Pompey Takeover Saga

It wouldn't be Exeter, they came 23rd. Wycombe in 21st would be the ones saved from relegation.

Is that right mlg? Ive seen the exeter echo or whatever it is called, with articles on howthey might be saved because of pompeys situation.

I thought that was a possible scenario at the time but since then they may have dropped lower which would rule that option out I guess?

So, to summarise, the options are:

a) they get a new owner (or a new old owner) who agrees a CVA, and takes on a potential income shortfall of £10m (unlikely), plus a possible points penalty for not completing the old CVA.

b) they get a new owner who cannot agree a CVA (as per Leeds), and who takes on the income shortfall (unlikely), plus a definite points penalty for coming out without a CVA and a possible penalty for failing the old CVA.

c) they're toast.

What have I missed??

If the fixtures are due to be announced on 18th June, then any possible change to the leagues due to a pompey default would have to be very soon. If they limp on only to die beyond then, presumably League 1 will be a team short.

With the summer transfer merry-go-round now in full swing, the league will have to act soon or not act at all to preserve the integrity of the competition.

Not just for the 1 or 2 clubs whose division (and therefore income levels, and costs) could be impacted, but also for those clubs who may or may not be interested in PFC players, as well as for the players themselves.

This week could be big.

The Exeter paper's article was written after they had been relegated but before the end of the season when they still had a chance of finishing top of the four relegated sides. They ended up drawing on the final day and finished 2nd bottom, so if Pompey went under it would be Wycombe that stayed up and not Exeter.

Two things definitely happening tomorrow.

Firstly, it's the first day of season ticket sales.

Secondly...

Jordan Cross ‏@pn_jordan_cross

And how could I forget? Also in The News tomorrow, the #Pompey Fans' Manifesto: Part 2. Complete with some great twitter shouts!

Well, its 'tomorrow'.

I have laid in fresh supplies of sliced white bread & plugged the toaster in.

The champagne is in the fridge and the glasses are laid out on the work top.

I hope that's long life bread....this saga's got another two years to run yet....still, the champagne will benefit from the extra maturing....

SACHA GAYDAMAK RETURNS...

A further ace held by Gaydamak is that he is guaranteed to receive the next four parachute payments from the Premier League. These will be used to offset Portsmouth FC’s debts and fund a quick return to the Championship.

Did I miss something here?

Definitely appears to be a windup as the link to the telegraph at the end of the story does not work and if you go to the telegraph website and look under pompey no story about it there. Plus nothing on L'Equipe website about pompey in the last week at least.

Though the story does I suppose have a core sense to it in that if gady could buy the remaining property he would be in a position to sell the whole area as one transaction to developers? Though it would probably make more sense to buy it from the liquidators.

I think we can be assured that the FL did not grant them a golden share unconditionally as they would have been shouting it from the rooftops by now. My guess is TB has had a final ultimatum issued by the FL to get a new owner in.

On that basis I reckon TB's next move will be to announce that the club will go under unless the higher paid players leave on breach of contract by a specific date.

this current silence must crank up the pressure on Birch.

Trev me old mate, what exactly is going on?

Pretending to look like a solvent business by trying to sell season tickets and doing U-Turns on transfer policy makes it look all a bit shambolic

OFFLOAD PLAYERS!

Tis the only way, and as you obviously can't, start shouting at people to wake them up to the situation.

Sitting quietly and hoping it goes away while running up more debt and your own fee, is not a great policy.

I reckon his masterplan at the moment is to survive this week without answering questions, and then he can hide behind Euro 2012.

I was curious to see what portsmouth's own fans were saying about the situation, so had a look at some of their forums over the weekend in case they'd heard something we hadn't. I know we call them the' blue few', but even so I was shocked by how few posters they seem to have. You'd think their forums would be in meltdown in their precarious position, but no. Just a few desultory posts.

Have I missed some real hotbed forum? Which is their main one?

Oh and btw the ones I did see, in general know less than the posters on here. The typical posts are along the lines of .. "why don't we just sack Ben Haim and Kitson?", or "why did Birch sell Ward so cheap?", with the odd relatively sane one trying over and over again to explain the rules.

in the first year (!) this thread became the best online site for ANY pompey takeover developments.

you're right KenT - I would always come here first to find out what was happening as nutjobs are famed for their investigative skills, if anything breaks anywhere in the world, someone would be on it.

Remember how it took three minutes to suss out CSI, ditto Al Faraj and Al Fahim?

That's what makes Lampitt's excuses so funny, he 'couldn't see it coming'.

And I've taken great delight in letting my skate mates know any breaking news.

One of them is vaguely involved with the Trust so I particularly like giving him bad news before the Trust know it.

I keep explaining that they are wasting their time, he keeps denying it, I keep producing evidence.

Nothing as funny as telling them they've missed their wages before they know they have!

I'm sure some skates come on here to find out what is really going on rather than lapping up the spin offered to the east.

This is now a specialist international news portal manned 24-7 by highly-qualified nutjobs - which means it also serves the community by occupying nutjobs - when this thread closes we'll be back on the streets... :0

The silence from the FL is deafening! Is this the board that are dealing with Poorsmouth.

aids4.jpg

Time is running out fast the decision to continue to allow the football creditors rule could well be the final nail on the perch for them, & not before time!

The players wont go unless their contracts are paid up, they can't afford to keep the players & Chinny won't come back in unless it cost's him nothing.

All he wants is control over the land the S**t hole sits on nothing more. Worst case scenario is he has to buy it again in the liquidation sale. His decision will be is it cheaper to buy when liquidated or get back control of the club.

Are we finally at the end game? Or will this thread get another new twist & a few more laughs.

You're so right Rallyboy. This thread has kept me going since the season ended. If they ever really do go bust, I will just wander the streets , going up to strangers and asking them if they want to know about the football creditors rule, or would they like me to explain how a CVA works?

Many skates come on here to find out what the latest news is with their club. There is a discussion thread on POL about that scummer thread where they get a bit defensive over our constant mocking, joking and p*ssing ourselves laughing.

Our nutjobs have called it right all the way through and will no doubt continue to do so.

Ken mentions the lack of discussion from the blue few, hes not looking hard enough as there is plenty of it... unfortunately for them they keep forgetting the impending oblivion and decide to celebrate those that brought them to this position:

Sacha Gaydamak has been voted Pompey's 'best owner' in the past five years in an exclusive truebluearmy.com poll.

With almost 40% of the votes, he was the clear winner by the 'first past the post' voting method, scoring nearly twice as well as the second-placed Vladimir Antonov/CSI option.

You really couldnt make it up! But well done gun runner boy!

Heres a bit of nostalgia from the early days in our thread... almost time for the sponsor/charity proceeds funded Gibraltar trip!

I just looked at that 'truebluearmy' forum. No posts showing on there since monday! And the latest posts aren't even about their dire situation.

They're not even bothering to fiddle whilst Pompey burns. (An allusion for the classically educated amongst you! Wonder if better as Pompei?)

Warburton

Can't say too much at this stage because it would breach a long-standing trust, but following on from the Football League's AGM in Portugal, expect a very important announcement regarding the future of PFC to be made within the next few days - and if my source is correct (and he's been bang on the money previously), it will not be good news for the club..

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/pompey-past/clubs-ready-to-pounce-as-futacs-considers-future-1-3918936

Marko Futacs is weighing up his Pompey future with Championship sides ready to pounce.

And the Hungarian powerhouse is prepared to bide his time as he decides whether to stay at Fratton Park on reduced terms.

Futacs has been offered a new contract after a clause was activated to tie him to the club for an additional 12 months.

That would be on less money as the Blues battle to cut their £9.5m wage bill.

Interesting. If its a clause in his original contract does that means that he would get another 12 months at his old salary unless he signs the new reduced one?

A poll of their best owners over the last five years is like asking which is the best form of cancer. The delusion on the fish smelling end of the M27 is simply laughable.

The only thing that makes me want them to limp on is that my train journeys will be very boring without the constant gut laughs this thread provides.

I am sure I have mentioned in before, but if ever you get a chance watch a film called 'Major League'. If they do survive Chinny will replicate the owners tactics next year, without the happy ending (I believe Avram has the Pompey monopoly on those anyway).

Perhaps there is a consortium of Gun Runner, Al Fahim, Al Mirage, Chinny and Antonov all working together with the PST (Funny how that sounds like ****ed) to secure Champions Leagure football at the Harbourdrome.

Or more likely 17 points, embargo and a stipulation that there cannot be fat in the pipes at and FL ground.

Technically FF started the thread 'Oh Happy Day - PFC takeover completes'. The thread title was changed after it rumbled on for a bit.

That said, 'oh happy day' sums it up - because from that point their terminal, public and humiliating decline started.

Duncan in effect wrote this forums version of Genesis.

With the FL all prescious about their football creditors rule and protecting the integrity of the game, it would be hilarious if that same rule forced Popmey to shut up shop as they were unable to get rid of the burden of expensive contracts.

Protecting the integrity of the game has given clubs licence to live beyond thier means and those same rules have become some serious nails in the coffin.

I still have a feeling that Chainrai will somehow come out of this with the club and they will start the season but only becuase we have been there so many times before thinking its the final chapter and they get let off the hook at the last minute.

Quite happy for the pain to continue though, I cant see them being in a position to make a profit for a long time to come so life support will continue and league position will keep dropping.

Shame.

Begrudingly, I have to admit that this thread might well be in its final throws. Even last week I was convinced that Chinny would sail in to save the day and collect the parachute payments. Birch's bombshell that Chinny coming back is dependent on shifting the high earners, changes everything.

This probably will be the week.

Hi Andrew

Thank you for your response. Whilst I find it rather distasteful that you can bat my letter out of sight so flippantly, I have no choice but to accept your position. I have long since learned due to the suffering and terminal humiliation my family has been forced to endure since this sickening farce began, that the footballing authorities have little respect for those that serve their industry.

Hardly surprising... but still delightfully telling...

anyone found odds on a skate relegation?

Ive withdrawn my PST pledge monies now (turns out I probably jumped too soon), and would like to invest 50% into pompey league one relegation bet.

Why are you so surprised? Firstly you have to accept that the indigenous population of Skatesmouth, and in particular those who follow their local football club, will contain a fairly low percentage who are literate. Then amongst them, there is this even smaller cross section who are capable of rational and intelligent thought, those you label as the odd relatively sane ones. The fact that they try over and over again to explain the rules, speaks volumes as to the mental capacity of the poor saps who are their core fan base.

Tottenham midfielder Niko Kranjcar has confirmed he is set to depart White Hart Lane this summer with a move to Ukrainian side Dynamo Kiev looking most likely.

...

Kranjcar moved to north London from Portsmouth in 2008 for a fee of £2.5 million, with the midfielder's move to Ukraine expected to cost closer to £7m.
