Pompey Takeover Saga

Just got back from the match, Great atmosphere, superb away support, Fantastic Pompey performance and cracking game, gives me confidence that Pompey will easily stay up this year. After we slaughter Blunderland, bring on the scummers time to put you all in your place, with the embargo about to be lifted and Shiek Maktoum waiting in the wings things are looking rosy. Good night all!!! (turns off his computer, puts fingers in his ears and goes up to bed........lalalalalalalalalal) ;)

Portsmouth were **** but so were Coventry.

One of the most boring games that is for sure. Is Coleman doing crap then?

was on his way to the sack before their fortunes turned and they have been on a decent little run recently coinciding with goals from Freddie Eastwood.

So in your little world, the transfer embargo is lifted and then what???????

Oh yeah I know .......Lets go and spend another £40M of loan money on some more mediocre s**t and go bust even quicker than we would like on here!

You lot really are dense.

By the way, for a skate you are normally reasoned and bareable, so I think I know your post was tongue in cheek, but there are fish fiddlers like you that actually believe what you have posted to be true ffs.

I understand your post was sarcastic, but there are limits of what we can swallow!!!!!!!

Two dreadful sides desperate for a good cup run. And the luckiest came on top.

Just on ITN News.....pompey player firesale.

They understand that talks are at an advanced stage for the sale and/or loaning of their top players to other prem clubs.

Looks like the last throw of the dice.

Hadn't seen that - I wonder what happened to all the "We don't need to sell" bluster. I reckon they know that the PL won't lift the embargo, so they'll have to sell players to pay off some debts and then (maybe) get it lifted. Even then, they'll have sod all to spend and nothing to pay salaries with, so they'll have a pretty hard job getting any new players in anyway.

Desperate times, desperate measures...

They are expecting bad news from the premier league then. Poor lambs.

The mysterious, hidden men behind Portsmouth.

Faces nobody sees at matches and many suspect might not even exist.

But this IS Ahmed Al-Faraj - and he IS part of the family running the crisis-crippled South Coast club.

Al-Faraj's first-ever interview in Britain.

Oh I do wish I'd met investors who were that naive during my business life.

We didn't know how bad it was (That's what accountants and Google are for)

We didn't know all the problems (It would have taken you 30 seconds to find someone to ASK)

We need to be allowed to compete fairly (No you fecking don't, the REASON that you are in that mess is because for the past 5 or more years YOU CHEATED by spending more money than you had - read Arsene Wenger & Michel Platini's thoughts on the subject, but of course, you probably never heard of them did you)

You couldn't make those sorts of comments up.

How on EARTH were they conned into buying them? Have they never heard the words Due Dilligence?

I mean, I know we have like zero consumer protection legislation in the Middle East in general, but surely they must have heard the words Caveat Empor

Yes, it's that magical £40M again:

It has been a difficult time. But once the fans know what we've done and that Ali has put £40m into this club - including paying £12m to HMRC - while only recouping £13m through revenue, I'm sure they will appreciate us.

No mention there of Jacob's admission that this £40M consists of (a) loans; and (b) income such as gate receipts and so forth - it contains no new money from the owner.

I fully expect to hear that the transfer embargo will be kept in place by the PL. This won't prevent the sale of players, of course, so we can expect plenty of action there too.

And the "recouping £13m" bit is also rather suspicious. That wording implies Al-Faraj has taken that money OUT of the club. So what does that relate to? Is that the total figure for gate receipts, merchandise etc? In which case has he just taken out in £27m of loans (on behalf of the club) whilst taking the £13m of club income out?

Can't wait for all this to unwravel!

Why would a bank (allegedly) be prepared to put in £35 million in August, then six weeks later not give them a penny? I suspect Gaydamak didn't believe they really ever had it which is why he went with the Clown in the first place

I think it is pretty clear that he went with SBT simply because he believed that they had found a foolproof methodolgy to hide the identity of the real owner and money man.

Munto Finance showed it was possible to simply "not exist" but to get approved as a club owner.

Again, the research and effort needed to set up a "shell company" to hide a beneficial owner is simple, remember I posted ages ago about how in the days of leveraged deals even I could have bought Saints with no money (like the glazers/Hicks/Gillet did). My issue was nobody would have believed it was me (it would have been a bank loan)

So part of the mess is that they thought they had hidden the man who wanted to move his (allegedly ill gained) assets away from the jurisdiction of his ex country. My guess is that they'd done it before and thought it was easy. It wasn't.

So my guess is that yes SBT did have the cash. Unfortunately he managed to c8ck up the cover up and the PL quietly wouldn't let him use it.

I think the reference to 'recouping' would be recouping a loan on behalf of someone else, Chanrai perhaps?

Article about Milan's tax problems in the Guardian:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/jan/12/milan-mandaric-clear-name-charges

Interesting in that his main defence is that he avoided paying 10K in tax but that because prosecuting him for it will cost a lot more than that it should not happen....

Mandaric said the figure was closer to "$50,000 which is taxable, which is around £25,000, and 40% of that is £10,000. That is what we're talking about. The cost and expense [of the investigation, which started in April 2007] and all this aggravation and unfairness is far more than £10,000 that someone will have to pay. There is no correlation between the two. I just hope that one of these days someone will wake up and say 'What the hell is going in here?' And I know that will happen because there is no wrongdoing here."

Umm, has he not just admitted that $50K was taxable but he did not pay the tax? Sounds like wrong doing to me. Also by his logic shops might as well put up signs saying "If you shoplift anything under 100 quid it will cost us more to take you to court so please go ahead".
