http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/pompey-past/appleton-won-t-dismiss-loan-return-for-west-brom-duo-1-3995334 Appleton targets another two Premiership players I think it has stopped being funny now
To be fair, the actual "story" is that Appleton has texted two players he had on loan last season a couple of times. And that's about it. Mind you, I'd have thought that Birchy-boy would have been on Appleton's case not to waste money on pointless texts... that's 48p that could have been better spent on TBH's salary ;)

I'm Luton and sympathise with you but you ain't out of it yet. You do realise we were deducted 30 points over two seasons and an extra 10 points for financial irregularities? Bournemouth and Rotherham lost 27 points over the same period.

The fact that you went bust as a 'moneybags' premiership club IS an embarrassment to the FA. We all used the argument that the people who caused the admin had left and it was the innocents being punished but this isn't true. Pompey took the place of another club in the Prem and FA Cup. You benefitted by cheating, is the argument!

At Luton, we had a week before the season started, to put a squad together. Don't expect any favours from the FA. The fact that your CVA was worth nothing/wasnt honoured is also a big factor. Can anyone trust Pompey moving on especially with respect to the golden share? We got ours a week before the season started!

You've spent a lot of other peoples money. Don't expect any friends in this. No-one sympathised with us! Any wonder why Harry didn't get the England job...

I just love this reply, bRILLIANT,

Wes I dont think I could put my hand up and say that there wouldnt be saints fans who'd think the same if the roles were reversed. That paragraph sums up why I believe they have got away with it. Most clubs fans in all of football except for the top 6 of the PL might take that if they were offered it to have those life experiences. If they had not cheated their kids would never have experienced those days that robbed other clubs fans of the same because they played it correctly. Fair play would be demoted to the Southern League etc and then i would also agrwee that they then had paid the price, until then i will not change my mind.

Well, count me amongst the moral minority then, Nick. It might well have been a fantastic experience going to Wembley 6 times or whatever it was in total, but those visits are fading memories for them now. They have only a bleak future to look forward to now and the probability that they might not get back to that level in most Skates' lifetimes.

At least we went to an FA Cup final living within our means and had the other visit to Wembley, albeit just for the Johnstones Paint Trophy. But it has been great fun working our way back to the promised land and there is every chance that we might well experience another 27 span there.

So they had their day in the sun, and now they face the derision of all us Saints fans and others who have the bragging rights for the foreseeable future, if not the distant future. Let them try and put some sort of gloss on Crawleys' fans chanting "you used to be a big club". That is they are lucky enough to be playing at that level.

So they would rather be a lion for a day than a lamb for a lifetime, except that they weren't lions, but cheetahs (cheaters). ;)

I shall be watching England U19's playing in the Euro Championships in Estonia next week. Our former 'Player of the Season' and favourite Noel Blake has picked a good squad with a lot of PL reserves in it. I suspect MA will be doing the same. Having seen these lads a number of times this season I would be more than happy if we signed:

Goalkeeper: Sam Johnstone (Man Utd)

Defenders: Luke Garbutt (Everton) who played for Cheltenham last season or Michael Keane (Man U) or Jack Robinson (Liverpool) or Tom Thorpe (also Man U)

Midfielders: Ross Barkley (Everton) or Nathaniel Chalobah (Chelsea) or Harry Kane (Spurs) who played for Millwall last season or George Thorne (WBA)

Forward: Benik Afobe (Arsenal)

Trust me, we could put out a far worse side then this lot of reserves!

Meanwhile, in other tenuously related 'slightly bonkers football boardroom shenanigans' news...

http://myonlycardiff.com/2012/06/27/cardiff-city-season-ticket-refund-meeting-270612/

Some eye-watering numbers in that article

Some interesting debate going on at Cardiff it seems. Small update (not wanting to sidetrack too far from pompey) on the Rangers situation north of the border, according to the beeb, they're trying to shoehorn Rangers into Div 1 next season, although that may get blocked. Little rumour I've heard is that one of the junior clubs (non-league if you like) Linlithgow Rose is considering legal action against the SFA & SFL if newco Rangers are allowed in the SFL - even in Div 3. The argument is that I believe that new rules were put in place post Gretna to ensure that any new club has to submit 3 years worth of accounts - obviously newco Rangers can't.

Could end up with Rangers having to play non-league for 3 years!!! (at the Scottish equivalents of our fave non-league ground Moneyfields)

As far as I see it there are 2 options

1. High earners depart, club saved from liquidation but with a shell of a team and quality that would have Accrington Stanley wetting themselves at the prospect of playing against. Skates struggle and with a potential points deduction are fighting relegation.

2. High earners stay, chinny's deal falls through, Birch liquidates the club

Win win situation as far as I'm concerned and it's so dire for them I think even Corpy would now admit that the future isn't rosey and that liquidation is looming large and it's certainly the closest the club have been to going out of business (I kind of miss the guy, when goings on down the M27 went quiet at least we had someone to laugh at, god bless toy selling, caravan living, interbreeding, internet trolls)

The skates are claiming in the news that TBH has been on sky sports offering to slash his salary by 30k a week and his only interest is to save the club

There is some suggestion he was referring to the deferrals already taken... and that this is therefore more of a "fighting back" move to show the other side of the argument.

So here we are on June 28th. This must mean another months worth of salary has left the building. Must be time to sell another player, rather than get some loans in.

Also, as of 1 July the monthly stipend of £200,000 that Pompey receives as a Championship club is reduced to £65,000 a month. So they won't be able to cover the existing reduced wages!

Perhaps they'll get some sponsorship money in.... Ah.

OK, some shirt sales.... Umm..

Sell some season tickets... Err, hang on, isn't the money in escrow and released game by game?

Sell some players... sorry, only joking...

They are so ****ed.

The trouble is the first option is open to abuse, depending on what is left of the PPs to purchase reasonable or superior players for league one. Otherwise they have to adhere to the 65% rule in league one.

The first option is only open to abuse if anyone other than Chinny "I'm secured and WILL get my money back" takes over, otherwise the PPs are gonna be going straight to his account offshore.

It is amazing that so many saints fans have voted for the statue. PMSL.

Some more inspiration:

We can't let that statue option win. We have Jimmy Dickinson without a statue, so to have one of the fans would be horrific. If it wins, as it looks like, I think the fans need to contact the club as it clearly is an horrific choice.

@pn_neil_allen: To clarify Ben Haim Sky comments, he's taken £30,000 a week referral (sic), not cut. Means gets money at later date. All #Pompey players deferred.

Looks like its just a case of kicking the can down the road then.

How the trust hope to run the club with a couple of thousand pledges tops I do not know

I think we're getting near the time for a special commemorative t-shirt.

"I'm a Pompey Takeover Saga Nutjob!"

Designs guys?!

Hmm be quick, may be off to Thailand in a couple of weeks, cheap as chips over there for T Shirts. How many members do we have with over 500 posts?

"This is being abused by non-Pompey fans. A large number of people are voting for the statue who have no affiliation with Portsmouth Football Club. The statue does not benefit the club or the less fortunate fans out there. Remove that option!"
