roots and the origin of the business relationship (some call it a dispute) between Chainrai & Gaydamak.

I think it would be best for all concerned if the club folded.

It's never been properly run in my lifetime, a 50 year old tragedy in the making.

Maybe their fans could re-start a new club and this time make sure the sharks stay away.

Out of curiosity where would a new PFC start in the league pyramid?

Salisbury & District League Division 2 looks a bit light next season, they should be able to squeeze into there

I wonder what the FL makes of the latest developments.

My source from last Sunday tells me that at that point they were sitting in their office cowering and praying someone took the problem away for them.

Think they may be in the pub celebrating with Ham & Cheese toasties for lunch around about now

Can anyone please answer this?

If the skates supporters trust don't have the money and can't take over (I know they don't have the money) and the Parachute Payments have already been allocated to past players etc. and Liquidation is the only option, who pays Trevor Birch's fees of £1.8m??

I have a source at Radio Solent who overheard the conversation between BC and the sports reporter this morning.

Not only has BC withdrawn his offer but Portsmouth City council are now trying to get out of lending the trust the agreed loan. However Radio Solent are not allowed to report about it.

The fee will be the first thing deducted from the proceeds of liquidation. Chinny gets the rest.

I believe that Birch would get paid from the revenue that came out of the asset stripping. Although I am not sure tbh.

Well I for one hope, that those down the road can find some way to still exist. I believe they deserve the punishments they've been dished out and tbh some were long overdue, but whatever some of the more hard nosed on here say, I think Saints will be slightly diminished if we lose our arch enemies completely.

And look at Portpin's past record. Small creditors not paid, season ticket hikes, players sold and money taken out of the club. Plus exorbitant interest on loans (as stated in court). Make your own mind up on their credibility and how much they care for the welfare of this club

Ok, now they start talking about small creditors not being paid etc., but only to portray Chinny as the villain. Sorry chaps, if you think that is wrong, then the club must redeem those actions going forward instead of just shrugging their shoulders and say: "that was Chinny's fault, now let's concentrate on a promotion warchest for the PST"...

I laughed at this obvious wind up until I saw this:

Jordan :

The fact that there have been no triallists to leave the club is amazing for me

Jordan :

But it shows there's confidence on their part that there will be something in the offing for them for the weekend - be that a non contract deal or something month to month in the short term [/QUote]
