So, their 22 person squad - without triallists - and with the U-18s (who have their own fixtures) is going to be something like

Eastwood, Da Costa;

Magri, Grant, Butler, Warren, Medway, Whatmough, Triggs;

Colson, Wallace, Maloney, Awford, Branford, Kim, Close, Hartson;

Higgins, D.Thompson, Tarbuck, Horsburgh, Field.

Whoooooooooo the fuuuuuuucking hell are yooooooooooooouuuu...?

Oh, and their U-18s have fixtures on these dates. I suspect they may need to rearrange them all seeing as their first team have fixtures on almost all of those dates plus 14th and 21st...

Skate U-18s

18/08 H Aldershot Lg

25/08 H Gillingham Lg

01/09 H Crawley Lg

08/09 A Bournemouth Lg

Skates

Plymouth Argyle v Pompey 14/08/2012 19:45 Capital One Cup 1

Pompey v Bournemouth 18/08/2012 15:00 League One

Colchester United v Pompey 21/08/2012 19:45 League One

Carlisle United v Pompey 25/08/2012 15:00 League One

Pompey v Oldham Athletic 01/09/2012 15:00 League One

Crawley Town v Pompey 09/09/2012 15:30 League One

On an unrelated note, that last match is meant to be on tv, it'll be tremendous for us to see them get rolled over by Crawley.

@officialpompey: Portsmouth Football Club statement: http://t.co/tKusFsm3 #pompey

Trevor Birch, PKF partner and joint administrator of Portsmouth Football Club, has released the following statement:

“I realise that many supporters are concerned about the size of the squad ahead of the start of the new season.

“I’ve been working with Michael Appleton and the coaches to ensure that we have enough players to start the campaign, regardless of what happens off the pitch over the next few days.

“If a new owner is not in place shortly, then we will use a combination of players from the development squad and players signed on non-contracts [effectively short-term deals].

"We’re also talking to the Football League to see if there’s any additional support that they can give us until the ownership situation is resolved.

“This is not an ideal situation, but we’re doing as much as we can in incredibly difficult circumstances.”

I read it more as "We're also begging the Football League to let us keep our golden share for a while longer, on the offchance that we might get an owner sometime soon"

But I don't speak Skate too well, so it might not be word for word.

They've got the Golden Share with PFC2010, they only risk losing the Golden Share when there's a new owner after admin, so for as long as they're still in admin ( until NEXT pre-season as you're not allowed 2 successive close seasons in the same admin) they are free to compete in the league.

Of course the problem is that PFC2010 can only last for so long losing the amounts they are, and the culling of the high wage earners has come after 3 months of paying wages but not getting any money in.

Honestly, what are they running their 'business' on? fumes? blind hope? goodwill? I thought they'd run out of pretty much everything a while ago, presumably the PPs arrived just in time

Yes and no, IMHO.

I haven't got time to re-read the rules, but from memory what they say is that if a club suffers an insolvency event (admin is an insolvency event) then they automatically get kicked out (=golden share withdrawn). HOWEVER, the league, at it's sole discretion, can allow a club to continue provided that it agrees to some sanctions (principally a points deduction and an embargo, but there might be others).

So during admin they have no automatic right to keep the golden share, but do so at the league's discretion. The league must have serious reservations about letting them start without an owner, and with a "squad" of "pay-as-you-play" wannabees. I genuinely expect the "additional support" to be consent to a postponement (or 2) at most if they don't sort out the ownership this week.

For those betting on Plymouth, they've had a pretty poor squad since their 'fielding the youth team' days of 11 months ago, they got a few players in but nothing to speak of. It may be both teams are utterly incapable of scoring, or utterly incapable of defending. Either way it probably won't be a match of the highest standards, probably make Eastleigh look a better side than either of them.

Or a sack me please quote

Why should Portpin/Chanrai sack him? If he is sacked, he gets compensation (or at least joins the queue with everybody else).

P*ss him off enough and he'll walk, which will cost Portpin £0.

If he does walk he will, of course, immediately be installed in the phew's Pantheon of Heroes.

There, he will take his worthy place alongside other legendary figures who are viewed (through blue-tinted specs) to have Done The Right Thing By The Club.

He will be installed alongside The Hebrew Hercules, The Ticket-dispensing Titan, The Flame-Haired Hector, The Twitter-Bigot and others who share the common denominator of deserting the club.

p****y - the only club where ship-jumping rats are heroes.

It will give Portpin another reason along with TB fees....unless you sack Appy we won't take over etc etc

Appy wants out and can only save face by being sacked.

I really don't think we're going to be too bothered about the league cup even if it were 10-0. The league however if not sorted by saturday........could be a different matter..ooer missus

Dear Mr Football League

Please can we sign a Mr Messi from Spain, wages will not be a problem because local businesses will fund the deal as they offer us extended credit with no repayment date.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19244057

Portsmouth boss Michael Appleton has called the potential new owners of the club "unprofessional" after being told his transfer budget has been slashed.

Appleton was believed to have been promised a budget of £4m for new player acquisitions in May, but that figure has now changed to around £1.5m.

"It's slightly unprofessional," Appleton told BBC Radio Solent.

"I'm not pleased about it but what can I do about it? I can't do anything about it but get on with it." Portsmouth are currently in administration with Balram Chainrai in the process of taking control of the League One club.

On Friday, Liam Lawrence became the last senior player to leave the club and Appleton has been waiting patiently to start bringing new faces in.

He says he already has several players lined up having played triallists in pre-season, but believes those plans will now to be scrapped having had his budget cut by around 60%.

"It's not an ideal situation," Appleton continued. "I thought I would have 20 players going on the pre-season tour to Spain so I could get the team organised.

"But here we are with a day to go and I haven't got anyone.

"I have been recruiting all summer, working on the basis that the budget was a certain amount. What you do is get the best 20 players you feel can fit that budget.

"If the budget is what is being reported at the minute then it makes the job very, very difficult. Those players I've recruited, a lot of them I won't be able to sign because we won't be able to afford them.

"The problem you've then got is trying to find players to fit the new budget. All the best players will be gone and all you're left with are players who aren't good enough for that level."

Appleton has urged Chainrai to meet with him and revealed he has not been involved in the decision over the player budget.

"The most important thing in any business is dialogue between the people that count and I'd like to think at some point the manager of a football club will have a say on what happens," he said.

"It's difficult and has made my life 10 times harder. It's not as if I needed it to be any harder."

Appy: "The problem you've then got is trying to find players to fit the new budget"

Welcome to the real world of running a football club within its means....

A £1.5m budget for that lot is an insult to all the creditors they cheated out of money.

Quite. Given they have a bunch of free agents ready and waiting to join them, why do they need ANY transfer budget?

That's 1.5m that could and SHOULD go to creditors.

For the sake of being able to produce a badge such as this, a club is about to meet its maker - hope they think it was all worth it - a few of the bestest probably think it was. WTFILN

Fo' real? So if he wants a squad of 20 players he can afford to pay each of them... £1500/pw?

Lol

No, he has to pay the U18 & U21 squads out of that as well. I reckon he's looking at an average nearer £1,000 per week with a cap of £1,500 for the "stars".
