"Pompey will start their League One campaign with a mouthwatering south coast derby clash against Bournemouth."

:D

If ever there was a fixture that wasn't just randomly picked by a computer then......probably their biggest game of the season () guaranteeing maximum income from the off that should see them at least limp through August. So a full house (no doubt with 1000s locked out), big (ish) payday and off to a winning start at home. Hope it all goes to plan then......said Pinnochio.

exactly, i said that to a Bournemouth fan this morning. I suspect Bompey home is their biggest gate of the season and the FL conveniently made it their first fixture to get a bit of interest out there. It may get a few more s/t sold.

Don't see why people think the Skates will sell out against Bournemouth? They only had 16.5k there for a far bigger game at the start of last season against Brighton. I'm expecting 15k and an average of 12k-13k after that.

Small time.

To be fair, cheaper tickets this year at FP

 Makes sweet reading

If that warms your heart then please allow me to add a little more poetry to this magnificent thread:

Of course, you will get those former supporters who will turn their back and simply won’t want to watch the club in their first season in third tier football since 1982-83. But there are many more out there who are genuinely relishing the season ahead.

There are new grounds to visit, new pubs to drink at and a chance for the old Pompey – the club that slapped around in the lower league back in the 1970s and 1980s – to rediscover its soul.

As long as Pompey can get a side out – even if it’s a team made up of unproven teenagers and has-beens – the fans with that kind of unconditional loyalty will be there to back them.

Got to love a bit of deluded and contradictory spin from the snooze!

Thats the spirit!

I reckon they will pack the park with 2-3k bompey fans and 13-14k skates, but the will unconditional loyalty will rapidly fade to 10k and below.

I suspect any mention on here of "sell outs" at the skates is just tongue-in-cheek. A big gate down there this year will be anything over 10k. Giving them Bournemouth at home to start is just another example of the authorities bending over backwards to help "plucky little p*mpey".

From a skate called 'adenuff' on the same thread on snooze:

9:38 AM on 19/06/2012

'At least we won't be losing 4-0 on the opening game of the season. We will be winning 4-0 this time as with most of the games this season in this atrocious league.'

Some of them are going to have *such* a rude awakening

And so they are celebrating the news that 'The Axe' has agreed a deal to move to South Africa and that is removes £15k pw from the wage bill. Shame they also missed the comments from his agent that says they still need to agree a deal for his last year on the contract with Birch and that he is still owed money from the last administration. Is that not admitting that they have failed to honour the settling of football creditors in full last time?

I love the way Birch and Agents are using the media to spin things their own way.....tick tock.

I think if my side has just seen a downward swing in league position of about 70 places in no time at all, I wouldn't be too worried about the rivals playing Man City.

We now have to look forward to a deluded season of scummers lost at Arsenal/Liverpool and we got a point at home to Yeovil/Crewe so that makes us the bestest....

As we pointed out to Bournemouth, there's only one south coast derby.

Should still be the biggest gate of the season at fortress fratton where Stevenage and Crawley fear to tread - 12K?

That's ignoring the fact that pompey cannot start next season without major changes.

The most likely thing is that Birch will decide that the wages can no longer be funded by PPs and he becomes liable.

Like many things from the east, it makes no sense.

They are clearly insolvent.

By continuing to trade he must be running up more debt.

The only income is season ticket money which must have some sort of protection from the bank as they release it if a game happens so there's no great injection of capital.

No income, wages being deferred, Gibraltar holiday to pay for, no keeper - can't go on much longer....tis bonkers.

a fan buy-out would be great, a club serving the community would be trail-blazing.

Birch isn't ignoring them because he loves Chinny - he's ignoring them because they are tyre-kickers.

To buy anything you need money.

They don't have enough.

So it's not going to happen.

This article is just MPs harvesting future votes from a dim public - again.

The local councillors were the same, full of it before the elections, silent after.

we did everything we could...they sobbed, as the club sank beneath the gently rippling waves at the very site that the Harbourdome should have staged the World Cup final....

And there's MoneyPenny as the French Lieutenants woman, stood in a heap at the end of the slipway waving goodbye....but unlike her tweed skirt, this statement will cover her ar$e.

See there you all go, laughing at the less fortunate again. I hope you can live with yourselves.

Come someone tell me what is funny about the fact the Mokena wanting to leave, but the only stumbling block being the wages and bonuses that have been defered from last season, oh and the outstanding money from the previous administration?

And mocking the MP's & Councillors - what's that all about? Why is it so funny that the community buy out needs unprecended scrutiny? Juts because they don't have any money, that shouldn't make them a source for your humour.

And so what if they haven't got a goal keeper? Clotterill factored this is in with his "Quality over Quantity" reign and every player (9) on the books can also play in goal.

Take note, Skates.

Piacenza, an Italian club, had a deadline for a buyer which expired overnight. They no longer exist as a professional football club and all players will be released later today.

To quote the old National Lottery slogan "It could be you..."

I thought that was Jo Cala's old club for a bit! I wonder how the underwater casino magnate is coming along? Has he completed his reverse leverage floatation initial public offering in the U.S yet?... If not maybe he could do a deal with the trust.

Picture this, a skint skate trust with three high net worth individuals comprising of Brett de Bank, Dr Sulamin Al Fahim and Joseph Cala

Can anyone tell me how these MPs expect Birch to give consideration, fair or otherwise, to a bid from the trust when the trust has not actually made any bid?

(In spite of saying they would definitely bid within 7 days, 10 days ago!)

Looks like TB has finally managed to get rid of one of the players

Don't worry us. I thought you meant another on. You were 1 day and 44 posts too late with that link! The move is dependant on TB paying up the amount Mokoena has had deferred and is owed. Not a foregone conclusion.

Looks like they've been trying to rob their own fans as well ! copied and paste from pol

Hi all,

OK, this is the addition to this thread.

As I have told the Trust when we were asked to post that up, whilst I am happy to do so, I am also putting up my own POV about things as I don't believe on hiding things from you, as I attend the Conference meetings and discussions on behalf of you all.

As you are probably aware, Pompey fans won the £30k for the Fanspowerstadium initiative and, as part of that winning prize, the criteria was for a fan of the winning club to choose one of the deemed ways to have the money spent, see the details here.

Now, as you again probably know, the club decided that the 30k would go towards keeping the season ticket prices down, and announced that. Now, two problems here. 1) As I've mentioned, that was against the competition criteria and spirit and 2) the ticket prices were published before Pompey won the prize. Something wasn't right, and Scott Mclachlan emailed the club as a result and asked for answers, copying in the Conference email list.

Scott talked to a rep from the club on the phone and was assured it was an honest mistake, miscommunication between the Football League and Trevor Birch, and were keen to rectify, hence the request in the other thread.

Myself and Vern (PompeyV) said quite openly that we weren't happy with that explanation, it didn't make sense and, really, we didn't believe that it was a 'mistake'. For me, how the blue hell can you commit money which you haven't won yet, it doesn't make any logical sense. Scott said that was honestly how it had been explained to him.

So, just to summarise, whilst it's good that fans are now being asked how to use the money, personally I don't believe it was a genuine mistake at all, I find a mistake honestly impossible to happen in the way we are being asked to believe it did, and, whilst we have bigger fights to fight, and staff in general at the club do a great job, I think it's important that the facts are out there for everyone.

Better than that. I see that SAF is rumoured to potentially have a hand in the Trust takeover...
