I've been living in a box for the past couple of months - Pompey do have a -10 to start League 1 with right?

I remember seeing it on Sky Sports but its not applied on any league tables on BBC or w/e - did they appeal it or something?

The -10 only applies when the club is bought out of administration. Whilst the club remains in administration the -10 is 'suspended'.

I'd be interested if "pfcbutton" could give us rough figures on how much each of these fraudsters and spivs "robbed".

The only people to have actually taken more money out of PFC than they put in are the players, agents, Storrie, Harry and Mad Milan. He doesn't think that Sacha, Chanrai, Al-Faraj(!), Bin-Tramp, Antonov, Dubov et al actually took money* out of Pompey, does he? :?

* Other than a little bit of freshly laundered cash, of course.

Earlier today, I was thinking the very same think albeit from a slightly different angle - the MP (?) claimed that they constituted a whopping £300M a year, but the £150M+ debt they have racked up have primarily gone from taxpayers in general but a healthy portion also from local business. And as you say, the main recipients have been "players, agents, Storrie, Harry and Mad Milan".

That's the bottom line for this club. Over the past years an insane amount of money has been pumped out of their local businesses and into the pockets of "high net worth individuals" to make sure that the city had a competitive club.

Now you're in for a very different understanding of competitiveness, chaps. Enjoy. We've been there...

I read that for a second as the Victor Meldrew Bar. Probably more appropriate now as well.

He really is a rock.

They are so lucky to have an insparational motivator like Appy. I can see them pulling together and team spirit and hard work earning them promotion.

This is akin to Churchill's "We will fight them on the beaches" speach.

It would be interesting to know if any local catering companies are dealing with them to provide the sumptuous pre-match buffet.

If my memory serves me correctly, in the previous admin one guy pretty much lost a family catering business built up over 40 years as he was left to scrabble for the crumbs with the rest of the creditors.

Back in the days of the Gregory regime when they went into admin, the list of fleeced companies included a local baker who thought he was on to a good thing when the club ordered 5,000 mince pies to dish out for a Boxing Day game, only for him to find that he was whistling for his money.

Their record with catering and comestibles providers is not good. You would think that word has finally got around and really, any catering concern who deals with them and doesn't get money up front, really deserves everything it gets.

The pre-match sumptuous buffet is likely to consist of taking orders and then nipping out to a burger van on Southsea front.

Pompey prepare to pull plug on Andersen

By Neil Allen

Published on Tuesday 14 August 2012 10:00

Mikkel Andersen is expected to be the first target to be culled as Michael Appleton attempts to cope with his 62.50-per-cent budget cut.

The highly-regarded Reading keeper had agreed to join Pompey on a season-long loan once a takeover had been completed.

That move is now set to be scrapped, with the Blues no longer able to afford his wages.

As it should be imho....

Do you get the impression they're none too keen to announce their travelling squad for tonight ? I mean Gillingham have put up news of who's in the matchday squad for their game at Bristol City, and that includes Tommy Forecast, how can the team the Skates put out be more embarrassing than that ?

Whilst I agree completely with what Claridge says, it's very easy for him to say it now. Did he actually wonder where the money was coming from at the time? Who knows.

But as has been said, I wonder if Neil Allen will be taking notice of Claridge's comments, he's one of their own after all.

Allen is an absolute disgrace to my mind. We criticise or criticised the Echo a while ago but at least they aren't as bad as him.

do you think it would be right to assume the team they are going to put out will be even weaker than the one they played against Salisbury with? since i've put money on it i've just had a bad feeling they'll somehow get a win or take it extra time, will be following with interest tonight.

Jobsite UK ‏@JobsiteUK So pleased to be @officialpompey sponsor for 4th season. Great club, dedicated staff and amazing fans. http://bit.ly/OWyaxb #PUP

It’s great to be working with the club again for a fourth season. As a Portsmouth based employer, we really appreciate the work they do in the local community, making Portsmouth a great place to live and work and we look forward to continuing to support them in their initiatives again this season.

The sponsorship deal includes branding on both the stadium and player shirts, supporting our overall branding activity to ensure Jobsite is one of the best known job boards in the UK.

:D Do they have a department for unemployed players?

A sponsorship deal that means not only do they not have to modify the stands and risk bringing them down in a pile of rust but also they can use last years shirts from the club shop as long as they can find someone to sew on the league 1 badge. One suspects it did not cost jobsite very much at all.

It wouldn't surprise me if Birch actually slipped THEM a few bob from the parachute payments for that very reason, i.e. to offset against the potential expense elsewhere that you mention.

Steve Claridge ‏@ClaridgeSteve

And still they take the pee, bill for administrators "fixing" Pompey, nearly 2 million pounds, another name to add to the list of shame!

I'd like to withdraw my earlier praise of Mr Claridge if that's ok with everyone?

TBF He is only stating what everybody thinsk about Administrators. They are in it to shaft as many people as possible under the guise of getting "the best deals" for creditors and selling a company as a going concern, as long as they make as much money as possible out of the whole sordid business.

Totally agree. My retraction of my love for Claridge is more to do with the timing of his 'astonishment'. It appears he's only just realised how much administrators charge so not sure why he's acting all surprised about it now. Just jumping on the "who can we point the finger at now?" bandwagon IMO.

Oh well, he's still worth a score-draw given his earlier "getting it" comments. :-)

It does take the p!ss how people are brought in to salvage a debt ridden company then just rip them of for millions. My mate worked at another club during their admin and the ****ers were staying in 5 star hotels, claiming expenses all over the place. They are leaches.

Yep, I wasn't 'slating' Claridge for what he said per se, rather how he came across as all surprised that administrators are leeches. As you say, that ought to be common and unsurprising knowledge from the offset. It's the typical "moan about it after the event" approach from our friends down the road.

IMHO of course.

Looks like the Trust is resorting to accepting family members as capital assets in their bid to oust Chanrai, according to this post in the News:

"14/08/2012 6:08 PM BST

LI 125

The Trust have got my brother and my pledge and I hope they get the club one day. To suggest giving the manager a budget of 4m would be nothing short of financial suicide, given the debt that has recently increased."
