suewhistle Posted 27 July, 2012 Share Posted 27 July, 2012 The bit from Kanu's statement I like was "is willing to compromise significantly by a combination of waiving/deferring his entitlement provided he is certain the club will actually be saved and there will be an upside at some date in the future." Remarkably percipient! They've noted that any promise involving a CVA is not worth the paper it's written on..nor can chinny be guaranteed to maintain the existance of the club beyond the next parachute payment. OldNick Posted 27 July, 2012 Share Posted 27 July, 2012 (edited) you have been saying this since they were in the prem now they have -10 in league 1. hardly any players, no kit, and no money and 2 weeks from going pop how have they gotten away with it..? if you believe that is enough that is fine by me, but it is not in my book. Plenty of them feel liquidation was worthwhile it to get the Wembley visits etc. To then survive they would have double whammy. While they are breathing they have many years to come back again, and can pick up another backer, as stupid as it seems it has happened a few times already. As am older than you and can remember when they were off the radar swimming around the depths of the leagues, when they nearly were liquidated but found MM and then became a force spending what they couldn't afford. It will be far better seeing their children and more probably their grandchildren wearing Saints shirts in the future. Let them live and you will have the odd derby, whoopie do, I won't miss that much but them having no club will be fine by me. doddisalegend Posted 27 July, 2012 Share Posted 27 July, 2012 (edited) If only Pompey had an owner and manager like Colchester Utd Colchester are due to face financially-stricken Portsmouth in their second league game of the season and Ward said events Fratton Park served as a warning to other clubs. "I've got a sensible chairman who's got a business head as well and although he loses money on Colchester United, he wants to lose less and wants to encourage it more to be self-sufficient," said Ward. "There's no way that [Portsmouth's situation] will happen here. We might not bring the marquee names in but there's a group of players and a coaching staff that have all bought in with the chairman on what we're trying to do. Foxstone Posted 27 July, 2012 Share Posted 27 July, 2012 just spent two hours in pompey, did Arry a bit of market research to support his grand claims. Only saw three shirts - pompey 2-1 Chelsea. It appears Arry's dog was talking crap. Though I did see a lot of scrawny pike-children who are either sporting our new home kit, or have still to grasp the connection between direct sun for twelve hours and skin cancer. And from The News it does look like old naughty hands has dropped a clanger re the players' chances of getting paid. They really need to rehearse these statements if they want to show a united front. How is Moneypenny doing raising funds to save the club? It looks like that sponsored pie-eating contest she embarked on is going particularly well. Finally, business news...Anyone seen the side of the building that is missing a letter at Hilsea? it says in massive print Portsmouth holesale Either Mr Birch is already selling the ground, or Avram has hit the jackpot. They are making the big sweet dollars. They are making the... kwan, and you are talking. Jerry: Kwan. That's your word? Rod: Yeah, man, it means love, respect, community... and the dollars too. The whole package. The kwan. Jerry: Great word. Towel? Rod: No, I air-dry. Jerry: Rod, I say this with great respect, but those players you mentioned are marquee players... Rod: Marquee?!? Jerry: Here's what I'm saying. This is a renegotiation. We want more from them, so let's show them more from us. Let's show them your pure joy of the game, let's bury the attitude a little, let's show them -- Rod: You're telling me to dance. Jerry: No, I'm saying to be -- Rod: "Love me love me love me... put me on t.v." That's the iconography of racism, man! Jerry: Rod, I'm not a racist. I'm telling you to be the best version of you, to get back to the guy who first started playing this game. Way back when you were a kid. It wasn't just about the money, was it?...Was it? Rod: Do your job, man, don't tell me to dance. Jerry: Fine. Fine. Fine, fine, fine, fine, fine. Rod: I'm an athlete, not an entertainer. These are the ABC's of ME. Get it? I do not dance. The forward penned a four-and-a-half-year deal with his former club to bring to an end his Fratton Park stay. Huseklepp is the fourth player in a week to depart the Blues as they seek to remove players off the wage bill to avoid liquidation. Pugwash Posted 28 July, 2012 Share Posted 28 July, 2012 Birch could resolve this SO easily and guarantee survival of the club. All he has to do is make those players redundant, terminating their contracts and do the deal with the Trust. Of course the Golden Share will be withdrawn and they'll have to restart in the Conference South (at best). They might even still get the PPs and their gates won't drop that much. After all, the Trust and their fans have said that the most important thing is the survival of the club, regardless of their league position. But as usual, they're being greedy and want someone else - the players/former-heroes will do - to pull them out of the financial **** (again) so they can unfairly maintain their League status and continue the serial cheating. If the Trust were serious, and had any degree of remorse about the club's past failings, they'd do the honourable thing and put this to TB.
