Pompey Takeover Saga

The trust could buy/buy into H&W in conference south and change it's name. If the council bought FP from the liquidator they could have a viable proposition. Anybody know if H&W own their ground or is it leased/council owned?

portsmuff fc are going to be liquidated. I've seen it in the stars...really i have

Their fans are idiots, plan B should have implemented months ago. Now they all seem to be talking about this. (The penny has dropped) :scared: People on here have been banging on about these subjects for ages. (The whole city is living in a bloody time warp.) Certain stuff i have been reading is so crass it beggars belief.

Now i may not be a very clever person but i cannot see anyway out for the phew, chinny is not going to step in,too much money to fork out EVERY month.

So to conclude:-

"what a marveloooose f***ing summer we is all gonna have" F***ing cheating, stoll the FA cup (not bought it),toothless pikey, thieving jypsy inbred skate, morons who still believe they are a big club. Well my webbed fingered, pathetic, massive chip on their shoulders, hillbilly, caravan loving soap dodgers only weeks to go :scared::scared::scared:

PS (please no one talk about jockenese football it has no place here)

God bless HMRC.

I'm starting to believe that us regulars on here over the years should now start to get organised.

Put a few hundred quid into the kitty and then on the day they finally go pop we should take out a full page ad in the snooze with just 4 words

WE

TOLD

YOU

SO

If only they had listened, If ONLY they had followed some of our suggestions, they'd have most probably be celebrating promotion from the BSQ this weekend.

But oh no. They stuck their fingers in their ears and went shalalalala lala

But thing is we even do THAT so much more professionally

From the news comments:

" When Milan sold the lifetime season tickets I bought one for £2000. If you take that over the years my season ticket costs less than £140 a year "

I'd honestly thought these lifetime season tickets were an urban myth till I read that. Good grief! What a stupid bit of business! So some (many?) of those not packing the park are doing it for free anyway in effect, with their £2000 used up years ago.

I used to work with a skate who bought one, he couldnt care less about the foolishness of the idea, he was quids in. When he bought it, he said to me, "as long as i dont die before 5 years are up, I am quids in".

He wasn't even bothered about relegation. (fair enough all footie fans would still keep going)

But, I guess he didnt bank on the club dying before he did

Not sure, but the ex-chairman from Totton who sorted their ground and took them up 2 divisions has taken over at H&W. He's also just been joined by Totton's manager Stuart Ritchie. Therefore it looks unlikely the trust will have any hope of doing anything with them.

If Pompey are liquidated I understand the FL become responsible for the remainder of the players contracts. However the remaining parachute payments will be redistributed among the remaining clubs. ( does that include saints, what's the cut off date?)

FL rules need to be updated.

1 players contracts should be protected by the league but payments capped at £xxx,000

Maybe players remaking contracts should be auctioned off.? Or is that slavery?

Also these payments should come out of any parachute payments before they are redistributed

Cardiff FC's owners are considering playing in red and ditching blue as red is more lucky.

I'm not sure luck has much to do with it though, one team had a plan, a vision, accounts. The other was chaotic, cheating, and wreckless.

Has anyone read the letter from Blackburn's chief exec to Venky's?

It's here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/sportingintelligencecom/355347150182?created

Relevance to this post:

You may also be aware that HMRC (tax authorities) have been chasing Portsmouth Football Club for a debt they owe. HMRC have made a technical mistake in law and therefore cannot claim the money they are owed. They will make sure of course that the next football club that falls out of line, won’t be so lucky. We need to make sure that this club is not Blackburn Rovers.

Any idea what he's going on about??

Incidentally, if I was the owner, I would be pretty sceptical of a 10 point plan to save the club which starts with a point #1 of "promote me and give me more money" ...

Do what? That's a new one on me. Anyone know what the "technical mistake" was?

Even if HMRC messed up on a technicality, surely Pompey will want to do the decent thing and pay it anyway? Afterall, they would be denying hospitals, schools, etc valuable funds. Not something that "family club of the year" would want to be associated with...surely...?

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/pompey-past/chainrai-named-as-one-of-two-parties-in-pompey-talks-1-3820088

POMPEY administrator Trevor Birch has confirmed Balram Chainrai is one of two parties interested in taking over the club.

In his clearest indication yet that the former owner is waiting in the wings to regain control at Fratton Park,

...

But Mr Birch, who has been looking for a buyer to take over at Fratton Park since February 17, stressed there is still no deal on the table.

Mr Birch said: ‘We are in discussions with two interested parties, one of which is Balram Chainrai.

...

‘There is no solid bid on the table from either party at present but we are trying to find an appropriate deal structure that works within the time frame.

‘We are also talking to our contacts in the market to encourage any other potential bidders to come forward immediately.’

The other interested party is not the Pompey Supporters’ Trust, according to Mr Birch, but he is helping the group to formalise its bid.

...

Mr Birch said there have been no discussions with Portsmouth City Council over the authority lending the club cash to boost its survival bid.

...

Scott Mclachlan, spokesman for the Supporters’ Trust, said the trust had received around 180 new pledges from fans after it appealed for an extra 1,000 supporters to come forward.

This email was from last December. So I am presuming this relates to administration / CVA1. The technicality being that because of the level of secured debt the HMRC could get outvoted by previous owners, loan sharks and players bound to get paid anyway.

Cheers. But all that stuff was/is beyond HMRC's control, wasn't it? What could they have done differently to prevent AA allegedly 'embellishing' the number of other creditors...?

The post above was suggesting that there was something within their control that they messed up. Unless I'm reading between the lines incorrectly.

I think the 3 years spent on this thread are starting to catch up with me :-)

Can someone briefly explain how someone (Chainrai) who has overseen 2 administrations in 2 years will pass the fit and proper persons test this time around? Just curious.

Does he have any Criminal Convictions in the area of Finance/Compliance?

Answer - No

Passed.

To be far,if i was a poopey fan i wouldn't touch the club with a barge poll. I would keep my £1000 and spunk it on a big tele or something. I would put my all efforts into Plan B. All the trust is going to do is prolong their death.

It is time to put "Tibbles" to sleep granma and get another cat.

I'm supprised there are another 180 fans that are thinking they can save the club. Deluded fools!

God bless HMRC.

the fans have been fantastic, packed the park, didn't boo Kitson and Varney, didn't get arrested at Coventry - some clubs they went to this season even said it was the most annoying noise ever made by 150 people, and even though there were so few of them, it was always nice to see them go home.

Doncaster even wrote them a letter and said you might have been presented with three points by a dodgy ref but we'll still see you next season - and please keep up the transfer policy, it makes our bonkers attempt at staying up look sensible.

The bestest really have stepped up to the plate, creating an intimidating atmosphere at fortress fratton that terrified the likes of Derby and Millwall, shook them to their core, they were so scared they could barely get back on their coach after easy victories - they still have nightmares about rows of empty blue seats and rather fatty showers.

And when Saints went there it was like Galatasary against Boca Juniors - the noise in the arena was deafening, Foxy looked well petrified when a cross-eyed ten year old threw the ball away from him, and he didn't even know what the time was as Stage One of the ground development hadn't been completed.

He was so intimidated he just ran away, like scummers do, all the way to the Premier League.

And the few wouldn't boo like Blackburn fans did, no, they are the most respected fanbase in the country, in a slightly patronising and sarcastic media-cartoon sort of way...

The self-proclaimed bestest are legends in their own lunchtimes - they weren't even frightened when their special buses had dog walkers look at them in a nasty way.

They just stood proud, shoulder-to-shoulder, behind Appy's battling troops who gave their all in the relegation fight.

They stood defiant, as they did on that homo-erotic poster, they were relegated as one.

And the fundraising proves their strength in both quality and quantity, putting their money where there toothless mouths are.

Giving it all that for five years, and the 250,000 celebrating a glorious 1-0 victory against a midtable bankrupt Championship side, no wonder the fans want to take control.

So it came to the crunch and they had to show their support in hard cash.

Now, the dismal but predictable failure of the Trust scheme could be laughed at by cruel people who've had to suffer several years of arrogant boasting from people who give themselves awards for their own support, as the amount doesn't even cover a third of one player's wages - but let's look on the bright side.

If they want to raise about £10M to put the club back on it's feet I'm sure there's some flexibility with the deadline of three weeks, they really need to be raising approx £400,000 a day now.

The bestest are currently generating £1,800 a day - and even ToyBoy might admit that that represents a small shortfall.

Chanrai might not be the answer but AA can help, he can massage a few debts, mislead a court or two, move a few decimal points and Bingo! - the Trust will be right on track.

pompey are beyond a joke club but Blackburn are coming up fast on the rails.

Or should that be off the rails?

They are looking at bankruptcy and a further relegation - when they miss their first wage or tax bill no doubt the authorities will come down on them as heavy as they did with the likes of Luton.

Meanwhile West Ham still have their date with destiny, and if it's against Birmingham they'll both need an administrator sat on the bench at Wembley - that would be winner takes all, losers goes bankrupt.

Most important that we retain our new status and keep the books under control for a year or two, it could be carnage all around us - hopefully we got out little 'hiccup' out of the way early doors and beat the rush.

How's that Trust takeover shaping up?

West Ham won't go to the wall. Admin won't help them so the owners won;t get any of their investment back, so they will find another £17m to keep them alive next season. Blues on the other hand are ****ed if they don't go up.

Selling the potential here would probably be something I would use to sell the club to players who could get a Championship club.

Because of most of their debt being football creditors they can't do administration. A big part of the £37m owed to Sheff Utd is due shortly. If they don't go up this could be too much for Gold and O'Sullivan to pick up.

I'm not sure he was the "owner" first time round. If I remember it correctly, he had a charge over the invisible Sheikh's shares, as security for the loan to Falcondrone, and excercised control through "nominees". I don't know whether the shares were ever formally transferred to him, or Portpin, before they went into admin. There's no flies on Chinny.

He did become the owner when the "club" was transferred to Newco by Andronikou at the end of the first admin.

Ah ha

So they have a big plan then.

They are in League One.

So they are going to go and find CHAMPIONSHIP players on Championship wages (why the hell else would they want to give up a year in nPc of they weren't on the same or better wages?)

Good Grief really doesn't cover it.

p.s. I wonder if they have actually got around to doing Cash Flow forecasts yet?

Are we ever going to get judgement? Wasn't it heard before Xmas with a result to be known just after, then before the end of the season?? Ok I know that's this weekend but the judiciary do seem to be dragging their feet somewhat.

How's that Trust takeover shaping up?

Corporate will tell you that when you find out, you are going to be pig sick!

Its all very cute really. The infighting and bickering amoungst the fans is both amusing and fascinating.

In week one of the last two to raise another 1000 pledges they achieved 180! That will keep Tal Ben Haim paid up to date until about mid June, or potentially Kitson right through to July!

And thats before the likes of myself withdraw their pledge at the 11th hour...

Mind you, if you want some uttely deluded nonsense then look at one of the trust spokesmans response to a skate asking some obvious questions... so many caveats, admissions, omissions and ignorance I really dont know where to begin:

I am curious as to how the trust think they can finance a fans buyout

a) Massive loss next year

b) Maintenance costs

c) Insurances

d) Players and backroom

e) Ancillary staff

f) CVA

....

I've labelled your 'costs' with letters to make it easier to explain.

A includes b through f. They are all one and the same.

CVA cost is effectively the purchase price. It's likely to be nominal (in the scheme of things). Probably paid for by a large chunk of the pledges.

Maintenance Costs, Insurances, Ancillary Staff and a good chunk of Players / Backroom will be covered by ticket sales, merchandising, advertising and sponsorship. There are other avenues too - plenty of partnerships can be forged (look at the TM Lewin deal as an example, that's the tip of the available iceberg). PFC have never traditionally capitalised on this, for whatever reason. The trust would be likely to work with partners. What better way for fans to support the club than by having PFC broadband, PFC credit card, PFC car insurance (and so on). No risk to the purchaser because the product is direct with another company - they're just using the PFC name.

That leaves a shortfall for player wages. Currently an unknown. Is Ben Haim going? If he is, that's over £2m a year saved. Huseklepp, Lawrence, Mullins - are they going? After Yr 1 the PPs become available (mostly swallowed by football creditors in the first year) so some of Yr 1 losses could be offset against Yr 2 revenue - the wage bill is likely to be much lower in Yr 2. This is before any additional player sales too.

It's certainly achievable and the trust don't need that much money to do it. What they 'need' is to be able to present a bid that represents better value for Chainrai than Liquidation.

For me it lost all credibility with CVA cost is effectively the purchase price. It's likely to be nominal (in the scheme of things). Probably paid for by a large chunk of the pledges.

I can only commend the little vote grabber for letting this delusion free, PMSL

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/pompey/pompey-past/appy-to-push-for-striker-return-1-3819130

‘If they are prepared to take 12 months out and be part of something which could be special for the next three or four seasons, that’s what I’ll be looking to do.’

I remeber Pardew saying the same kind of thing to the like of Rickie, Fonte, Lallana, Connelly et al... The difference is he really meant it, the club was going to win things, it had been bought out by ethical investors and the club was excellently placed to rise up once again.

Voldermort is simply lying through his teeth as that is all he can do.

There is no potential, unless somebody gives them about £150m to catch up with the rest of us. The only current outlook is Chainrai coming back in to town to strip that carcass bare, if that dosent happen the disastrous trust will take over with less than a months working capital.

The only way they have ever managed to convince players to join them when they could go to a better club/division is to grossly outbid rival clubs by offering bonkers wages, evidenced by the likes of Holloway, Warnock and Jewel recently.

The only thing special going on over the next 3-4 years is a painful, painful decline:

The fat will still be in the pipes

Tal Ben Haim will still be on the books

So will Kitson

Gadymack will still own the carpark and charge £6k PW for access to fratton arena

The clock will still be broken

TCWTB and around 500-1000 will still be enjoying free entry on their season ticket for life PMSL

No training ground, let alone anything else

Chainrai will still own all the assests, the ground, everything

etc

Its either the special scenario above, or the realistic option below:

The only internet connection that goes down... and then goes down again

and as for the car insurance they will only cover 20p in the pound on any damage and then refuse to pay even that.
