I shall be watching England U19's playing in the Euro Championships in Estonia next week. Our former 'Player of the Season' and favourite Noel Blake has picked a good squad with a lot of PL reserves in it. I suspect MA will be doing the same. Having seen these lads a number of times this season I would be more than happy if we signed:

Goalkeeper: Sam Johnstone (Man Utd)

Defenders: Luke Garbutt (Everton) who played for Cheltenham last season or Michael Keane (Man U) or Jack Robinson (Liverpool) or Tom Thorpe (also Man U)

Midfielders: Ross Barkley (Everton) or Nathaniel Chalobah (Chelsea) or Harry Kane (Spurs) who played for Millwall last season or George Thorne (WBA)

Forward: Benik Afobe (Arsenal)

Trust me, we could put out a far worse side then this lot of reserves!

And you certainly will. Trust me.

For the t-shirt I think the 2 "Who the f**k is laughing now" babies picture (can find the pic on the web anywhere and can't be a453d to search through this forum to find it)

Loving hte FB comments -

I can't think of many things more vulgar, inappropriate and pointless than a statue.

Anyone voting for that needs to take a long, hard look at themselves.

I think a more appropriate comment would be -

"I can't think of many things more vulgar, inappropriate and pointless than a skate.

Anyone supporting PFC needs to take a long, hard look at themselves."

I think it has to be a red and white striped toaster and Skate logoed toast, possibly heading towards something nasty....

If TBH is deferring £30k/week, that's £750k since the turn of the year, plus of course they are deferring the NI etc that becomes due on it so the debt must be accruing at a staggering rate. Also, you can see why no-one wants to leave without their cash - the only leverage he, and the others, has over the DCFSBs is his continual drain on their bank account. I'm just starting to think that they really might not get away with it this time.

Didnt they do similar to a vote we had once? Think it was for a shirt and they were voting for the nasty one. As they go for the quality over quantity approach with everything down there, the small number of bestest fans that could figure out how to use a computer were out numbered by our lot who voted a decent shirt through anyway I think?

Another Who the F@#* is laughing now moment it seems.....

That has to make it on the nutjob t-shirt. :D

What goes around....

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/1111795.stm

BBC Sport Online's Saj Chowdhury investigates how vote-rigging is hampering Southampton's efforts to choose a new kit.

When Barry Davies uttered "interesting, very interesting" on a Match of the Day commentary, he was referring to a splendid effort from Manchester City's Francis Lee.

But if he saw what the Southampton's players could be wearing next season then the BBC commentator may be forced to repeat those words.

The football club's official website is running an online poll, giving fans a chance to vote for the Saints new home strip, but arch-rivals Portsmouth fans have also got in on the act.

Their votes may yet leave Saints red-faced and their players wearing a kit genuine supporters do not want.

Voters can choose from five kits, three of which look similar to the current red and white striped version, and Clive Foley, editor of Saints fanzine 'The Ugly Inside', is confident Portsmouth fans will not have the last laugh.

"It's just a load of hype, I'm sure the v-neck red and white stripe kit will win the day," he said.

"You expect rival fans to do that. The Portsmouth unofficial websites have been telling their supporters to go an vote for the worst shirt.

"I'm pretty sure it won't be our strip for the new stadium and I'm confident that by 13 January (the day the results are announced), that the right choice will be made."

A club spokesman said: "I can imagine that there are Portsmouth and other fans around the country who just want a laugh," he said. "There has been an upsurge in voting over the last two days for that particular design - but it's not red and white stripes."

Maybe someone should post a link to this on Twitter etc to remind our friends down the road that all is fair in love and war

Nutjobs.

Hmmm.

Tee Shirt design.

Surely that requires a cartoon of a well dressed person in a Saints shirt with a number 7 on the back and the name WTFILN delivering the perfect knee in the nuts to a cartoon skate with the Where's your Riqueleme Gone? line built in somewhere.

Oh Doc on call? The nice thing about Bangkok is that you can still find high quality.

The Tee Shirts will of course be Armani/Prada/Dior/Stone Island/Adidas ;) heck, maybe even Kevin Klean

Just unlike poopey - they will be at a price that's affordable.

Someone has already produced this, there was a group of four people at Middlesboro in yellow t-shirts with the baby picture on. If whoever did it reads the forum, they could make a few quid.

Trousers' initial design but red on white would be good. On the back the toaster design with the toast slightly more burnt and some significant design on the toast itself. Not a club crest (copyright issues) but perhaps silhouettes of a skate?... Underneath WTFILN. Perhaps a bit fussy on the design front so just keep it to the initial design, and red on white if that works.

So - 25 days left is it? Tick tock. Lets have a look at this - Player 1 is the first to cave in and 'does a deal'. No way he gets paid out immediately - will have to wait until the cashflow arrives - after Chinnys CVA is adopted. Player 2 hangs on. Club gets liquidated. Player 2 gets a payout from the PFA based on his full contract value, Player 1 gets a substantially reduced sum based on his revised entitlement. So why be Player 1? They are £u

If I was advising a player at present I'd be recommending that they stick close by Birch, putting a fresh invoice for deferred wages, interest, image rights and the rest in his sweaty palm every week. The agents/advisors are not stupid - they know that the club cannot pay what is due, but they also realise that accepting some compromise where they'll get 20% of 20% over ten years less expenses will equally pay them nothing in the long run because the club will never be able to afford it. So their clients may as well sit out the next three weeks and see where the end-game takes us.

I think Birch also knows that the time is nearly up for the Skates. He has his professional reputation to consider and losing an ex-Prem team is a big blot on his CV, but all he can do now is sit and wait and pray that either TBH eats a dodgy kosher-burger or TCWTB wins the lottery .

And in the meantime all is quiet, save the distant sound of gargling carried on the wind from the open window of Portsea Weight-watchers Club.

I'm Luton and sympathise with you but you ain't out of it yet. You do realise we were deducted 30 points over two seasons and an extra 10 points for financial irregularities? Bournemouth and Rotherham lost 27 points over the same period.

The fact that you went bust as a 'moneybags' premiership club IS an embarrassment to the FA. We all used the argument that the people who caused the admin had left and it was the innocents being punished but this isn't true. Pompey took the place of another club in the Prem and FA Cup. You benefitted by cheating, is the argument!

At Luton, we had a week before the season started, to put a squad together. Don't expect any favours from the FA. The fact that your CVA was worth nothing/wasnt honoured is also a big factor. Can anyone trust Pompey moving on especially with respect to the golden share? We got ours a week before the season started!

You've spent a lot of other peoples money. Don't expect any friends in this. No-one sympathised with us! Any wonder why Harry didn't get the England job...

I just love this reply, bRILLIANT,

Absolutely, that Luton chap deserves a medal.

Now that they are out of the limelight and down in the third tier, I think the public sympathy and spin may dry up. I imagine most plastic fans at clubs in the PL wouldnt have a clue about what happend to Luton, Boscombe, Rotheram etc... Soon enough they will hear of the skates liquidating in passing and give it that annoying 'another Leeds' dribble, but ultimately they have little interest.

Really looking forward to TCWTBs statue, below are some side splittingly hilarious comments:

Who will the statue be of? John PFC Westwood is the symbolic pompey fan so maybe him and his band? Or just a random bloke in the blue white and red? Not sure what i would prefer but Jonny Westwood is our most famous fan so that would stand out more at Fratton park PUPPPPPU

We filled 72% of Frattons capacity last season, saints filled 80% of their capacity, considering they were top all year and heading for the premier league and we once again were relegated because of a league points deduction I would have said we commanded more support

PMSL, got to love those deluded few!

I dont fancy toast for lunch today, think I may go for a liquid lunch

http://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/LatestNews/news/Fanpower-Voting-Update-3501.aspx

Pompey fans can email the club to decide how the £30,000 won in npower’s Fanpower Stadium competition is spent.

This comes after the club were made aware that the open vote on the competition’s Facebook page has been distorted by supporters of other clubs.

Supporters are still able to vote via Facebook and the competition organisers have promised to validate the final totals – discounting the selections of rival fans – once voting has closed.

News on Watford's takeover by the Pozzo family.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18646398

Administrator Andrew Andronikou, who advised the Hornets on the sale, said: "We are delighted to have ensured that Watford's immediate future is safe.

"The family have a proven track record of building successful teams on the field, and balancing the books off it."

Andronikou added: "This transaction is a significant one, as it provides the Pozzo football dynasty with a secure platform to introduce its successful formula to the UK."

I WONDER if in 2010 AA gave the "thick phew" the choice of owners, you can either have :-

(a) a Italian family whos main aim is to "balance the books" and secure the "immediate future" or

(b) a Russian group who, who are willing to spend over £10M on big fees and big wages for the likes of Kitson, Norris, Huseklepp, Halford, Lawrence etc, BUT we do not know where their money comes from and there have been some bad press reports about them i.e. Saab Cars.

I think we all know who the thick phew would pick.

And how eminently suitable - a cheap, tacky liquidiser from the Tesco Value range. Perfect.

Stacked as high as you can see in the brand new Tesco superstore at fratton!

Worst thing is you know we'd just end up buying that old Ted Bates statue second-hand and claim it was Mandaric.

That would be simply stunning. I can picture it now, its a drab, wet day at Moneyfields stadium... journo of the millenium neil allen is there in his skate shirt with A-O-Chamberlain on the back... A p*ssed Ashley Brown of the PST pulls the dust sheet off to reveal our failed Ted Bates statue with the plaque modified to theres only one Milan, the Serbian gangster who gambled the clubs future with a bunch of tax evading crooks and set the path to pompeys beautiful destruction.

which ******* genuis decided that it was a good idea to vote for a statue commending the fans?

Good point you DFCSB, whilst the nutjobs may be casting one or two votes for the statue, it was the pompey fans that came up with the idea... you only have to look to see who has voted and an outstanding majority are skates. Only a dozen or so Saints fans.

Whilst enjoying my lunch of liquid I have realised that I would like to have some letters printed on my new SFC shirt next season, but what shall I do:

SHALALA?

Or

WTFILN?

League Two player turns down a League One club because "it didn't feel right":

@solentsport: Herd 'rejected League One offer': Aldershot Town defender Ben Herd says he turned down a move to a League One si... http://t.co/3bEG11nZ

I've been wracking my brain trying to think of a League One club that wouldn't feel right to join but can't think of one. Can anyone help me out here....? ;-)

I remain to be convinced that Player 2 would get anything from the PFA, in the past they have only ever provided emergency loans to unpaid players.

I would put forward a similar problem:

1. Not enough players do a deal, the club gets liquidated, the players get nothing.

2. All of the high earners except one do a deal. The club survives, the players who did a deal get a small amount of money, the one holdout gets paid in full.

Everyone would want to be the one holdout to get paid in full in situation 2, but it is in none of their interests for situation 1 to happen. It's a classic Prisoners Dilemma

I'm confused by option one in the vote...

1. Free tickets to local schools for League One games at Fratton Park in 2012/13. These would be distributed by our Football League award-winning charity arm, the Pompey Sports & Education Foundation. It means youngsters who may rarely get the chance to come to watch Pompey can do so for free. Seats will be in the Milton End and would be available from our home game against Oldham on September 1.

So the club give out £30,000 worth of free tickets to kids to fill up some empty seats at Fratton Park, where does the £30,000 actually go? Back into the club's coffers? Surely that can't be right when the organisers said it can't be used to pay off debt.

Also £30,000 equates to 3,000 kids tickets for that Oldham game, so watch out for them claiming how great their support is on 1st September.

Quite. Or it may even be that say 7 or 8 of the high earners that are currently on contract do a deal and get very little, then the 2 or 3 remaining get loads of money. That makes the players even more likely to hang on.

PLUS there is a faint hope that the PFA may get some money out of the parachute payments in liquidation.

Who is going to blink first?
