Poopey SOS letter.....

With everything that has happened you, like us supporters, have every right to be angry, you are as much a victim of the incompetence that has left our club teetering on the brink of as anyone.

Has this been written to match the (supposed) intellect of football players, or did the person who wrote it not understand the basic rules of grammar?

I can't help but notice that the piece is headed: 'Pompey Tour Diary."

Since when did it become a tour? We were given to understand that this was a one-off match, against a Gibraltar XI, paid for by the Gibraltar FA, and that there would be no cost to p****y.

Surely it couldn't be the case that it wasn't true and that they have somehow found some money to fund a pre-season training camp in sunny southern Spain?

I'm sure the creditors would give their blessing to that.

Rumours were circulating that ticket sales have been suspended for PFC first home game, this was yesterday.

This has gathered pace somewhat.

i have just been on their OS and ticket purchasing details have been pulled as far as I can see, wonder if it is worth giving them a call.

Go on.

So out of curiosity I phoned the ticket office.she said that tickets are due to be on sale this week but 'because everything is up in the air she doubts that they will be on sale anytime soon'

Very very telling. Think the domestic bread browning appliance needs plugging in.

I read that part too, my brain hurts and I think I'm actually stupider for the experience. It reads like it was written by a person with cognitive difficulties.

Meanwhile....in the "Crisis? What Crisis?" business as usual world of Michael Appleton....

http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11661/7928430/?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed

Pompey, who are trying to avoid liquidation, could be an option for Derry after Appleton admitted he is the type of player he would be keen to add to his threadbare squad.

Appleton told The News: "Shaun is a Premier League player. Would I be interested in a Premier League player? Of course I would.

"At the end of the day, if people like that became available then we would be interested, so whether Portsmouthspacer.gif would be the destination for someone like Shaun, then who knows?

"If it became a possibility, though, then I would be very interested."

From one of the emissaries sent in person to hand-deliver the plea to the players this morning:

Before going to the Wellington Sports Ground this morning I hated Ben Haim. After seeing him being a scumbag in person by driving his luxury car straight past us I hate him even more. If our club gets liquidated I honestly hope that someone out there hires a hitman to dispose of that spineless sewer-rat

It became a tour when the poor sods over there found out that no-one had paid the fare for them to come back again. They are "working their passage" back home

I feel rather sorry for these highly paid players (which is strange as I never feel sorry for them as they get paid far too much). They seem to be being made the fall guys when really they are just prawns in this saga.

Just a small spelling correction.

Mischievous thought of the day: Trevor Birch is actually a Saints fan and all of his actions have been with the express intention of putting Pompey out of business.

Nah, course not.

Not such a daft notion given Birch wanted to become our chairman a few years ago...

Because I'm awesome, I've transcribed Ben Haim's interview from SSN at 3:20pm today, including a few "Ben Haimisms" like saying "true" for "truth" and "you know" every half sentence. He also laughs nervously a lot and says "he" instead of "we" and makes it sound like "will", but anyway :

Sky question : "It must be really tough ?"

TBH : "To be honest it's not easy... you know we still, er, everyone like the club, like the fans, but obviously the fans don't know the true. I don't want to talk about too much now, but I can say that, er, you know, when we first went into administration, then so, we sit with the first administrator, and in 5, 10 minute we got a deal, we agree everything.

Here it take a bit longer because Trevor speak with us and then he just disappeared for 2 months (shrugs) so... it's not our fault, he forgot that you have to do the negotiation with the player (laughs) and not with the press, you know? The press not going to sign a compromise - so will have to sit with us and... exactly the figures, no ?"

Sky question about Chainrai saying the survival is in the hands of the players :

TBH : "You know I think basically errr we didn't got to that situation because of the players, you know everyone... it's because the owners... so if it's... I don't know if it's Chainrai or I dunno, they are the owners before, the Russian that eh have problem with 250 million or I don;t know exactly the story, but it's not our problems, you know, we sign a contract with good faith, we come to play football, and er we find it very difficult. And we have a very hard time here to... to express ourself and to play football, to enjoy football.

But still we want to help the club to survive and, you know, we want to do our best, but they have to talk with us, and not with the press, that's the only problem now."

Sky : How much money have you lost ?

TBH : "Yeah I lost a lot of ,money, (nervous laugh) you know, it's not about figures, it's you know... over two, two and a half million pounds net, so...

But I prepared to lose more, I prepared to help the club and lose more money, but on the other hand, even the administrator, his fee is not less than what I earn, you know, nobody talk about that, so I prepared to lose more, but he have to cut his (nervous laugh)... his as well."

@solentsport: RT @NabilHassan79: We spoke to Bob Beech from SOS #Pompey earlier, he called on the club's players to become legends and help save them: http://t.co/9J79xNuY

Problem is legendary status isn't worth a whole lot down there.

Seem to remember Kanu was a legend not that long ago

Why make a major sacrifice for something that changes with the tide

According to this, Plymouth Argyle has had T-shirts printed in advance of the Skates match against Plymouth in the Capital One Cup on August 14th.

http://www.pafc.co.uk//news/article/argyle-two-a-tee-260559.aspx

These might well become collectors items when the match doesn't take place, because the Skates will cease to exist by then.

Unfortunately the good ship Pompey is holed below the waterline and sinking fast. The rudder has also been rendered inoperative and she is on a collision course for the rocks.

Mayday! Mayday!

I haven't followed the ins and outs that closely, but my gut feeling is that they will not be liquidated and they will start and finish their season in league one. If they were going to go pop it would have happened by now as they are quite clearly insolvent and have been for many many months.

I agree they probably wont be liquidated. I still think Fratton will be sold and they stand a good chance of being relegated to lg2 this season. They may well survive, but crippled.

Skate Bob Beech who spoke to Dave Kitson about his contract (accompanied by footage of Kitson holding the letter and chatting to some bloke outside Welly) :

"He accepted the letter and read it, and said he'll look at what's in the letter and come back to us, um, we also asked him about the situation, and he told us that he

has not been offered a compromise in his contract or a settlement.

Er, we've got no reason to disbelieve him, er, then we had a short meeting with Trevor Birch, who told us that the players have been given a compromise, so, as Jimmy Greaves once said, "it's a game of two halves".

I should interject here and point out that saying has nothing whatsoever to do with two people having opposing opinions of a situation.

Um, where we go now (Sky cut to clip of bloke holding the letter), not sure, but Trevor Birch has assured us, and has asked us to directly quote him, that they aren't crying wolf, we have two weeks to save the club, if the club isn't saved in two weeks, we will be liquidated, or WITHIN two weeks we will be liquidated

Sky: So that's as serious as it gets for Portsmouth Football Club... open message from Trevor Birch to the fans, you've got 2 weeks to save the club ?

Absolutely, it's down to us now, no-one else is going to save this club, it's us fans which will save this club, nobody else. So I'm appealing to all Pompey fans, to get out there, let's show these people what our club means to us".

Can someone sticky this quote, because in two weeks we'll get to see EXACTLY the impact "the world's bestest" have - i.e. absolutely none.

EDIT : For the lolz, they immediately then cut to Olympic news, with a "4 DAYS TO GO" full screen splash following that interview. Made me laugh.

:toppa:

You are a Legend sir, many thanks

Hmm I can see a few compromises coming out of the woodwork in the next few days putting the remaining players under pressure - but the ace in the hole is still Kanu - uness one of the 'high worth fans' can pay him off.

Interesting they area all saying the same thing ie TB hasn't even opened negotiations though - that is just bizzare

Really ? Which part of "no-one is going to buy them and the administrator will liquidate within 2 weeks" don't you get ? Even if they get agreement for the compromise deals for the 8 huge wage earners to leave they'll still have a trust ownership with no money and no expertise, and will probably not make their first wage payments in September. As it is, the only indications are that for 2 months the administrator has not bothered to remove those players from the wage bill, which I'm inclined to think means that he wants to liquidate and needs a scapegoat (or 8 ).
