Pompey Takeover Saga

It will be the coup de grace of this thread if Chinny's takeover is denied by the Football League because Chinny fails a new and improved FPPT, as demanded by Pompey fans last year, and the club is subsequently liquidated.

On twitter some skate called Lord Palmerstone is saying they've been kicked out of Eastleigh with their training gear seized due to lack of bill payment. Having to move to Collingwood (wherever that is).

This should be interesting....

He's usually a pretty reliable source of info.

Could be the beginning of the end or just another false dawn.

Collingwood is a Navy base just outside Fareham, lots of pitches, I know they are looking for alternatives so suspect this is true

The pompey news ran a few storries about this a while back, the groundsmans sheds being padlocked and they couldnt access their equipment! Would be superb if the school have evicted the pikeys and taken their ball too!

Poor old voldermort was apparently buying bog rolls for the training ground sh*tters so his precious ben haim, lawerence et al could get paid £££s an hour to wipe their a*ses!

He will have to head out and buy some cones and some of those £3 egg shaped umbro balls at sports direct.

Or maybe he could send out his shiny new academy squad to go and steal them instead, its the pompey way afterall... could even steal a few charity collection pots on the way back too to give to mr kitson!

It could well happen, and it would be delicious:

The league have refused to lift the administration restrictions until Portpin, the company owned by prospective purchaser Balram Chainrai, have given up their security, believed to be in the region of £15million.

“The league are saying Portpin have to waive their securities in favour of the Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) payments, which is never going to happen in a million years,” said a frustrated Andronikou.

“It is rather like in the Liverpool situation for the Premier League to ask the Royal Bank of Scotland to waive its £280million. There is absolutely no difference in the two scenarios.

I know a tiny bit about football pitches. Proper ones not "over the reck" pitches.

Give or take up to £500,000 per pitch, just to build it,doesn't include groundsman, tractors, feed, maintenance, mowing, keeping it level, etc (can be up to 1 metre deep)

That is why training facilities are talked about in proffesional circles so often, they are very important,no stones, dandylions or dog poo at Staplewood.

poopey have major problems and this sort of thing does not attract players to your club hence why they will struggle for years even if they survive this summer.

Our training ground is very important and a massive positive. Most people do not realise this and the poopey trust b****cks probably don't have a clue or they would go to plan B.For the future Staplewood is as important as St Marys, believe me.(how much did Alex O C sell for ?)

God bless HMRC.

They used Collingwood before they moved to Wide Lane.

If my memory serves me correctly, they went to Collingwood from Wellington (which at the time was owned by Soouthampton University) on a wave of popular support that their training operation was moving back to a PO postcode.

However it didn't last long. The pitches were rutted and bumpy, and Redknapp blamed them for a string of (mostly muscle-related) injuries. Plus, the medical and treatment facilities were, um, basic, to say the least. The club physio had to treat the pampered stars in one of those brown Services tents that someone always used to find for the local church fete to house the tea urn and serve the jamless Victoria Sponge cakes from.

Not surprisingly, they upped sticks and went to King Edward School who had done a swap with Soton Uni, and offered them all sorts of money to hire their new ground at Wide Lane.

It looks as though KES have finally had enough of being shafted. Either that, or they have been inundated from angry parents asking why their child's education fees are so high when the school is owed a substantial sum of money which might see them reduced.

They'll love it back at Collingwood. Somebody might correct me here, but I'm sure the RN's best physical training facilities are at HMS Temeraire in Bunraby Road.

Unless things have changed, the facilities at Collingwood are still pretty basic, but would be commensurate with p****y's status.

You also wonder what the MOD's stance would be if they were stiffed on payment for hire. They might not be as accommodating as KES.

UPDATE: Having sent a couple of emails out, it might be that my memory may not be 100%. The move to Collingwood might have been temporary while work was being carried out at Wide Lane. The move to Collingwood was still hailed by the phew who hated the thought of their heroes training in an SO postcode, but I think I'm pretty certain that Dewflaps hated the grotty conditions at Collingwood and blamed the bumpy pitches for one of his "bare bones" moments.

... well when they whinge and complain - its possibly worth mentioning that they kinda spunked £150million in the last 5 years of money they did not have on top of 7 years of prem revenues (estimated at £300mil+) ....on....er... a cup.... and ...er....er... some will no doubt say it was worth it for those memories... as leeds fans did.... but I suspect that deep down, many would happily give that up for a more secure future.

It was not just the cup. They got to cheer players better than theirs beating them. Definitely worth it I am sure.

So on the verge of oblivion, their official site consoles the blue phew with an article about how they beat us 4-1 at Krap Nottarf whilst we were managed by Twitchy (Portsmouth is my spiritual home) Redcrap.

http://www.portsmouthfc.co.uk/LatestNews/news/Great-Games-Pompey-4-Southampton-1-3427.aspx

They even mention the part that they played in our relegation by losing to WBA, as if that is something to be proud of, losing a match.

Well, Skates, clutch at straws if you like, if it makes you feel better.

But that was years ago and becoming a distant memory for us. If you wish to trawl back even further, then consider which team it was who dominated the 27 years before that.

And reflect for a while on what the future holds for your poxy run-down little club. A result like that is unlikely to happen again in the lifetimes of most Skate fans.

One thing that I do know is the fact that up until the latter end of 2011, whilst the 1st team squad trained at KEV School ground at Stoneham Lane, the youth team used the old AC Delco facility next door.

The rent was always late and in the end the owners got so fed up that Andy Awful and Co were given their marching orders.

Not sure if they double bunked with the seniors at KEV or may have gone back to Collingwood.

Think there may have also been a deal with Eastleigh FC for car parking on training days and there may have also been disputes with payments.

It always amazed me how tolerant the locals have been having Pompey training within the SO postcode

Can you imagine what the reaction would have been if the reverse had happened?

Pompey also spent ( probably never paid the bill) about 250k on the pitches at kes in drainage, grass etc, so kes have got a good deal out of this. mind you when they were there and my son had a hockey match they did take up a lot of room with all their vans etc so parking was a pain,

I hit a nerve with Neil Allen that he retweeted me. Was what I said not true?

When Sol went up to lift the FA Cup, we were there, we were there. Four years ago today! #Pompey

@pn_neil_allen You seem oblivious that winning the FA Cup led the club to the brink of extinction. I wouldn't celebrate 2008 too much!

he does that so the thick skates can send you abuse.

No abuse yet (maybe they agree with my points?), all it has done is given me a few more Saints fans as followers tonight.

So if you are reading this, cheers Neil Allen! :p

haha that video makes me laff for some reason. When he asks for the deposit etc sounds like a charity for Africa or something.

Poor old Linvoy, he gets sacked one week and the next they wheel him out as the face of respectability to front the video !

Maybe he thinks that his charity have a better chance of getting paid the stolen money if he keeps the faith ?

TBF, he is definitely one of the good guys down there (amidst plenty of bad ones!).

Dare I suggest that someone over there does actually seem to get it now ??

With regards to his comments about Bolton, I was listening to an interview with Phil Gartside on Keys & Gray on Talksport earlier this week - he confirmed that they had a £10m overdraft which the bank had offered to increase to £15m this season, and the remaining debt was to their rich benefactor akin to equity debt. Wasn't very clear if they taken the same steps as the Liebherr family and converted to equity but he wasn't concerned about their financial position other than realigning the wages in the squad for the new season. That said they have a lot of out of contract players so need to rebuild anyway.

why do I have visions of the skate academy being like the PE lesson in the film Kes?

@rangerstaxcase: Article on possible SPL sanctions for RFC(IA)/RFC-newco http://t.co/eMnWBja9 - but Neil Doncaster has a problem with logical reasoning...

@rangerstaxcase: Neil Doncaster: Sees no difference between shedding debt via CVA or via newco. In CVA, creditors agree. In newco it is forced on them.

Anyone hear the ringing of distant bells...?

A few things about that video:

1) Is that Rio in goal for Man U??

2) Notice the smirk after he says that if unsuccessful the 100 will be refunded

3) They really scrape the barrel when they list the awards at the end

Did Rio go in goal during the skates cup run in 2008? Really lucky if thats how it happened, I always thought it was a fair victory at old trafford 11 vs 11...

The Asia Trophy is listed in the honours list, and they think were sad for enjoying the JPT success in front of 50k+ fans!

Will Mr Chainrai be making his offer to buy the club today?

Liquidation is a far far more attractive option to me than a 3rd term for Chanrai.

Its a tough decision for me also feza, but I will also go for liquidation and moneyfields... I will miss Chinny though!

Two weeks to go until the FL AGM and I am excited already... its another big event for us to enjoy, the build up in the press, PR from Birch and gobby delusion from the divided trust... I do enjoy the big events, court cases, SSN special reports, admin announcements, Sol sueing the club, websites being shut down...

Its funny really, this trust vs chinny battle has left me in a funny situation. If Chinny comes back and they are in league 1, I will withdraw my trust pledge and put the money on a pompey relegation... If the trust take on the liquidated afc poopey at moneyfields, I will withdraw my pledge and go out for a party!

Exciting, isnt it?

Well I think it is....every day I think 'Great' - won't ever forget their attitude to our admin or Ted's minute silence. Beyond caring about their fate, almost....they deserve to die without a doubt but the ongoing pain and drawn out suffering is excellent entertainment..as is this thread!:D

On their one foray into the United half, the pumpey striker was brought down by the keeper who saw red. Didn't really make much difference as it happended so late in the game. In terms of daylight robberies this match made Barca vs Chelsea look totally even.

Because of this, and a couple of other Comical Ali stories, they think that a mystery buyer is just about to ride into town, or that Voldermort "knows something we dont"

Nice to see Marlon Pack - PFA team of the year member and 3rd in League Two player of the year poll - score an absolute wonder goal for Cheltenham last night. Could be on his way back to Fratton next season along with other ex skates.

How I bet they wish they hadn't thrown out these great youth prospects now.

collingwood and Temeraire.

collingwood is a huge base...with vast facilities, pitches etc etc

they can use the facilities and not get in the way of the thousands of sailors there working/training etc

temeraire is not a big base at all

but has the better pitches, is in portsmouth and next to Gunwharf
