Lazlo78 Posted 6 May, 2012 Share Posted 6 May, 2012 I seem to remember that they were taking the **** regarding our winning the JPT - it being just a paint pot. I assume that they will not be taking part in next years competition as they are too big a club. I know it's a stupid question because there's no real choice - I was just thinking about it when I saw an ad for the European League finals. It's the much frowned upon little brother of the Champions League, but for the teams in the competition it's a great honour to win it! And just because you're not Barca or Man U you should still celebrate when winning one of the challenges in front of you. And as such, winning the JPT when in League One was a great triumph for us whatever PL snobs may say...

RonManager Posted 7 May, 2012 Share Posted 7 May, 2012 Chatting to a gaggle of Villa fans sat around me at the Spuds match yesterday. All welcomed us back. When the topic turned Skatey, they were surprisingly ITK and there was no sympathy for them whatsoever. They also don't seem to like Bagpuss much either! At half-time, one old boy recounted a detailed match report of our replay win there in '76 - 'that bastard McCalliog'.

rallyboy Posted 7 May, 2012 Share Posted 7 May, 2012 Blackburn fans packed the park for a big match - no chance of pompey fans doing that. The few are way too busy trying to keep up with sorting the thousands of applications for Trust membership. Thankfully Ticket Office Manager Liam Lawrence is back tomorrow to get on top of the backlog - and to claim his astronomical wages that will once again cripple the business. Fair play to him, steered Cardiff away from the top two and still manages to do damage to pompey. He must be looking forward to playing at Crawley. Gruffalo Posted 8 May, 2012 Share Posted 8 May, 2012 So, Lawrence returns, Mullins is on his way back and, if the lashers see off Birmingham tonight, Erik the Viking will be rolling back down the M275 in his Hummer. That's going to leave Birchy having to dig deep to stump up an additional £76k per week in wages alone (reported £20k, £26k & £30k, respectively).. They really need to start shifting playings out, and double quick - shame most are tied up on contracts that no other club will be interested in matching.. Reap. Sow.. No chance #Pompey fans would have done that. Of course not Mr Allen. We all know by now that they're the bestest fans in the whole wide world... Last night was very funny to watch, although I did feel a little sorry for Rovers. I thought the fans have been pretty poor in terms of support for their team, but impressive in their protests against Venkys. At least the Rovers fans have made their point loud and proud against their dodgy owners, the skates mustered up about 30 blokes in a park and walked to the ground with A4 sized question marks! The protest chicken on pitch was a moment of pure genius! The skates got confused, one week they were singing theres only one peter storrie , and then the next week it was you can stick your f*cking arabs up your a*se So, Lawrence returns, Mullins is on his way back and, if the lashers see off Birmingham tonight, Erik the Viking will be rolling back down the M275 in his Hummer. That's going to leave Birchy having to dig deep to stump up an additional £76k per week in wages alone (reported £20k, £26k & £30k, respectively).. After all that guff from the above players claiming they were going to kill off the scummers promotion hopes, I am delighted to see them all failing to make any impact with their loan clubs and I thoroughly look forward to seeing Liam running the ticket office once again. A man who likes to be in control, getting in at the front line to pocket the skates hard earned cash before Chainrai hoovers it all up later! In lighter news, it is now May 8th and the trust have just one more week to raise the mythical funds... so far, its anything between £1-2-3m pledged... with another £9m minimum required just to pay off Chinnys secured debt (let alone his unsecured £7m)... just pretend no other costs exist at all for pompey, that is what they require just for the Hong Kong based loan shark! holepuncture Posted 8 May, 2012 Share Posted 8 May, 2012 I can't wait for next season. Please let them survive, be owned by fans, have a squad of 16 teenagers starting on -27 points in front of 4,000 people. Bliss. So, Crawley have managed to win promotion at the first attempt to League One having only been in the FL for just one season. A crap ground, a crap town, with a team that did what we supposedly did and bought their way to success, but they still had to deliver and they did just that. Let's hope we have a team that can do us justice as I'd so hate to see that lot turn us over! Amazing... one day it will dawn on them the blinding similarities that Crawley share with them, crap ground etc! He has a point. Some of the teams we will be playing is truly depressing. I thought barnsley away cant be more depressing but have a feeling it will be heavenly after next season. All the clubs except 2/3 are conference sized clubs Niko, you are a conference sized club, Fratton or Moneyfields... you are depressing to the opposition with your crumbling cesspit of an arena. ...and our away support will be bigger than most of their home support This is the heroic 50x souls that went to Wigan, the 150x to Sunderland in the PL, or the 300 to Millwall etc... The one good thing about next season, Fratton Park will be like dream stadium for a lot of the clubs in League One. PMSL! That is a gem! Not sure about this statement. More than half the league next season have new or newish grounds or have had 4 new stands built on existing sites. I think it will be more of the same seeing how other clubs spend their money more wisely than we did. Finally some sanity amoungst the deluded few! Lighthouse Posted 8 May, 2012 Share Posted 8 May, 2012 is it not just plain wrong? surely if they said to Leeds, no sell on clause if you give us an extra £X, it could be worked out that way, so they're depriving creditors of additional funds while running up greater bills. Pretty clever move by Leeds really, giving them a sell out clause which they might never have to pay should Pompey go under. It may well have been the best offer on the table, even if Pompey wanted up front cash. Leeds: You can have £500k for Pearce and 20% sell on Pompey: We need cash now, £600k and no sell on?
